My mum moved into Homefield last month and has settled in very well with the staff very welcoming to me as mum’s previous main carer. They’ve been so accepting of tips on providing the best support for mum’s needs. All the carers have been so caring and gentle with mum who suffers from severe dementia and anxiety.

When our family member was transferred to Homefield House after a long stay in hospital we could see really quickly an improvement in their appearance and well-being. Our family member is not the easiest to deal with, but the home has found ways to deal with him in a dignified manner.

It is difficult to say how my Father is as he is in the late stages of dementia and is often very confused. Sometimes he is exhausted simply by the process of getting up. Although I love to see him I sometimes feel that he has been got out of bed just because I am coming to see him and I would rather he stay in bed and sleep as this is the only respite for somebody as poorly as he is. The team are caring and he is obviously treated well as he has smiles for everyone.

My mother has been resident in Homefield for the last 18 months. I have worked for over 20 years in services for older people and so am very familiar with a range of nursing homes and I feel really fortunate to have found Homefield House. There are some really good, caring staff and I've always had a warm welcome and feel satisfied that my mum has good care. I think one member of staff is particularly brilliant, initially in our time, as Deputy and now Home Manager. I don't know how she does it but she has always been calm, sensible, responsive and helpful despite what I imagine can be quite a busy and challenging job at times. Thank you.

Mum was accepted for care and support into Homefield, during the start of covid restrictions in March 2020. During her stay at Homefield, she received professional care and emotional support from your great staff and colleagues. Your dedicated staff brightened her way of life during her stay with you, and the family thank you so much. We were so fortunate to see mum during her stay, as was located in a front room of Lavender, which provided family relief during this so difficult time of covid and also raised mum's spirits. Would certainly recommend Homefield, as have a caring team who provide a so important service for our loved ones.

Very difficult to say much this year with covid as we have only seen Mum once since March 12th... hard, but we totally understand why. The staff have been great and keep our 'loved ones' safe.

Homefield House is an outstanding nursing home. My mother has been well looked after here by dedicated, kind and compassionate staff for over ten years now. She is supported in a caring and inclusive environment, and one in which respects individuality to best meet the needs of each resident. Homefield benefits from an exemplary team of professionals, including experienced nurses and carers. Mum responds positively to those looking after her and any changes to her medical or nursing needs have been quickly identified and addressed. I've always been kept up to date and consulted regarding this.

The home and its staff have responded proactively to the ongoing situation, with enhanced infection control measures put in place. Technology has been utilised to help keep families connected to their loved ones in addition to window and garden visits. Care continues to be delivered to the highest of standards at all times. I highly recommend Homefield to others. It is a special place.

Review from William L (Partner of Resident) published on 19 April 2019 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

In the ten years my partner has been a resident of Homefield House, I have constantly been impressed by the care and diligence shown by all the staff. Indeed, Homefield has a very “homely “ and intimate “feel” which is aided by its unique design. Residents are treated as individuals with due consideration to their very varied needs which may be complex and changing. Individual Care Plans (and associated documentation) are regularly reviewed (with family involvement) and modified to address changing needs and interests. There is a full programme of activities – including day trips, external entertainers and involvement of the local community (organised by a dedicated Activities Co-ordinator) - which are tailored to an individual’s need with the aim that everyone is involved and stimulated to the extent of their abilities. No one is “parked” and all staff (whatever their position) take time to regularly interact with the residents. All in all, my partner receives excellent care.

The staff really care for the resident and family dementia care has to be such hard work with the long hours they do. The surgery makes their job very difficult and in my relative's case, the surgery let him down at the end of his life.
