My sister seems happy as a resident but when visiting, I am sometimes very annoyed at how long residents in the lounge have to wait when they ring the bell for the toilet. Not acceptable in view of the fees for care.

Apart from this, it seems a caring place to be.

My father has been in excellent hands since being admitted to the home. He has been well provided for in clean, hygenic and very pleasant surroundings. The staff have been very helpful and attentive at all times. Hopefully, I would not need the services of the care home again, but should the need ever arise, I would not hesitate in choosing the Chandlers Ford Care home again.

A home with lots for residents to take part in and staff to encourage them.
As PAT dog visitor and as a relative, I am always warmly welcomed.

Residents look well cared for with particular requests respected.

On our first visit to ‘H.C. ONE Chandlers Ford’ we were greeted by the administrator who explained the ethos of the home but didn’t pressurise us to make a hasty decision.
When my mother arrived from hospital she was greeted by staff who made her feel welcome as one of the large family at Chandler’s Ford. Since then we have been amazed at the care and devotion given by the staff.
She has always been looked after with great dignity and care.
Her patient notes are continually updated which gives continuity of care.
The building is secure and visitors are checked in by a staff member, this also means that residents can’t wander out without staff knowing this gives us great peace of mind.
The food always looks appetising and is varied, tea coffee and juice, freshly made cake is available whenever it is wanted.
There is a program of stimulating activities throughout the week which residents relatives are welcome to attend.

We are pleased that we chose to send mum here.

My main concern is that my wife is washed and dressed ready for the physiotherapist when she has a morning appointment.

Apart from this, I am very satisfied with the care given by the home.

Every member of staff I have had contact with has been very friendly, polite and helpful. Mum's room is bright and well decorated with nice furnishings. The food is good and residents can choose whether to eat in the dining room or lounge.

There are activities arranged as well as trips out. I'm very happy indeed with the care given and mum has settled in well.

A very well run care home that's clean, nicely decorated and welcoming. The staff are a great team, getting things done quickly and efficiently. The manager encourages openness with staff and has daily status meetings. Mum is ready on time for appointments, with all her daily needs, such as meds.

Most of the carers treat my Mum with kindness, respect and dignity. They are patient and attentive and she has a lovely relationship with some. They are friendly, helpful and kind to me and greet me with a cheerful welcome. The activities coordinator is enthusiastic, encouraging participation in activities from hat making, planting flowers, quizzes and bingo. There's a minibus for cinema, shopping and garden centre trips. On special occasions, there are tasteful decorations to brighten things up. Wifi and mobile is excellent throughout. All rooms have a TV socket with many channels. My only criticism is there's a shortage of permanent staff and there can be delays with less urgent requests in the evenings.

Thank you for your lovely comments. We are working through our recruitment drive at present and we now have some great permanent staff, we will continue with this as we know how important it is to have continuity, this leads us in good stead to deliver the kindest care possible to our Residents.

Care provided is good but the carers are at times difficult to find. My gran is 94 and forgets things so on 2 occasions now she has not been assisted to get ready for hospital appointments despite prior communication, this is poor show given the amount she pays each week to stay here. There are a few times now in over 2 years of her being there that she has received substandard care for example not being provided a cup of tea, or not having a water jug, basic human needs but she, of course, would not make a fuss. Having had another care home to compare this to it is definitely not good value for money. Her door frame in her room has also been broken for over a year although reported, another issue to contend with. My gran appears settled in her environment and says she is happy with the care but there is room for improvement.

Staff do their best to bring residents into what is going on. Food appears to be fine.
Daily routine of getting dressed, having meals and going to bed can be erratic as staff availability can be stretched. More attention could be given to making sure hot drinks are at an acceptable temperature when delivered so as not to be put on one side and then forgotten until too cold.

Staff are all very friendly, caring and helpful.

The carers are very friendly and kind. They will do anything to help you or any visitors. I have found that you don't get any complaints. It is a very good home. My husband was in this home for 4 years and he was very happy here. You could not wish for a better caring home than this one.

My mother has been a resident for 4.5 years and I am pleased with how the current Manager is making a significant difference to the Home. Gradually gaining staff with good work ethics and standards, all these improvements resulted in a recent GOOD CQC report. All positive signs, giving me confidence that my mother receives good care at all times.
The Manager has an open-door policy and all Care Staff are kind and caring to the Residents and know them and their families well.
The home is well maintained and well cleaned, the Catering Team are aware of each resident’s food preferences and create a good atmosphere at meal times. A range of snacks and fresh fruit are provided and homemade cake and drinks available in the Coffee Lounge.

The residents can join in activities and outings each week plus one to one sessions, the Home has their own Minibus and uses the local Dial a Ride service.

It is so pleasing to see the change for the better at Chandler's Ford

The place is always clean and tidy with no bad smells nor stains. There are smiles on the staff faces and pleasant greetings whenever we visit. The resident's room is clean and he is always shaved and wearing clean clothes. Friends visiting always comment favourably on the place, the people and the level of care.

All the staff are doing their best the only cause for concern is when there is not enough staff on duty.

Last few weeks have seen a lot of residents have gone down with coughs and colds, putting extra strain on overworked care staff.

Thank you very much for taking the time to provide a positive review regarding your Wife’s care at Chandlers Ford. I cannot, currently, recommend the care company as a provider of care to the elderly or disabled. In my opinion, the home has slipped in standards to the point where I no longer trust them as a company. To be clear, the individual carers and nurses, as far as I can tell, do care and work hard, but it appears that their hands are often tied by the pressure they are put under by the care group.

There is a new manager starting at the home shortly. I sincerely hope they can turn things around, where predecessors have failed. It reflects badly on the care group that they’ve allowed this to happen.

I don’t think it's appropriate to go into more detail here. But it’s important to state that this is just my personal opinion. If you’re considering placing a relative here, I suggest you check first with social services regarding the status of any ongoing investigation, as well as other residents at the home and their relatives, so you can base your decision on the most accurate and up-to-date information available.

Fantastic! We needed respite care for my dad who'd had a heart attack and a fall, we were all exhausted and needed some support. They visited us the day we called and they admitted him that afternoon- it was exactly what we needed. Care was fantastic, staff all kind and friendly.

I was very impressed by how attentive and kind the staff at this home were. The managing staff were also extremely helpful. My mother went to this home for a respite period after a stay in hospital so she was not fully fit on arrival, but by the time she left two weeks later she was in a better mood and state of health than she has been in for some time. The manager kindly made it clear that my mother could return at any time for another respite period. She was even welcome for Christmas lunch. My mother found the food to be excellent and appropriate for her needs. A very impressive care home.
