Birchy Hill care home provides residential, nursing and dementia care for up to 70 older people.

The home is in the New Forest, on the South Coast, where residents can regularly see deer, birds and even horses roaming the forest. It is just five miles from the seafront. Outside is an expansive garden with walkways and a sensory area. There is also a patio area where residents can sit and enjoy the views and surrounding wildlife.

The brightly decorated home features various lounges and dining areas, two large conservatories and quiet places including a spiritual room and a library. Bedrooms are mostly single with some double options available for couples. Communal areas also benefit from CCTV.

Residents are actively involved in choosing activities. These include a wide range of hobbies, group activities and outings, from quiz nights to boat trips.

Food is freshly prepared in the kitchen with residents' preferences and dietary needs catered for. Families and friends are welcome to dine with their loved ones.

I have just attended the annual Christmas party for residents and family members. It was fantastic as always. Staff are so attentive bringing drinks and asking if we all need anything. The entertainment is brilliant, the atmosphere is magical and the food served is amazing! Such a lovely atmosphere
for my mum and all the residents here.
Birchy Hill goes above and beyond with all activities and events, celebrating every day and anniversary there is. A fantastic place.

I go to Birchy Hill Care Home a lot and the staff are always happy, nice, polite and helpful. And I enjoy helping and being Father Christmas at Christmas at Birchy Hill. I can rest easy knowing my best mate is being well looked after as there are a lot of bad care homes around but not Birchy Hill, keep
doing what you do and more.

Excellent communication from the nurse at Birchy Hill. She has kept me informed about my father's condition even though it was not serious, but the updates are much appreciated. The care staff are all very good and make the care home very comfortable.

A different review, but one that needs to be told.
Following discussion with the home, GP and myself, it was evident Dad’s health was deteriorating. As his daughter and POA, I made the decision for his end-of-life care to be at Birchy Hill.
Dad passed with me at his side. During the transition,
the staff did all they could to make Dad comfortable. He was treated with respect and kindness, whilst also looking after me, exhausted and emotional. During this time, I was touched by staff popping in to see how Dad was.
Dad’s care was passed onto the funeral directors with dignity and compassion. He left his home for the last time by the front door, with music playing, and an entrance hall lined by those who had looked after him. One final goodbye.
Dementia is a long, hard and emotional road for all involved. Thank you Birchy Hill for walking the last part of this journey with us, for allowing me to be a daughter again and for some final happy memories with my dad, which I will cherish.

This fantastic care home has been a part of our lives home for 12 years. Both parents have been cared for by the manager and his fantastic team. We have seen this home develop and flourish into the most welcoming home from home. It is always spotlessly clean, the food is excellent and the entertainment/activities
programme is incredible. The decor, the gardens, the facilities as a whole really are a sight to behold. The residents have so much to see and do inside if they are able to participate and a minibus for trips away from home. It is located in a beautiful part of the New Forest and there are plenty of places to visit close by with your relative.
If you are looking for a top-notch care home where your loved one will be extremely well cared for and entertained then please visit Birchy Hill and see for yourself what it has to offer.

It is now just five years since my wife became a happy resident at Birchy Hill.
In all that time under ever-changing national and world conditions, the quality of the complete staff never waned. She has now passed away, but the family will not forget how competent, friendly, and caring everyone there
was and is.
She enjoyed the lovely food, the varied activities and events and the competent personal care given to her all in a safe environment.

I was delighted with the huge care that the staff at Birchy Hill took of my father. The staff treated him with superb dignity and respect throughout his time in the home. He was incredibly well looked after and felt really at home.
Every member of the care team showed immense understanding and professionalism.
Dad was always happy, and I felt very welcomed and comfortable during my visits.
The wide range of activities on offer, although not Dad's thing, was highly impressive. There was no end to celebrations and special occasions that were always taking place.
Thanks to everyone that played a part in making Dad so happy. I cannot recommend you enough.

A close family friend who suffers from dementia and Parkinson's disease has spent several months at Birchy Hill prior to returning to Australia. During his stay at Birchy Hill, he has been very well looked after, the staff are considerate and caring. The food and accommodation are excellent.
Previously
our friend had tried three other local residential homes, none of them were as well run or welcoming as Birchy Hill.
We would not hesitate to recommend Birchy Hill to other families who have a loved one they want cared for.

My dad spent his last years at the home and when he sadly passed away the home put a bench with his name on outside his room window. I can just imagine sitting there and chatting to my dad about the garden.
What a lovely tribute to my dad and a way for him to live on at the home, looking at the garden

My dad was at Birchy Hill Care Home for a couple of years and he truly enjoyed himself. The staff are very caring and really treated Dad with respect and care. Dad's time was full of happy occasions all of which were beautifully shown on Facebook.
One thing I will say, as someone who understands a
bit about care settings, the CQC rating is not the only way to judge somewhere, you can see from the staff and residents what a setting is like. There are also these personal reviews too, like many review sites, this will tell you how others saw each setting. For my dad, he really was comfortable and that is what felt so right about it all. We all have guilt letting someone who has done so much for us be cared for by others but at Birchy Hill are professional, understanding and ready to cope with any eventuality pretty well but with heart and feeling, patience and passion, sympathy and empathy.

My husband has been a resident in Birchy Hill Care Home since August 2022. He relocated to Birchy Hill after experiencing multiple falls in a previous care home and needed additional support and care. Birchy Hill was able to provide that additional support and care. Birchy Hill has managed to create
and maintain a care “home” environment where my husband feels valued, included and safe. Staff are well trained, respectful and competent in their various areas of expertise and consistently deliver high standards of care. My husband’s room is bright, comfortable and personalised. A profile or summary of a life well-lived hangs on the wall near his bed so staff are able to better relate and pre-empt memories and conversations with him. As a retired health professional, I have observed a 'culture of care' and mutual support amongst staff and management. I can highly recommend Birchy Hill Care Home.

My husband, who has dementia, was transferred from another home who could no longer meet his needs! I initially was concerned about this disruption to his familiar environment, routine and personnel. I needn't have worried. The staff are so experienced and knowledgeable about how to care for his needs.
He has been at Birchy Hill Care Home for eight months and there has been a consistency of personnel. They are all gentle, respectful and unhurried. There is a wonderful range of activities and relatives are kept updated by posts via social media. We have been invited to the summer fete, Christmas party and other events.

Since my wife moved into Birchyhill I have had no major concerns regarding her care, health and general well-being.
She was welcomed during the first lockdown in the summer of 2020; the restriction of visits etc obviously made it very difficult for me to adjust but with regular updates from the team
at Birchyhill my fears and concerns were eased.
The management team led by the Manager and a very caring woman in the office, coordinating the visits when permitted works very well and I find them always trying their utmost to satisfy my small demands.
I am very happy with the set-up at Birchyhill, beautiful grounds, always very clean and presentable and I have no worries with my wife's care.
Due to my wife's condition she can no longer partake in physical activities - in the early days she was often up dancing and singing along with the music(ABBA especially)but she is always included in the activities room enjoying the busy social programme.

I live in Spain and so cannot visits Dad very often, but each time I have, he has been clean, tidy and happy. I get frequent phone calls to update me on how Dad is going and also I follow him on Facebook. I am more than happy to leave him in Birchy Hills care.

My husband sadly passed away in December after two years at Birchy Hill. I thank the manager and care staff for everything they did to make his life comfortable and make me feel welcome when visiting. Sadly visits were limited due to Covid, and maybe my husband didn’t recognise me so much, but those
visits were very special to me. I made the best choice as a home for him and would recommend this lovely home to anyone. I thank you all again for your loving and caring support during the most difficult times, you have all worked so hard. Take care everyone.

My husband passed away in December having spent nearly 4-years here. I cannot fault the care he received whilst there. The staff were so kind to him and indeed to me and all his visitors always ready with a cup of tea! The food was very good. My husband was elsewhere for two months, and the difference
in care and staff here was so much better. All staff that I met were wonderfully friendly helpful, and most importantly, caring. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this home. All I can say is a big thank you.

My father spent the final years of his life in Birchy Hill and my mother has recently been a resident there. I cannot recommend the home highly enough. The staff are excellent: caring, compassionate, full of fun and also provide a wonderful level of care. I have never had any concerns about the well-being
of my mother. This principle of genuine care is led by manager Mark Yon and distilled throughout the home. On a business side, processes are excellent, response times exemplary- as a family, we have never had any concerns.
The whole experience of dealing with Birchy Hill has been exceptional in every aspect.

I am the operations director for the Angel Care/MNS Care group of care homes. I qualified as a mental health nurse training in 1991 and as an adult nurse in 1996. I have worked in social care, specialising in older people since 1991, as I made the positive decision to work in this rewarding sector after I first qualified.


I have been a nurse, deputy manager, registered manager, quality manager & assistant director. I have been an operations director for many years prior to joining this company, I have a passion for making a difference and a wide knowledge base, and I love working and being a leader in social care.
