Birchy Hill care home provides residential, nursing and dementia care for up to 70 older people.

The home is in the New Forest, on the South Coast, where residents can regularly see deer, birds and even horses roaming the forest. It is just five miles from the seafront. Outside is an expansive garden with walkways and a sensory area. There is also a patio area where residents can sit and enjoy the views and surrounding wildlife.

The brightly decorated home features various lounges and dining areas, two large conservatories and quiet places including a spiritual room and a library. Bedrooms are mostly single with some double options available for couples. Communal areas also benefit from CCTV.

Residents are actively involved in choosing activities. These include a wide range of hobbies, group activities and outings, from quiz nights to boat trips.

Food is freshly prepared in the kitchen with residents' preferences and dietary needs catered for. Families and friends are welcome to dine with their loved ones.

Thank you, management and staff for caring for my wife. I can't call them carers, there more like a family to both my wife and myself. When I visit, the staff in upper cherry court treat her and call her grandma, which is very touching. She is always well groomed with clean clothes when I visit. Thank

Having asked my neighbour (an expert professional in this Nursing and Care Home field) where she would send her mother, should she be in need of Dementia and serious elderly health care, she told me that her absolute first choice would be Birchy Hill. This was because in her opinion the Management and
Staff were, and had been for many years, the most caring and competent of any she had come across in this area. She was absolutely right. My brother and I cannot be more happy with our mother’s care both physical and emotional. We would recommend Birchy Hill to all.

In the years that my mother has lived at Birchy Hill, she has always been treated as an individual, with dignity and respect. The home is immaculately clean, never any bad odours. Staff are routinely trained and genuinely care for the residents. We are happy and confident that mum is in the best place

My aunt entered Birchy Hill in October 2017. Unfortunately, she passed away in April of this year. Throughout the whole of her stay in the nursing home, she was so well looked after. All staff were kind, gentle, understanding and patient. Some members of staff became very close to her, and I felt so
contented that she was looked after as though she were a member of a large family. The director is extremely kind, very competent, and is highly thought of also by his staff. The atmosphere in the home is gentle and welcoming; the location is excellent, the terrace and gardens pleasant to walk in or sit and observe. I was always kept up to date with my aunt's condition; if there were a problem, I was immediately informed. Upon my aunt's demise, the staff acted with sympathy and efficiency, organising her going to the appointed funeral directors. I thank all the staff from the bottom of my heart and will remain a friend for life.

My father is in Cedars at Birchy Hill. My brother and I are so happy that Dad is getting this care. He has made friends as well with the staff and residents. The staff at Birchy Hill are excellent and so caring. With the covid19 outbreak, we have not been able to see Dad until a couple of weeks ago.
The staff have pulled all the stops out caring for our Dad. I would recommend Birchy Hill Care Home to anybody. The support, management, staff, food and facilities are excellent.

My husband was a resident in Birchy Hill Care Home Sway Hampshire for just over 2 years. Sadly he passed away in April this year. During his time there, I can only speak very highly of the home. All the staff and carers were polite, kind, compassionate and very dedicated, with a high level of care.
Visitors are always made very welcome to the home with a cup of tea or coffee on arrival.
The food is excellent and relatives are offered a meal if they would like to join their loved ones
There is always a variety of extremely good activities and entertainment which I was able to attend on many occasions.
I couldn't have wished for my husband to have spent his final years in a more caring home.
I would definitely have no hesitation in recommending Birchy Hill Care Home.

Throughout the ten months my mother spent at Birchy Hill, we were impressed with the care she received. The staff were kind and compassionate and this ensured my mother settled very quickly. The staff were also very welcoming to us, were always ready to listen to any concerns and were open and honest.
We feel that we definitely made the right decision in choosing Birchy Hill and feel that Mum had the best care there and would have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

I visit my father regularly and have always found him clean, comfortable and well cared for. I receive a warm welcome from all the caring staff and I feel my father is in a safe and caring environment. The care my father receives has made him feel calm and secure and he does not complain about his care.
I and my family, who also visit when they can, live in Kent, feel that our Dad is getting the best care he can.

My mother has been in Birchy Hill, for just over 6 months. It is such a great comfort to know she is so well cared for.
In my experience as a regular visitor, all the staff are absolutely amazing, providing excellent care with compassion, respect and kindness.
The Chef, had a meeting with us to
discuss Mum's food preferences etc. There are a variety of wonderful activities that take place for the residents and family to attend if they wish. Importantly, the level of care provided by the Management, Nursing and Caring staff is excellent and responsive. Housekeeping does a brilliant job with the laundry and keeping the Home and rooms clean.

My mum was in Birchy Hill Care Home for almost two years. The care that she received in there was second to none. This was her fourth home.
The staff were all so kind and helpful, not just to Mum, but to us too. Mum’s Alzheimer’s was quite severe in the end, but they still treated her with dignity
and respect. She was always clean, had her hair done nicely and jewellery or a scarf put on her - even though she no longer knew. Nothing was too much trouble.
It was always spotlessly clean at the home. It had little touches which had been missing from previous places.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Birchy Hill Care Home. Though it was a very nice home in terms of decor and gardens, I think it was wonderful because of the care and consideration that all of the staff gave - no matter what their job.

My mum was in Birchy Hill Care Home for 10 months. It was the 5th care home she stayed in, 2 were for respite. Birchy Hill was the best Care Home she stayed in. From the manager to the cleaner, they were, without exception, the best I have come across. The atmosphere in the home was always very friendly,
staff never passed without speaking to you. When visiting you felt so at home, nothing appeared to be too much trouble and a cup of tea or coffee was always offered.


I always found my mother well cared for, she was clean, in clean clothes and well groomed. The staff always took the trouble to put on her earrings, bracelets etc. to match her clothes. Her room and the rest of the care home was always spotless. The care staff were the most caring, considerate, kind and efficient that we have ever met. This was the only care home my mother never complained to me about. I would recommend this care home without hesitation. A great place with great people!

I am the operations director for the Angel Care/MNS Care group of care homes. I qualified as a mental health nurse training in 1991 and as an adult nurse in 1996. I have worked in social care, specialising in older people since 1991, as I made the positive decision to work in this rewarding sector after I first qualified.


I have been a nurse, deputy manager, registered manager, quality manager & assistant director. I have been an operations director for many years prior to joining this company, I have a passion for making a difference and a wide knowledge base, and I love working and being a leader in social care.
