Generally, I find The Lawns to be a good care home as listed below. There are no major concerns to me in the care of my mother. My only criticism is that when needing some more in-depth information about my mother's condition from the nursing staff, they are often busy and away from the station and sometimes I feel they are rushed when talking to me.
Thank you for your feedback. We will discuss your comments with the home’s manager to help us continually improve our service.
Very happy with mum's care.
Your staff are an asset to your company. We felt that our mum was being looked after by caring individuals. We also noted that staff were happy in their work which must be a reflection of good management and team leaders. We felt welcomed and very supported with Mum's care and we have no hesitation in recommending The Lawns to others. We shall actually miss our visits to The Lawns and our meals.
Thank you for such a lovely review. Please visit us again in the future.
There is good communication with the families to keep us abreast of their well being. With a good quality of food. Also, personal pride is maintained with cleanliness and hairdressing facilities.
Overall, the package is the best in the area.

We have seen 15 care homes in the Chelmsford area and only one other matched the criteria and excellence we were looking for. Fabulous place. Clean, lovely staff and nothing negative at all.

The Home could not act in a way to reduce Mum's anxiety which lead to a significant increase in toilet requests. Response to this was poor and did not promote her dignity. Specifically she at times lacked enough to drink causing exacerbation of known problems. I did not feel happy while she was in their care because highlighting problems did not solve them. She had to be found another home.
My father-in-law a terminal cancer patient, helped with meds via ice-cream (thank you so much) and pushed for a morphine drip very much needed. Would have liked gentler movements when changing but very kind people all in all. Thank you all for listening and your patience and thinking outside the box. He was very appreciative of everything, thank you all.
My Nan was so happy in the care of such dedicated and compassionate staff.
We as a family have no hesitation in recommending this beautiful care home, first class service always delivered with a smile :-)
My mother-in-law arrived at the lawns in June 2015 following an accident resulting in a broken hip. From the time she arrived she was made to feel welcome and all the staff ensured she was made comfortable and her needs were catered for in an efficient manner. The manager was very helpful in ensuring that everything was satisfactory and the staff gave every attention to our mothers medical and emotional needs. Unfortunately she passed away and the family were treated with great respect and consideration following an upsetting time for us. I would definitely recommend this nursing home to family and friends. A first class service all round.
The home is just what mum requested. Her own room, beautiful view of the gardens, good food and good care. Just a couple of issues. (Already discussed with staff and manager.) The home is not as peaceful and quiet as advertised. We were told no dementia residents unfortunately mum can hear constant calling "help me, help me", "I need a nurse". There are residents with dementia issues there, mum gets worried as she cannot get to help them! I am also a little concerned of the ratio of nurses to residents. There appears to be a lack during the day and at night. Mum says it takes a long while for the staff to come when she presses the buzzer. These residents are high dependency and need the right staff numbers to give the adequate care.
We take all comments extremely seriously and are very disappointed to hear your comments. We are pleased that you have addressed this directly with the home manager, if you wish to discuss this further please can you send your details to our customer services team by emailing feedback@bupa.com so that we can give you a call you to discuss this feedback.
Very good care home. Involved in resident and relative meeting. Mum has only been there six weeks she was very frightened, confused and not sure about anything. She now has some confidence back eating and drinking well. Her memory has improved. She now goes to the dining room for lunch and has become more talkative. Interacts with other house mates and staff. A big thank you to all the staff for their time and support with mum. She needs a lot of encouragement. Beautiful home wonderful food! all the staff courteous and helpful. Well done all! One issue more nurses needed day and night on each floor. Mum says she has to wait quite a while when she uses the nurse call button! There are many patients constantly calling for help.
Thank you for your review. Your comments are extremely important to us and our residents’ health and wellbeing is our absolute priority. We will discuss your feedback with the home’s manager to help them continually improve their service.
The lawns has recently undergone a change in management. Since the new manager has taken over there has been a vast improvement across the board but particularly in respect of the activities. Prior to this our ratings would have been somewhat lower but now we (and most importantly, mother who is the resident) are very pleased with the standard of care, activities and appearance of the home. Staff are excellent, always kind, friendly and take a personal interest in the residents. Mother has been at The Lawns for just over a year now and although we have no other comparisons, from our initial research and visits to other homes, we feel certain that we made the right choice.
My mother was admitted to 'The Lawns' in January 2013 following a four week stay in Broomfield hospital. She had pressure sores and a horrific leg injury after several years in a local care home and malnutrition. The steady improvement in her overall condition is entirely due to her care at The Lawns, the staff from management to carers, nurses and domestic is of the highest standard. Nothing is ever too much trouble and anything which might be a problem is discussed and promptly dealt with. It is a pity that more homes are not of the same high standard.
The care given to my has been excellent and the staff are all vey considerate and never in a hurry to rush away when seeing to mum.
We all do like the home for mum. The home is well maintained and the gardens are much better than two months ago. The staff are very friendly and kind.
