Review from Sally Y (Sister of Resident) published on 10 September 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My sister moved to Tudor Lodge following a fall at home and a month in hospital. She unfortunately was unable to walk again so is confined to a wheelchair. Tudor came recommended and I have not been disappointed. My sister has since been diagnosed with other health issues but the staff (all of them) are simply wonderful and have been very supportive to me as well as her. They are all so cheerful and nothing is too much trouble. The home is clean and varied activities are laid on to appeal to all tastes and interests. The food is very good and my sister has settled well and I'm sure enjoys the additional company that care home living provides as opposed to living alone.

Tudor Lodge is a very caring and hands on nursing home which is beautifully decorated and very clean.
Every single member of The Tudor Lodge team helped to make my sister in laws last 5 years so happy and content and when we visited she was always singing and very happy.
The staff were always very attentive and caring, nothing was ever too much trouble when she needed help or wanted something. The nursing team were always there to support her.
The food was always excellent for the residents and delicious home made cakes for the visitors at weekends.
Becky the receptionist was always happy to help when we arrived.
We cannot fault the care, love and kindness my auntie received

A big big thank you to all the team at Tudor Lodge

After nearly 8 weeks in hospital and being told mum was end of life. I was extremely anxious. My mind was completely put at rest. Mum soon settled in, mum's eating and drinking picked up. The wonderful staff got mum out of bed to join in with activities ect. From visiting mum every day i now feel comfortable having the odd day off, as i know mum is well cared for. My only concern is how often staff check on mum when i'm not there.

From the moment I walked into Tudor Lodge I knew that it was where I wanted my father to spend the last few weeks of his life. After a stressful eight-week stay in hospital with an infection that would not clear, my 91 year old father was moved to Tudor Lodge for palliative care. From the first day, the care he received was absolutely wonderful. The staff helped to make his final weeks dignified and filled with small moments of joy. He was even able to sit out in the garden to enjoy a shandy, which meant the world to him and our family. Every single member of the team contributed to the warm, positive atmosphere of this home. The nurses and carers looked after him beautifully, and the deputy managers were incredibly helpful. The receptionist always happy to help, the housekeepers always cheerful, and the kitchen staff who baked the most lovely cakes. Medically and emotionally, we felt completely supported. I would not hesitate to recommend this home to anyone.

My wife needed constant care and was in the process of dying. She was beautifully looked after. Special medication was sought and applied and mouthing was too much trouble. She could not have ended her life better looked after.

The palliative care mum received in her final five weeks was truly exceptional. The staff created a calm, compassionate environment where she was treated with dignity, kindness, and respect at all times.

The home itself is beautiful, with lovely décor and a peaceful atmosphere throughout, which made a real difference during such a difficult time. Thoughtful touches like refreshment drink stations are readily available for family and friends visiting which were also very much appreciated.

Mum's care was delivered with great sensitivity, ensuring she was always comfortable and well cared for. Just as importantly, the team supported our family with warmth, reassurance, and understanding throughout.

We are deeply grateful for the care they gave my mum and for helping her pass peacefully and with dignity.

My mum needed specialist care and a lot of medical attention and the team at Tudor Lodge looked after her well. Especially the nurses who made sure she was comfortable throughout her stay, and kept us up to date with any changes to medication/condition. My dad visited daily and they always made him feel welcome too.

All staff (management, cleaners, carers, nurses, maintenance team), were approachable, polite and positive. Very pleased mum spent her final weeks here.

Overall Experience

Dad moved into Tudor Lodge mid - Feb 2024 and passed away recently, Jan 2026 at Tudor Lodge. I had no experience of nursing homes prior to Feb 2024, but subsequently spent a lot of time in Tudor Lodge over the last 2 years. Dad received outstanding care throughout the 2 years. Dad was treated with respect, dignity and compassion and the staff at Tudor Lodge became his, and our 'extended family'. The nursing home has strong connections to the Armed Forces and works hard to maintain these vital connections. This aspect of the nursing home was very important to us as a family; it enabled Dad to still have experiences that were integral to who he was, following his successful career as an Officer in the Royal Navy. All the staff were so welcoming and would always take time to stop and chat, not in a superficial way but in a way that showed they had got to know my Dad as a person and not just as a resident. For that I will always be grateful.

Tudor Lodge is a very caring home - the staff are extremely helpful. My sister-in-law has many needs including a diet which she likes but limits her choices (they are very helpful & accommodating with this to enable her to have a healthy diet). The staff ask monthly if we are happy with her care. I would recommend this home, its set in a lovely woodland setting too.

Our Dad was admitted to Tudor Lodge for End of Life care following a terminal cancer diagnosis. Myself, my Husband and my Sister, couldn't be more grateful to all the wonderful team there for the amazing care that they gave our Dad for the last 4 weeks of his life. At one point he told me "it's like having the best type of holiday, being waited on hand and foot", which given his circumstances was just wonderful to hear. Without exception we just can't fault the team who were all so very caring and nothing was too much trouble - if Dad wanted at ice lolly at 9.00 am instead of breakfast, that is what he got! The Care staff took care of all his daily needs always with a smile and joke, including spoon feeding him his favourite foods (lemon sorbet!) and the Nursing staff were very attentive in trying to minimise his pain. The Management team were just the best in ensuring that we were also supported. We would highly recommend this home and can't begin to thank them enough.

I always found the staff very caring and conscientious. The ambience is friendly and cosy. They are always ready to listen not only for my Mum but for me as well. There are plenty of activities for everyone and bingo was a particular favourite of Mum's. If I was to be critical of any thing it would be that I'd love to see the gardens looking more colourful and interesting. The potential is there for even more as it is in a lovely country setting. A plus is that there is always places to park in the car park.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. We have recently employed a new team of gardeners, and they are already working through the winter with a new planting schedule. By spring, the garden areas should be much more colourful and enjoyable for everyone.

Mum moved into Tudor Lodge in March 2025 and despite her dementia and health issues she is flourishing there. The food is yummy and home cooked every day, the care and nursing staff are kind, cheerful and respectful. Mum's condition, communication and general demeanor have all improved significantly in her time so far at Tudor Lodge. The management team have all worked hard to ensure that moving Mum in and getting her settled into the right room for her has gone as smoothly as possible. I can't recommend them enough!!

We moved my Aunt-in-law to Tudor lodge following a terminal diagnosis. She settled in for the last few week of her life for palliative care and we were so grateful for the care, consideration, and attention shown by all the staff to help her in her last few days.

The team allowed her to pass with dignity and were able to keep her comfortable and communicated with us very well through the entire process. They were supportive of both the resident and her relatives needs and I would have no hesitation in recommending them to others in a similar situation.

We cannot comment on the activities or the food quality as the resident was bedbound and was not in a position to use or enjoy these facilities so I have not rated them or have rated it in the middle for the purposes of this review.

During my mothers 3 year stay at Tudor Lodge Nursing Home she received first class domestic, personal and medical care. The senior management team provide superb leadership across all of the departments, proven by the high morale across department collaborations, high professional standards and excellent communications. Individually the staff were always cheerful, positive and viewed the residents as their first priority. During her final weeks my mother received faultless compassionate care in comfort and safety.

Selecting a home for Mum was hard and emotional but the minute I stepped into Tudor Lodge I knew this was the place. Everyone I passed on the tour had a smile on their face and said hello and the home itself was bright, clean and smelt fresh. Mum's care was second to none, all of the staff were excellent from the carers who even took time to put on Mum's makeup, to the nurses who watched over her vigilantly, the fabulous selection of food, the cleaners keeping the place spotless, the manager/reception who did all they could to assist. Thank you for all you did for my mum.

My mom was in a care home but needed to be moved to a nursing home. I was a little concerned but Tudor Lodge is excellent. Staff are all lovely. Activities of some sort every afternoon. My mum is partial to a glass of wine which she does get most days. Visiting is flexible. My mum does get lonely but that is to be expected. I have no complaints or concerns.

My relative became a resident at Tudor Lodge on discharge from hospital. She had previously been in a facility which didn't offer nursing care. The staff at Tudor Lodge looked after her with extreme care and concern involving other health agencies as required. As her condition deteriorated towards the end of life care, I was impressed with the way staff dealt with the physical and mental effects. They are always friendly, and happy to help in addition to providing varied activities to entertain residents.

Generally, the home has provided a lovely environment for my mum, who is still very aware and most days very mentally competent. My experience of seeing (staff) interactions with Mum is reassuring. Most are attentive and genuinely appear to love Mum, some demonstrate this by physical touch/hugs. There are some low-level concerns about the quality of some meals and that they often arrive cold (if a hot meal). The monthly fees are very high, which has intrigued me, especially as there's an additional weekly fee for 'nursing care' but after researching 'home' options, this was the only home that was acceptable as a replacement for Mum's own home/life.
