It has been over two years since John arrived at Northcott. He has settled at the beginning he was difficult , however as the illness gets worse he seems to have calmed down. He is well looked after. All the staff are very kind , polite and always smile.

As the niece of one of your residents who has been in Northcott since June 2018 .I am clinically extremely vulnerable and have not been In since March 2020 .I have always been impressed with the environment of Northcott very warm and inviting.with its decorated dinning area, sunny conservatory and residents lounge plus the garden. The room is nicely arranged and the openess to make it individual..
My relative was never very sociable and spent alot of time in her room in the early years but now quite regularly joins in Activities in the lounge and enjoys them especially quizes and also sitting in the garden which I understand has been revamped.
Staff have obviously changed over the years but in general have remained communicative supportive friendly and generally interested in the individuality of resident., they are like a 2nd family!

I would just like to say an entrance to the garden without passing through the home would be an added bonus for people like myself to enable gardenvisit

This care provider failed to meet my relative's needs and basic standards of care, dignity, and safeguarding.

My relative experienced emotional abuse during their stay, leading to police involvement. Serious safeguarding concerns were raised, but no effective action was taken for around four months, until they moved elsewhere. Although they had full mental capacity they were often ignored, not listened to, and treated without dignity. They were left undressed in bed for long periods, sometimes up to 24 hours. Staff spoke over them in their own language instead of communicating directly, and on one occasion appeared focused on their appearance while my relative lay naked. Clothes frequently went missing, cold tea was served because they were "last on the rounds," and there were GDPR breaches. Staff took them to another resident's dental appointment. My relative suffered severe bruising after hitting their head while being hoisted, raising serious safety concerns. I cannot recommend.

Good afternoon

Thank you for completing the review for Northcott. As a care home all we can do is apologise for any concerns that you had, but these were all raised to the manger and the social worker who did investigate any concerns, and they were acted on through the safeguarding process, and complaints process

My dear Mother has been in Northcott House for one year now. I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude & thanks to all the staff for making this possible.
When Mum first went into care, I was extremely concerned as to whether it was the right decision. All sorts of worries went through my mind but one year on I feel very happy with everything that surrounds the care & support Mum is experiencing.
All Staff including cleaners, maintenance, laundry, entertainment etc have been wonderful to my dear Mum. I thank my lucky stars for everything they have done and continue to do for her.
Mum has been out on a few organised outings. This for her is amazing, as for the last few years of her living in her flat alone with me supporting her when I could was a huge challenge just to get her out the front door.
I can finally be a daughter to her now & not a carer.

So Thank you to everyone at Northcott House for your kind thoughtful caring ways you show my Mum.

My partner spent 4 happy weeks at Northcott House, receiving excellent end of life care. The staff were all kind and compassionate and extremely friendly to myself who visited most days. He was treated with individual support, kindness, and respect. He had a complicated wound dressing twice a day which was aways cleaned and dressed with clinical expertise. Meals were well made and varied and cleanliness of the home very good. Care staff were extremely kind alongside the expert clinical nurses. Many thanks for making his time so special before his passing

Review from Simon P (Relative of Resident) published on 6 February 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Despite pleasant surroundings, this care home has serious failings in care, management, and ownership oversight.
We attended six meetings with management about my relative's care, yet nothing improved. Concerns were escalated to ownership, who failed to engage at all.
There were multiple GDPR breaches involving residents, visitors, and carers. After exhausting internal routes, we had no option but to report the home to the CQC.
My relative was later admitted to hospital with dehydration, something that should never occur in a care setting. While in hospital, the home served notice by email, excluding those with medical Power of Attorney and failing to state a notice period.
The home claimed it could no longer meet my relative's needs, despite residents with greater needs remaining. This felt like an attempt to silence continued concerns.

There are good carers here, but many are leaving due to poor management.

I have noticed a fantastic increase of the cleanliness throughout the entire Care home, but especially in my Mum's room. It is always clean, hygienic, and smells clean. When I visited Mum today (18/1/26), I noticed Mum's room. noticed had been reorganised to make more space, de-cluttered, cleaned to an. Immaculate standard. Very Impressive. Thank you.

Mum was a resident of Northcott House for a little more than a year and sadly passed away recently. I am very grateful for the kind and compassionate care shown mum by all the staff, as well as the kindness shown to myself and other family members. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they endeavoured to fulfill our requests with a smile and genuine friendliness, we couldn't really have asked for more for our mum at the end of her life.

Northcott House appears to be a happy home. Every member of staff smiles and says hello to me when I visit. My relative is receiving excellent nursing care, with kindness and compassion. They keep me informed about my relative's health, and any concerns they have. The daily activities in the home are very good, and appear to be enjoyed by everyone. The home is kept very clean, and it always smells nice. I highly recommend this home.

Everywhere was very neat and tidy and smelled fresh and clean. Mum's room was very clean and tidy. The new portable indoor chair is much better than a wheelchair. We had pre-booked the 'Dining Room' and we valued the care that the carer working the morning had laid up the table beautifully for our lunch. It all felt calm and all staff greeted us warmly as we walked past.

What a lovely bunch of people at Northcott House. My mother wasn't with them for long, unfortunately, but she was treated with dignity and respect even after passing away. Everybody that I came across, from the manager to the cleaners, were all very friendly and helpful and after Mum passed away I was treated with compassion and was not made to rush to empty the room. Can not fault Northcott and would love to say a big thank you to all the staff mum may not have been with you for long, but it was a comfort to know she was being cared for in her last days.

My wife has been a resident at Northcott House for 19 months. In that time I have seen a number of changes in the running of the home. It is now a warm and comfortable home with very good staff and facilities. There had been an issue with the lunchtime food not being as hot as it should have been. Thanks to the management team of three particular staff members, the dining room is now very well organised and the food is hot and plentiful. Well done to all concerned.
