Visiting

Enjoy some of the entertainment especially the concert in the garden. The food is good. The carers are brilliant, the manager is very helpful and supportive.

I have been a resident for 6 months and have settled I in very well. The care, activities and food are excellent. Due to lockdown the home has made it possible for me to keep in touch with my family and friends and ordered art supplies on-line for me.

Our mother has only been in the home for four weeks. The care is good, and the staff are all friendly. The food is very good - all freshly cooked. Very clean, residents look happy. Lots of activities going on and trip out for those that would like to go.

Mum had a lovely welcome from all the staff. Only been at Gorselands for three weeks, but has settled easily. All the staff are polite and welcoming.
Mum doesn't join in with activities as prefers to stay in her room, but still has a visit from the team. Mum often comments on how nice the meals are.

I come to join Gran for lunch and was delighted at the care being shown towards her by all the staff. Food was amazing. The activities co-ordinator was engaging with a group of other residents and I was amazed by the attention she was able to give all the residents in her care.

Today I joined a friend for lunch at Gorselands. I can't express how much I enjoyed this. Not only was I made to feel really welcome and comfortable, the food was beautiful, all homemade and served to perfection. The manager came to speak to me and was kind and courteous. All the staff were lovely,
and I could see that they really cared.

Gorselands oozes welcome and warmth.
It is sufficiently casual and relaxed in relationships to encourage relaxation and contentment, but professional in all necessary ways.
My husband is so happy there, and I am relaxed because he is well cared for in every way.

My mum has been here since May. We are always made welcome, can have a meal with mum and get offered a cuppa. Staff are always kind and helpful to mum and her dog, nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff.

A benchmark that all nursing homes should aspire to.
A home that truly practices its values by consistently delivering the highest level of care, compassion and empathy by encompassing every aspect of the persons well being.
Great home cooked food, fantastic life enriching activities for the residents
practised by every single team member there. The organised activities are excellent, plentiful and varied and the coordinator can never do enough to ensure the resident's social needs and expectations are exceeded. Incredible personal care by all the angels who work there. There is always so much love and laughter in the home.
It's a home that is led by a most wonderful home manager whose support, time and dedication not only to my mother but to our whole family.
I work within the social health and care sector and am very grateful my mother is fortunate to be in what I consider a home that truly has got it right!
A massive and heartfelt thank you to each and everyone of you.

Mark Gibbs

My wife and I took over the running of Gorselands Nursing Home more than 6 years ago. Gorselands has been in our family for more than 20 years, with most of those years having my parents at the helm.


Sadly, we lost my beloved mother a few years ago following a long-term illness. My wife and I took over the running of Gorselands as it is a very special and idyllic home where my mother wished to live out her last days.


We by no means, attempt to keep up with the brand-new clinical-like homes. However, what we do is create a home-from-home experience. We try to maintain the old ways that our parents and grandparents loved to cherish. We offer home-cooked meals, love, and care, and our desire is to ensure a lifelong home for our residents. In a very minimal number of cases, we need to refer some of our residents to specialised homes if we feel their safety or the safety of others could be compromised. However, it is rare.


We would love for you to experience a day with the Gorselands family and invite you to pop along and meet the team. We can always discuss a solution that will fit your needs over a warm cup of tea.

Ciprian Silaghi

Have you ever wondered how Gorselands keeps running like a well-oiled machine?


Our Home Manager, Ciprian, has a big part to play in that.


He first came to the UK in 2014 as a healthcare assistant and by 2015 he'd become a registered nurse. Three years later, he joined Gorselands Nursing Home and has been here ever since.


Ciprian loves the stunning countryside around our home and enjoys supporting the team and our residents in his current role as Deputy Manager.


He has worked in the care sector for nine years now - so if you ever have any questions about care for an elderly relative, he's the man to ask!

Kay Jerrams

Hello, my name is Kay, and I am proud to be part of the dedicated and compassionate team here at Gorselands Nursing Home, where I serve as the Clinical Lead Nurse and a Mental Health First Aider.


I bring with me over 45 years of experience in social care, having had the privilege of working in a wide variety of roles throughout my career. I began my journey in care as a carer, eventually qualifying as a Registered Nurse in 1992. Since then, I have held multiple leadership positions, including Care Home Manager and Operations Manager, allowing me to support both residents and care teams across several settings.


One of my most memorable and proudest achievements was commissioning a care home from the ground up - a project that allowed me to shape a safe, supportive, and resident-centred environment from day one. My career has always been driven by a deep passion for caring for older people, as well as for supporting the dedicated staff who work tirelessly to make a difference every single day.


At Gorselands, I work closely with our Home Manager, nursing team, and care staff to maintain the highest standards of clinical care and resident well-being. I am also committed to promoting mental health awareness and support within the team in my role as a Mental Health First Aider. This is something I feel very strongly about - ensuring that both our residents and staff feel heard, supported, and understood.


Gorselands is more than just a care home - it is a warm, welcoming, and homely place where each resident is valued as an individual. There is a genuine sense of community here, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of it.

Anca Toma

Anca is a compassionate and dedicated nurse with more than a decade of experience in the UK.


She takes immense pride in her work and is committed to delivering excellent care to her patients. Anca's experience as an emergency nurse for five years in Romania has shaped her perspective on healthcare, and she carries that valuable experience with her in her current role.


She feels fortunate to be part of the supportive and collaborative team at Gorselands, where she can provide high-quality care to her patients.

Adam

Adam Waller

Job Title: Head Chef Joined: 2021

Our skilful and smiling Head Chef at Gorselands - Adam.


He started working in kitchens at the age of 16 as a kitchen porter, working his way up the ranks at The Woolpack in Sopley, whilst studying at catering college in Bournemouth and Poole.


Whilst attending college, Adam took on work placements at the Dormy House Hotel in the Cotswolds and at Claridges in London, before returning to run The Woolpack's kitchen. Later in his career, he moved over to Tyrrells Ford Country Hotel near Christchurch to become their Head Chef, before switching to Sous Chef at The Alice Lisle near Ringwood. (We think you'll agree, that's a pretty impressive CV!)


Adam has now been Head Chef at Gorselands for two years, after deciding to leave the pub industry behind and try something new. His career has always had a fresh food focus and it remains his top priority when delivering delicious homemade meals for our residents, each and every day.

Paula

Paula Delong

Job Title: Chef Joined: 2016

Paula started her catering career back in 1979, working for Whitbread Inns, who encouraged her to study at a catering college and get her City & Guilds qualifications.


She then successfully ran her own business for seven years, but when Paula began to get fed up with the long hours, she joined the team at Gorselands, initially as a carer, but we couldn't let those culinary skills go to waste!


Paula has now been with us for a long time and loves being part of the tight-knit Gorselands team.

Eileen

Eileen Pryce

Job Title: Social Carer Joined: 2019

In 1997, Eileen started working as a caregiver in nursing homes. Her dedication and compassion helped her to become a registered manager over the years. She moved to the New Forest but couldn't stay away from Gorselands nursing home, where she now brings joy as a social carer on the activity team.


However, her favourite moments are spent in the forest, taking her 2 chow chows out for a walk. Every step taken in the woods is a reminder of life's simple joys and the love she brings to her caring job.


Eileen's story is one of love, service, and dedication. She leaves a lasting impact on everyone she meets.

Jodie

Jodie Lapham

Job Title: Activity Team Joined: 2022

Meet Jodie, who works at Gorselands in the activities team. She previously worked in a care facility and another home, organising activities.


She enjoys being with all the residents and has continued this passion at Gorselands. Jodie also worked abroad in Cyprus as a TUI children's representative, which was a great experience.


Her talents include dancing and competing in competitions, as well as swimming. She also enjoys spending time in the sun, travelling, and being with her daughter and husband.
