Overall Experience

My mother came into Marlborough 5 and a half years ago. Whilst at Marlborough, my mother was extremely happy and well looked after. She so enjoyed the activities and the socialising with the other residents. in the latter year my mother became unwell and the staff were so kind and managed to look after her with dignity. I would like to say that myself and family were always made to feel at home and nothing was too much trouble.

My mother has been at Marlborough House for 7 months now. I have found the care she receives is excellent; the staff are always very caring and treat her with respect.

Marlborough House is a home from home for her. They provide a wide range activities for the residents to take part in, which is very important.

I would recommend Marlborough House as a wonderful place for anyone needing that special care at any point in their lives.

Review from Colin W (Brother of Resident) published on 13 April 2017 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My brother was transferred to Marlborough House from hospital in June 2015, after suffering a fall at his previous sheltered housing. Given his challenging behaviour and communication difficulties I was content with the care he received from the nursing and care staff at Marlborough House. He died in February 2017 after having refused food and drink for the last 2 weeks of his life. A bit disappointing that nobody from Marlborough House attended his funeral.

Reply from Jamie Braganza, Director at Marlborough House

We can only apologise that no-one from the home attended your Brothers funeral. We do try to send a representative from the home to all the funerals of our former residents, however occasionally, because of unforeseen operational issues, this not possible. Where this is the case, we would normally...

Review from Ron M (Friend of Resident) published on 3 October 2016 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Our 94-year-old friend was transferred from Frimley Park Hospital in May 2015. At that time she was having difficulty communicating, could not feed herself and in a frustrated and depressed condition. We have been very impressed with her transformation achieved by the staff at Marlborough. She is now always cleanly presented, able to feed herself and enjoys participating in the excellent range of activities.

Her previous homes were unaware that she was hoarding her medication which is now properly controlled and has in fact been reduced. There is always a happy atmosphere and the staff make time to engage with her and with us when we visit. Now 96 she enjoyed her birthday party last month and is now more settled than in the last 20 years elsewhere in residential care. Our visits are a pleasure, not a burden, and we have no hesitation in recommending this nursing home.

I will say reasonable. General service is reasonable. Food and atmosphere is acceptable. I do not have any hard criticism of the place.

I like the home. I get on well with all the staff both clinical and non clinical. I do not wish to move anywhere else. Staff are very helpful, courteous and treat me with dignity.

I was upset when my 95 year old neighbour broke his hip and could not cope at home and was admitted to Marlborough House. He had lived on his own for over 50 years, so I thought he would hate socialising as he was always a very private man, wouldn't answer his front door, no T.V or telephone. I have been so impressed how my neighbour has adapted to being in Marlborough House, although he would rather be in his own home, which he knows is unrealistic, he is happy and enjoys the day to day activities. He has forged some lovely friendships and has taken to the staff and routines very well. I have found the staff to be happy and attentive.
