During the 20 months or so my husband was resident in Northcott House. He was treated with kindness, gentleness, respect, dignity and patience. He was not always the easiest resident due to his illness. I could visit at any time and was always made welcome by the carers and other staff who always had a smile. I was phoned if anything was amiss, likewise if he had a particularly good day. If I have a question about the care at any time it was dealt with quickly and rectified. I believe my husband was happy at Northcott as was I. Northcott stuck me as a happy and friendly home.

My mother chose this home herself after visiting various others. She is well cared for in every aspect, she is happy and feels secure. We find the staff very kind and helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them. The home is clean, tidy with lots to stimulate the residents if they want to join in. If we have a problem with any aspect of Mum's care, it is swiftly dealt with.

Northcott House is located in a lovely quiet area with a nice open space/green and it also has a garden.
It has a very homely atmosphere and everyone is very friendly. All the staff who work at Northcott make you feel welcome and are always happy to see you.
From day one Dad was treated with kindness and respect and he settled in well. The care he receives has been fantastic. The carers nurses entertainment staff and management all look after Dad. And we are always kept informed with anything and we can always ask if we have any questions.
Dad has enjoyed his food and he has been eating very well. They have a lovely big dining room and conservatory. All the kitchen staff are lovely and work very hard. Everyone who works at Northcott including laundry and maintenance and admin are always friendly and polite and helpful.

We are pleased that Dad has settled and that he is being cared for well.

My mum is very happy and well cared for both physically and mentally. The staff are kind, caring and happy. The new manager and deputy has made a positive impact on residents' experience, environment and clearly care for the residents' and staff's wellbeing.

My dad has been at Northcott since early 2024 and we as a family are very pleased with the care and compassion shown to him each day. The care and nursing team engage with my dad with his humour and wit and nothing is too much trouble. His room is kept clean and his needs are met with empathy and understanding. Thank you to all the team at Northcott.

Overall Experience

My Mother was not treated with the respect that she deserved. Some of the staff were brilliant and really helped and really cared, whilst others could not have cared less. Her needs were not met satisfactorily. The management lacked basic compassion, they did not listen to any concerns or worries that we raised with them. The management was cold and unfeeling. We as a family found some of their behaviour very offensive. All in all it's a care home that we would not recommend. The management team were good at treating the relatives of the residents with contempt.

Dreadful place. Poor communication. The management team are appalling. They have no understanding of treating patients with dementia with any dignity or respect. The standard of care was poor. Management is very good at covering up their errors.

Thank you all for your kindness and care looking after my wife, especially the last weeks and for the care and love you gave my wife whilst she was with you. My wife could not have been looked after better and we really appreciated all the care you gave her. It has been a difficult time for the family but made much easier knowing she was in the best of hands with everything she needed and that she was happy. That has made such a difference to us. Once again thank you all, we hope you all realise how invaluable you all are and what a difference you make to people's lives by doing what you do.

Overall Experience

My friend is always treated with the utmost courtesy and dignity and her care is tailored to her needs and personal likes and dislikes as much as possible. All the staff are very kind and approachable, and any issues raised with senior nursing staff and management are responded to sympathetically and resolved in a timely manner. I enjoy visiting my friend and am always made very welcome by all the warm and friendly staff, and it is a warmth that permeates all areas of the home.

We have been hugely disappointed by Northcott House. The standard of care we expected and our relative deserved was not provided.
There have been significant inconsistencies in the information given to us and other health professionals as well as prolonged errors with medication.

The Management lacks courage, compassion and credibility.

Overall Experience

My Mum was carefully looked after by Northcott House and she was nursed through a very challenging time. The senior staff/management were very attentive and made themselves available to us whenever we had questions or things to discuss. I cannot praise them highly enough. The new system of logging care needs on mobile handsets seems to be a very useful innovation so that all care staff know about the needs/concerns of their users. The care staff did their best for Mum and our experience was that great kindness and dignity was shown to Mum at all times. We were delighted that Mum could be looked after by Northcott House in the last days of her life.
