Birchy Hill care home provides residential, nursing and dementia care for up to 70 older people.

The home is in the New Forest, on the South Coast, where residents can regularly see deer, birds and even horses roaming the forest. It is just five miles from the seafront. Outside is an expansive garden with walkways and a sensory area. There is also a patio area where residents can sit and enjoy the views and surrounding wildlife.

The brightly decorated home features various lounges and dining areas, two large conservatories and quiet places including a spiritual room and a library. Bedrooms are mostly single with some double options available for couples. Communal areas also benefit from CCTV.

Residents are actively involved in choosing activities. These include a wide range of hobbies, group activities and outings, from quiz nights to boat trips.

Food is freshly prepared in the kitchen with residents' preferences and dietary needs catered for. Families and friends are welcome to dine with their loved ones.

From the day my husband was admitted to Birchy Hill Care Home at the beginning of April I was very impressed with everything I witnessed, from initial greeting to introduction to various staff members. During my husbands stay nothing has been too much trouble, all staff very polite & accommodating.
Everything is clearly explained, additional service ie hairdressing & podiatry excellent. Accommodation is well-maintained & appropriate to user needs.

The staff at Birchy Hill are so lovely with the residents. They do not hesitate to reassure them when they are anxious and are always so friendly and kind. The residents always seem happy when they are around and they arrange lots of activities for them.

Our mother arrived at Birchy Hill 2 years ago, from then until her passing her last month she received exemplary care from the management and carers. We really have no complaints. The facilities are quiet, clean, spacious and well laid out including a lovely garden when it's warm enough to go outside.
The care home is a 15 minute walk from the station if you're unable to drive. The care our mother received was attentive and kind. At her previous care home eating was an issue (time and food wise), however at Birchy our mother soon gained weight due to the nutritious meals and the ability of the kitchen to blend every course/meal to the right consistency so our mother could eat. Our mother passed away at Birchy Hill in February 25 and up until the end of the life we were satisfied the best was being done for her.

Birchy Hill Care Home is a well maintained property. Decorations & furnishings are great for the residents.
The management & staff (nurses) are very kind and attentive and are always very welcoming.
The food is plentiful and well cooked. Residents likes & dislikes are catered for which is good.
My
husband has had some health issues which have been sorted out by the health team.

My wife came to Birchy Hill after an operation and aftercare. She has been treated with kindness and dignity by all of the helpful and caring staff. The nurses oversee her medical requirements and the food choices are very good. There is an excellent range of activities each day, which the residents
look forward to and the staff sometimes join in, run by an enthusiastic events manager. The gardens are well maintained and much enjoyed when the weather allows. Birchy has its own coach which is used to take residents on outings, to keep in touch with the wider world. Again much enjoyed. The library has a wide range of books etc. which I have used to entertain my wife and residents use frequently. It's always a pleasure to visit and there are lots of options for us to choose to do. You should visit, you might be surprised.

My 66-year-old husband has early-onset Alzheimer's and needed to go into residential care as I was struggling to meet his needs at home. All the lovely staff contributed to making this huge and upsetting decision run as smoothly as possible. The efficient handymen ensured my husband's room was freshly
painted, with our pictures put up exactly where we'd asked for them.
All the hard-working staff are friendly, welcoming friends and family alike. The staff closely involved in my husband's care show a genuine interest in him as a person and ask us about his likes and dislikes to ensure they make him as happy as possible. Any issues are quickly resolved, e.g. a broken lamp was promptly replaced.
The activities team excelled themselves leading up to Christmas, creating a fun-filled atmosphere. (The busy staff even found time to join in.)
The admin lady is a 'font of all knowledge' and has been quietly wonderful and an essential part in helping our family cope with this huge change in our lives.

Birchy Hill Care Home is a home from home for me and my family and we enjoy every visit knowing that all of the staff go above and beyond to care of their patients as well as visitors.
The atmosphere is always warm and welcoming with so many occasions celebrated that there is always something to get
involved with or learn from.
I trust Birchy Hill with my loved one implicitly and find peace in the fact that I am included in their care plan and regularly updated if I am unable to visit for a couple of days.
My whole family are forever grateful that we found Birchy Hill and are confident to recommend their outstanding care and facilities to anyone who enquires.

My husband has been a resident in Birchy Hill Care Home for the last 19 months, having previously had four unsuccessful placements in other homes. He is now happy and contentedly settled in the wonderful and caring environment of Birchy Hill.
The care and nursing staff are without exception wonderful,
so kind, patient and understanding, taking time to know each resident and their individual needs, nothing is ever too much trouble. They also readily offer support and understanding to relatives.
Birchy has a wonderful and extremely varied programe of entertainment organised by a dedicated team of ladies full of enthusiasm, who also interact and know all residents.
The meals are home-cooked and well-balanced all overseen by the head chef.
Everyone contributes to the happy and friendly atmosphere, from the manager (who visits each resident daily) to the cleaning team, the maintenance and groundsmen, all greeting the residents and visitors whilst keeping everything immaculate.

All staff are caring and dedicated to the welfare of their patients. The staff are professional and courteous at all times and have great skill as they complete their various roles.
The gentleness, patience, good humour and kindness of staff have been evident over a course of fourteen years of looking
after our mother.
At all times, intimate care has been undertaken with great respect and dignity for our mother on a daily basis - a really almost angelic service.
The kitchen staff have provided good, wholesome food and when needed, have taken the time and trouble to puree food or provide alternatives if needed.

We cannot sing the manager and his entire team's praises enough for the excellent care they provide to our mother! Every aspect of her physical care and well being is delivered with genuine sincerity and consistency. Their communication to us is excellent and always with Granny's best interest.
The
environment is outstanding - clean, warm and welcoming. We visit Granny often and are always made to feel welcome by the team. The team members in her community are consistent which is so important - they all know Granny and her needs and they all know us!
Granny has had a tough couple of years settling in other care homes for various reasons and it is with our gratitude to the manager and his team at Birchy Hill for the genuine care and support they give to us all.
Birchy Hill Care Home is the example that every nursing and care home provider should strive to be like.

The "Christmas extravaganza" programme of activities has been exceptionally well-organised with a wonderful mix of parties, concerts, carol singing, pantomime, a nativity performance and much more. Frequent visits from outside groups, including Beavers, the church, college, not to mention regularly
appearing musicians, have sometimes made Birchy Hill Care Home feel more like a theatre/entertainment centre than a care home. The "leisure and lifestyle" team have done an exceptional job throughout the year in creating a happy atmosphere but this Christmas season they have gone above and beyond their normal range of activities.
Thank you to three members of staff, in particular, for being the icing on the cake that is Birchy Hill.
Enormous thanks to all the staff who have cared for my wife so well throughout 2024. I wish you all a very Happy Christmas!

There is always a friendly smile and welcoming. Everyone is great, right down to maintenance. It creates a family atmosphere which is needed for the residents. Catering is fantastic, plenty of choice and caters for the individual. If they haven't got it, will go out and get it.
Cannot speak highly
enough of this home. The grounds are lovely and well-maintained too.

The care home has just put on a wonderful Christmas party for all the residents and they went over and above with all their hard work. This is not a one-off, the staff always give their very best. Always smiling and understanding well the needs of all the residents and are caring and kind to all the
visitors. Every time I visit, the same show of attention and affection never ceases to amaze me.
My mother is extremely well looked after and all her needs are well met, she feels loved and is always happy.

My mum has been living in this home for a number of years. She is very much at home here. The staff are always friendly and look after her needs really well. It is a happy homely place and I would highly recommend it for any loved one. They have a full programme of activities and where possible involve

For any in need of care, Birchy Hill Care Home is the place to be - safe and cosy, with plenty of activities and staffed entirely by naturally charming and caring people.
My elderly wife has dementia and has been resident there for five years - she doesn't understand her situation and her words are
unclear but she still commonly giggles at any attention - a clear sign she's quite happy at Birchy Hill.

I am the operations director for the Angel Care/MNS Care group of care homes. I qualified as a mental health nurse training in 1991 and as an adult nurse in 1996. I have worked in social care, specialising in older people since 1991, as I made the positive decision to work in this rewarding sector after I first qualified.
