Kingfishers is a beautifully located care home in the scenic town of Bourne End in the county of Buckinghamshire.

They offer long and short term residential, respite and convalescent care, with a special interest in helping people with all levels of dementia.

The home has an excellent team of Activity Coordinators who ensure that each resident has a good variety of activities to support them, give them a real sense of involvement, and enhance their daily health and wellbeing. With the home's mobile friendly vehicle, the sky is your limit. The Team would love to be part of your journey in exploring what the local area has to offer.

The Chefs at Kingfishers take special care in providing a varied seasonal menu using fresh produce daily and taking into consideration each resident's individual dietary requirements and preferences.

They offer a home from home environment with excellent facilities and a wonderful team of staff to deliver exceptional care meeting all your needs.

Kingfishers care deeply about their residents, with staff that are kind and attentive. The activities are lots of fun for the residents and brilliantly planned each day. My mother was sent to this home from hospital awaiting assessment. Whilst she was very unsettled we found the care to be excellent, with carers making a special effort to settle her in. All the staff are friendly, even the cleaner would pop in to have a chat and cheer Mum up. The home has a warm friendly
atmosphere and you can always see carers interacting with residents. The home is well led, with any queries being dealt with swiftly, and kitchen staff go out of their way to accommodate dietary needs.
The carers are rotated around the residents meaning they get to know everyone. We could not fault any of the carers and were particularly grateful to know that carers will regularly visit the rooms to ensure the resident is happy. We would have no hesitation in recommending this home to anyone.

Extremely caring and professional care home. My mum, who had dementia and was riddled with cancer, spent 6 weeks approx here before she sadly died. She came from hospital. One nurse, in particular, was amazing and treated Mum so caringly right up to the end. She was so so good with my family too. The
Kingfisher staff members were all tremendous. They gave Mum respect and unbelievably great care and we as a family could have not found a better place for Mum to peacefully pass away. Thank you so very much!

I moved into Kingfishers in November 2021.
It took me a week or so to settle in, but once I found my feet, I started to relax with everyone.
I have really enjoyed meeting other residents, I join in with most of the activities, we have them daily.
Poetry and helping with our guinea pig are my favourite
things to do here.
It's very pretty and I feel very relaxed.
The care staff are very helpful and lot's of fun.

Throughout a very sad and difficult few years, the resident was cared for very well indeed. He never complained about the care he received at Kingfishers and obviously, this must be down to the excellent staff and good management. Thank you for everything you did for him. My mother-in-law attended for a few weeks of respite care following hip surgery.
She had specific dietary needs and when we went to view Kingfishers prior to the stay we were assured by their management that they would cater for this. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case. My mother-in-law ended up having
either cheese on toast or macaroni cheese for the vast majority of her meals during her stay, despite numerous calls from us. Simple things like providing vegetables on the side were not catered for and the call button in the room when pressed frequently took 20-30 minutes to be answered. I appreciate staff are busy but one of Kingfishers USPs for us was that it was small and had more staff to resident ratio than other homes but for us, this didn’t result in a better service.
The other major concern was that management was difficult to get hold of, often our calls were unanswered and emails required chasing up to get a response. There is also no management cover over weekends.

My father entered Kingfishers Nursing Home just before the first Covid lockdown in March 2020. The staff have provided regular updates throughout the last year on the Covid situation in the home, what the residents have been able to do as regards activities and any specific issues relating to my father's
health or needs. And the staff are always quick to respond if we have any queries. During the periods when we weren't allowed to visit we felt that my father was both safe and happy. Now that visits have resumed we find the staff are all very friendly and caring and I know my father is fond of them. The home is well run with a comfortable home-style environment. The house and grounds are always immaculately maintained and the ambiance is always welcoming.

My experience of the Kingfishers is second to none. My mother has received the best care that I could have asked for. She is looked after in every way to the highest standard. We as a family can’t thank them enough, the support they have given us is tremendous. The peace of mind we have knowing that

Firstly I would like to say how amazing the whole of Kingfishers have been during this uncertain time. I for one am so amazed at how hard you have all worked throughout the whole pandemic and continue to do so. I would like to give a special thank you to your clinical team who are working to give my
grandmother the best possible end of life care. It’s heartwarming knowing she’s got so many loving people around her when we can’t be right there with her. I’d like to say as well whenever I call to check on how she’s doing it’s lovely to hear so many happy voices in the background. From the word go, even when I turned up on spec to make the initial inquiry for my mother to be admitted, everyone has been so welcoming and kind to us all. The odd qualm raised by us over my mother's care, which is as much to do with her coming to terms with losing her independence, is dealt with
unobtrusively but efficiently. All the staff from the nurses UP to the ancillary workers are always so cheerful and have been very sympathetic to both my mother's and family needs. Even though Mum has only been a resident for 9 months, they have a real soft spot for her
Through their diligence, care and love they have up to now kept the residents safe and generally happy throughout the lockdown period, although Mum has found this difficult. I am however very concerned that the Home has found it very difficult to source the tests necessary to meet the Government's targets of once a week for staff, and residents once a month. So after 5 months, only 1 test has been done.

Staff are always welcoming, even during lockdown and window visiting. My husband is clearly happy with them and I have been sent letters and cards which he has signed (as well as able), maintaining contact with me and the family, very kindly done.

My father was in this home for palliative care for 6 weeks until his passing. Being during the COVID time we were only able to visit once, but the staff ensured he was able to talk to us every day and kept us up to date with all developments in his health and well being. They answered and questions
and enquiries promptly and efficiently. Every single staff member we came in contact with was kind, compassionate and just lovely. I would not hesitate to recommend this care home to anyone, truly magnificent.

Both my parents have now used Kingfishers Nursing Home. Mum had end of life care, she was treated with the utmost respect. My dad was always made to feel welcome when he went to visit her. My dad is now there after suffering a fall, his room is spotless with a great view of the garden, he is very happy
and for us as a family, we know he is safe, clean and he has company as loneliness is terrible. I can’t wish for better for my dad.

My mum went into Kingfishers last year. She was only there for a week before she sadly passed away. When it became clear to us as a family that Dad needed long term residential care, it was to be from Kingfishers without a shadow of a doubt. The staff are simply wonderful, they look after their residents
as though they are their own family. The surroundings are just beautiful. When visiting we too are on the receiving end of the Kingfishers love. I only hope that if ever I have to go into care that it is somewhere that upholds the same values as the Kingfisher and Salveo Care teams.

I would highly recommend this wonderful care home to anyone who is in need for one, the staff are absolutely amazing! So kind, caring and very welcoming. My nan was with them last year and the care they gave her was outstanding from beginning to end, we as a family could not have asked for any better
and now my grandad is with them and he is very very happy there and well looked after. You can ask the staff anything and they will go above and beyond to help in any way they can!
The rooms, facilities and gardens are beautiful, spacious and maintained to a high standard.
It’s a very safe and secure environment which puts our minds at ease!

My career in health and social care began in 2010 when I chose to study Sociology and Social Work. I’ve always been passionate about understanding society's evolving needs and combining social services with research to address future challenges. This passion led me to pursue a Master's degree in Intelligence Analysis, which became a crucial foundation for my current role, helping me better understand societal vulnerabilities and assess the quality of care services.


Over the past 10+ years, I’ve gained extensive experience in balancing compassionate, person-centred care with strong leadership and clinical understanding. Working in both nursing homes and residential care settings, I realised how vital clinical knowledge is for truly meeting residents’ needs and delivering outstanding care. After qualifying as a nurse, I explored the hospital environment and contributed to meaningful healthcare projects across the UK. These included placements at Mount Vernon Hospital, Hillingdon Hospital, and Harefield Hospital, where I conducted my dissertation research in cardiology and the transplant sector.


My combined experience in both the public and private sectors has allowed me to build valuable partnerships between private care providers and NHS services across various boroughs.


Today, I am honoured to serve as Home Manager at Kingfishers. I am dedicated to leading our home toward achieving an Outstanding rating by adhering to CQC regulations, complying with all relevant legislation, and following our nursing home policies with the best interests of residents and their families in mind.


I am particularly passionate about dementia care and supporting complex nursing needs within adult care. Every day presents new challenges that inspire me and my team to strive for excellence. With over 25 years of experience spanning Administration, Public Relations, Human Resources, and Entrepreneurship, I bring a wealth of knowledge, adaptability, and passion to my role as Administrator at Kingfishers Care Home.


What I enjoy most about my position is the variety and meaningful interaction it brings every day. No two days are ever quite the same, and I find great satisfaction in supporting both the operational and human sides of the home. Whether I’m coordinating internal processes, assisting residents and families, or supporting the wider team, I strive to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the home.


I am, at heart, a people person. Building strong, positive relationships is something I value deeply. At Kingfishers, I feel fortunate to work in an environment where compassion, teamwork, and dedication are at the core of everything we do. Interacting daily with residents, relatives, and staff is one of the most rewarding parts of my role. It’s a privilege to be a small part of their lives and to contribute to the warm and caring culture we’ve built here.


Outside of work, I enjoy a rich and creative life. I’m married and a proud mother of two grown-up daughters and one adorable granddaughter. In my spare time, I enjoy learning French, sewing, and repurposing old furniture, which satisfies my love for creativity and reinvention.

My passion lies in creating meals that are not only nutritious and balanced but also familiar, comforting, and meaningful. From traditional favourites to seasonal treats, I work closely with our team to tailor menus to the unique preferences and dietary needs of our community.

Job Title: Housekeeping/Maintenance

With over a decade of hands-on experience in Care Homes, I have been proudly serving as a Maintenance Operative since June 2013. Throughout my career, I have developed a deep commitment to creating and maintaining safe, functional, and welcoming environments where residents, staff, and visitors feel comfortable and cared for.


My role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities, from carrying out routine maintenance and minor repairs, including plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, painting, decorating, and garden upkeep, to conducting regular inspections that help identify and address potential issues before they escalate. Whether it's a leaking tap or a faulty light fitting, I respond promptly and effectively to ensure minimal disruption to daily life within the home.


One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is being a reliable point of contact during emergencies, such as power outages or equipment failures. I take pride in remaining calm under pressure and acting swiftly to protect the safety and well-being of everyone in the facility. I also coordinate with external contractors when specialist expertise is needed, always ensuring that work is completed to high standards and in line with health and safety regulations.


In addition to my maintenance duties, I also hold the position of Head of Housekeeping, leading a dedicated domestic team. Together, we ensure that every corner of the home, from communal areas to individual resident rooms, is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation. We approach our work with sensitivity and respect, always mindful of the residents' privacy, dignity, and personal preferences.

Her management career started as a charge nurse and then as a ward manager within the NHS, working in wards specialising in care for older adults enduring mental health conditions and dementia.


For the last 15 years, Fiona has worked in the Care Home Sector, taking on various Management roles, including Registered Manager, Regional Support Manager, Clinical and Quality Manager, Compliance Consultant and Operations Manager.


Remaining very hands-on clinically, she is passionate about supporting our management teams to deliver exceptional person-centred care, ensuring all individuals can maintain their independence and enjoy the excellent quality of life our care homes offer.

In July 2025, I was honoured to become the Group Lifestyle Manager for Premium Care Group, where I oversee and develop lifestyle programmes across all our care homes to enhance residents’ wellbeing and quality of life.


Before this, I was Care Manager at Weald Hall, having started my career there as a care assistant. I quickly built strong relationships with residents and the care team. My passion has always been to make a genuine difference, caring for every resident as if they were part of my own family.

Most recently, she served as an Administrator, bringing extensive knowledge, dedication, and vital support to her team. Her deep-rooted passion for elderly care shines through in everything she does, and she thrives at the heart of the home, staying closely connected with both staff and residents.


Kate has a particular passion for community engagement. She loves meeting new people, building meaningful relationships, and making a genuine difference in the lives of others. She takes great pride in supporting other homes across the Premium Care Group and is always willing to contribute wherever she can.
