Overall Experience

My husband went to Gorseway 8 years ago and I have to say the care and attention he is getting has improved immensely since Barchester care took over the Gorseway. The staff are all very good. The leisure and entertainment department and the young lady in care also very good. Of course there are times when I have to mention something is not as it should be, but it is always put right and the problem is solved. So I am very happy to have my husband being cared for at Gorseway Hayling Island.

Good care home. Less staff changes would be better. Always a pleasure to visit.

I would like to start by thanking all the wonderful staff at the Lodge who looked after my mother during the last week of her life. Not only was she treated with kindness, dignity, care and respect, we her family were also shown the same consideration. Nothing was ever too much trouble. I would not hesitate to recommend the Lodge to anyone looking for nursing care for a relative. All the staff gave care which went far beyond their duty. Thank you.

My grandmother received wonderful care at the Lodge by the lovely staff at Gorseway. It made a difficult time for her family easier, to see her treated so respectfully and with such dignity. I would recommend the Lodge to anyone looking for a loving and caring home.

The staff at Gorseway Lodge are amazing people, we could not have asked for better care for our Mother. She was treated with kindness, respect and dignity by everyone - the nursing staff, carers, domestic staff and the managers. Our family were made to feel welcome at all times and they were as concerned for our welfare as hers. We felt that our mum was the only person they had to think about. I can't recommend them highly enough.

I have a very pleasant, comfortable room, and am very well looked after by excellent staff.

The recent (last two years) management upheaval causes me a level of uncertainty and worry. The meals are repetitious and the preparation can be unimaginative. If the management could be stabilised and the cuisine improved, this could be the ideal care home.

Reply from Rebecca Jarvis, General Manager at Gorseway Park Retirement Village

Thank you for your review. As the new manager in post I am able to bring stability to the home and a consistency that you have not felt in the last 2 years. In terms of the cuisine here I thank you for your feedback and can now start to focus on improving and adding variety to the menu, consultation with the people who live here will be key to this process.

I live in one of the individual living independent flats in Gorseway. I use the facilities and enjoy the lunches. The entertainments are varied and very enjoyable and the arranger of these is kind and she is loved by all well respected for her care.
