The staff have always been helpful and have genuine compassion for their residents. This has been very comforting at a time when we have been unable to visit inside the home for much of it due to restrictions to know the family has been well looked after.

My mother was transferred in July from another care home. This was our first experience with care homes, and we were shocked, to say the least by what we endured. Then she arrived at Springfields!

Since she has been at Springfields, she has improved beyond our wildest hopes; she feels safe and secure there and is looked after by people who are not only professional but also naturally caring. They constantly interact and engage in conversations with my mother and have taken the time to get to know her and have genuine empathy and time for all the residents in there. I am so relieved she is in Springfields. I come away from a visit and know she is being cared for how we all would hope a parent in care would be. On the occasions we have good weather taking her out to look around the gardens it is blissful and cathartic; she feels like the lady of the manor. I have nothing negative to say about Springfields. My whole family are so thankful for all they do there and how they do it!

We found the staff always friendly and always had time to answer questions. My cousin, who needed the care, liked the staff, enjoyed the food and was content. We found the home 'homely', and it was a pleasure to visit there as he was so well looked after.

My 95-year-old mother has been at Springfields for over a year now. Prior to this, she lived alone at home with carer visits. After several falls and hospital admission, she was extremely frail. This home was recommended and my wife and I went to visit. Once through the door, we knew this was going to suit her needs. After several months of special care, my mother made a brilliant recovery and even the staff say they haven't seen such a change in one of their clients. Although she is now wheelchair-bound her mind is as sharp as ever. She enjoys the social life and companionship of the other residents and the care staff. Although we aren't able to visit on a regular basis, the activities coordinator arranges FaceTime sessions so we can see and speak to mum. I cannot praise the care staff enough, especially through this pandemic, by being able to keep the residents and staff all safe and clear of COVID-19.

I can highly recommend this Care Home as being 'one in a million'!

When informed by Colchester General Hospital that my wife needed to be relocated into a care home, I had some concerns having heard how untrained labour was used and any care given would not be of an acceptable standard. I took the opportunity to visit some local care homes in the Colchester area and was not too impressed. That was until I visited Springfields. I could not at first believe the difference between this care home and the other I had visited, all of the staff nurses and care staff were friendly and very accommodating. I was also struck as to how clean the kitchen was and was also pleased when told the chef catered for individual tastes. The rooms where the guests stayed in were perfect. On accepting a placement there, my wife was allocated a room overlooking fields where pheasant and peacocks would add beauty to the general outlook which made her final days memorable.

My mother has been at Springfields now for over three years. She is very happy there and very settled. She has a lovely big room with most of the furniture being her own. It has French doors leading to the beautiful gardens which give her so much joy and pleasure every day throughout the different seasons. She joins in with the daily activities most mornings which she really enjoys and benefits from. The food is delicious, nutritious and varied with a good choice. The most important aspect of the home is the staff. They are all extremely professional, caring and supportive and treat my mother with respect and dignity at all times. They enjoy a nice chat and have a good sense of humour too. Nothing is too much trouble and they are always very welcoming and supportive of the whole family. Knowing that my mother is happy, safe and well looked after 24/7 is a huge relief especially living three hours away.

My parents moved into Springfields in August 2019. They have a small ensuite of rooms on the ground floor with direct access to the gardens. The care and attention that they received at Springfields have been excellent particularly so during my father's recent medical treatment. They are happy to be there and I am pleased to. I know that they are safe, warm, well-fed and cared for and that gives me complete peace of mind.

Springfield is a lovely home with every kind, friendly and supportive staff. My mum did not choose to go into a nursing home but if she had, it ould have been to Springfields. She now feels at home there and a part of her new family unit. The staff and other residents boost her spirit and her general health and wellbeing have improved with all their loving patience and support. I am happy my mum is at Springfields and my mum is too.

We are very happy with the care that has been provided to our father at Springfields Nursing Home. It is the third time that he has been in for respite care and each time he has received a warm welcome. The staff are all so attentive and friendly it has almost become a home from home to him. It is set in a lovely location with well-kept gardens and views of the countryside, yet within easy reach of the A12 just outside Colchester so there is no getting stuck in the town traffic when visiting. We would definitely recommend it.

The nursing home is amazing. On a personal level, the staff are always very gentle and kind and very caring. My husband falls a lot and I am always contacted when this happens. He is kept very clean and comfortable. There are always activities going on if he chooses to attend. The nursing staff are on hand 24 hours a day. They have an excellent chef and the meals are delicious and nutritious. The premises are beautifully clean and the residents have 5 acres of beautiful gardens to enjoy.

My late mum lived with me for 5 years before being assessed with the need for 24hr care. I viewed a number of homes but knew instantly that this was the right one. Mum was in the home for 9 months in total. I never worried feared how she would be treated in my absence. The staff, each and every one of them are exceptional. Kind, careing and professional. I would recommend to my dearest friends.

I don't normally write reviews, but felt impelled to tell of our family's experience of Springfields.
Mum's declining health meant she needed professional care. Although everyone goes through this, it was obviously a unique time for our family and very stressful.
The hospice kindly sourced Springfields as an ideal place for Mum's particular care needs and we all believe that it was the best place she could have gone. She derived so much pleasure from the gardens and spoke well of all the nursing staff. They were professional, genuine and compassionately cared for Mum (and us!) She loved the staff that were assigned to her. She was content and had a quality of life that was very reassuring for the family.
The only thing she ever complained about was the food. However, she loved her food, was a great cook and latterly found eating difficult. So, that is the only aspect of this wonderful place that fell below "Excellent" but then, "Good" is...good!

Our gratitude to all at Springfields!

Our mum was in Springfields for just over a month this year. The care was outstanding, every single person involved with mum was friendly, compassionate and went out of their way to help mum and us as a family. I'm a senior care assistant myself with no other connection to this home besides mum being a resident there and I cannot recommend this home highly enough. Mum had a larger room which was perfect, the gardens are magnificent and the atmosphere was just warm and calming, the food was excellent and staff wonderful! 5 stars from me.
