Conewood Manor Nursing and residential care home has been under new ownership and management for the last five years and has gained a high reputation in East Hertfordshire and beyond for outstanding care.

Nearly all bedrooms have en-suite wet rooms and there is a purpose-built extension with garden rooms.

The original part of the home is grade 2 listed and provides a comfortable, homely atmosphere.

Conewood Manor ensures that residents have all home comforts and receive outstanding care from the highly-skilled nursing, caring and professional staff.

The home prides itself on its professional and comprehensive service. There is a full range of activities to enhance the resident's well being, led by the activity team, who devise activities to meet the resident’s abilities and interests. These can include musical entertainment, yoga and personal grooming services.

There are over 50 members of permanent staff at Conewood Manor and agencies are not used. At least one fully qualified nurse is on duty at all times. There is an above-average carers to residents, as well as one or two activity staff supporting residents every day.

Wellbeing is very important in the home and therefore, ensure freshly cooked wholesome food is served every day.

Our mother was taken in as a discharge to assess (D2A) at Conewood Manor Nursing Home. Within 24 hours she was smiling, talking and laughing. Within 48 hours she is showing signs of more movement in her arms and hands.
The staff are friendly and check in regularly, it is like a family and we are so
pleased they kindly agreed to take in our Mum after such a bumpy ride in hospital. Thank you Conewood Manor.

My mum has now resided at the home for 6 years and during that time she has received caring and also sympathetic treatment and has built a bond with a number of staff there and with some staff I have observed visiting her before they finish for the week to see how she is. During my weekly visits, the
staff have been very courteous to me and always offer me a drink when afternoon tea is served up.

I have always felt, on leaving after visits, that my cousin is being well cared for and is content in a pleasant care home.
The staff are always friendly and treat the residents with respect and dignity while trying to keep them stimulated with activities to help with their well being.

During my mother's stay at Conewood Manor Nursing Home, she has been cared for as an individual with respect and kindness by the staff. When she first arrived the manager and the staff made time to understand her condition and her preferences for treatment. The atmosphere in Conewood is warm and very
friendly, as well as being extremely efficient. Rooms are clean and comfortable, patients are kept warm and clean while the food is prepared to meet the needs of the individual. This is nursing at its best because they treat the person - helping them physically with the necessary treatment - while getting to know them and giving them comfort and tender care. My mother was at the end of her life yet the staff made time to discuss her treatment right up to the end and offered to make contact at any time if her condition changed. When she died they offered us comfort at a very difficult time.

The realisation of having to place a parent into care for end of life is something you are not prepared for or advised how to proceed. Availability and locality hit you before the important things like quality of care for your loved one.
We have been so fortunate with Conewood Manor Nursing Home,
Bishops Stortford, we found all three in abundance. The most important has to be quality of care. At Conewood Manor, our experience has been excellent, the team showed tireless care and consideration for our father. No task, however difficult, was ever a chore. Caring for elderly/sick people is not a skill you learn, it's a quality, an attribute, a gift within yourself. The team at Conewood showed huge quantities of all. Our father has sadly passed away but we know that throughout his final months the care and comfort provided by Conewood Manor were as good and comfortable as we could have hoped. To name individuals seems unfair as the team were so good.

My mum has been at Conewood Manor Nursing Home for two years, she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's almost ten years ago, she is wheelchair-bound and is totally reliant on her carers, all the staff at Conewood have been marvellous, they treat Mum with love and kindness, even though she can not communicate
they talk to her and reassure her. We as a family can't thank all the staff for their support and kindness enough, we are kept informed of everything going on and always feel we can talk to them if we are worried or upset.

I cannot speak highly enough of the staff and facilities at Conewood Manor Nursing Home. They are second to none as far as I am concerned. My husband was treated with the utmost care and dignity. The staff who looked after my husband were exceptional. They could not do enough for him or for me. They
reassured and comforted me during a very difficult time and I will always be grateful for the care they gave him at the end of his life. I would give Conewood a five-star recommendation.

My dad came into the care home in the middle of the pandemic 2020. I know if it wasn't for the Conewood Manor Nursing Home my dad would not be here now. The staff are amazing and have had to put up with such extreme conditions with the Covid. My dad is 92 this year and we didn't think he would make

I cannot thank the wonderful staff at Conewood Manor Nursing Home highly enough for all of the professional care, patience and kindness that they have shown to my wife over the past two years. Nothing is too much trouble for them to ensure the comfort and wellbeing of all residents under their care.
An outstanding and cheerful team of cleaners keep the home spotlessly clean. The food is always well served, delicious and caters for the varying dietary needs of everyone. The care staff not only scrupulously look after the needs of the residents they care for, they also know their individual needs, respond to their concerns and befriend them in a joyful manner. There are an exciting variety of activities including entertainment from singers, exercise training, card making and origami, quizzes and crosswords and a focus on the seasons, winter, Christmas, spring, Easter as well as national days such as Remembrance Sunday.
All of this happens under the watchful eye of our skilled team of nurses/managers.

The home is well managed, clean along with exceptional staff that really demonstrate that they care for the residents under their care. They are very helpful if you have a problem and will resolve. My wife moved into Conewood Manor as she needed full time care, due to having early on-set dementia. During the 2 years and 3 months that she was there, we never experienced anything other than utter professionalism and the level of care was excellent. All the staff were genuine and they were not just
'doing a job'. They treated my wife with dignity and genuine care. Before the pandemic, we went to see my wife every day, sometimes 2 or 3 times. We were never made to feel less than welcome, even when taking two small children with us. Although, I think that the other residents enjoyed them coming and watching them playing and helping themselves to the biscuits. Conewood Manor has an excellent activities team that provide all sorts of stimulating activities and always ensured that my wife was involved with one-to-one support. At the end, we felt supported and were surprised when the staff had finished their shift and had got changed to go home. They took the time to come and say goodbye.

Good staff attendance and care with my mother. I had raised an issue earlier about how she looked, but all said it was the deterioration of her dementia which was responsible. Another issue was with obtaining information regarding what type of medication she was on, this could have been disclosed better.

We chose Conewood Manor for my father who was suffering from advancing PSP - a rare degenerative condition. We knew that we needed to find somewhere with nursing capacity as we were determined that he would not have to relocate as his condition worsened, and could have end of life care without having
to go into hospital. Conewood was the only home we visited that were not only aware of this disease but already were looking after another resident with PSP. My father enjoyed being at Conewood from the moment he arrived - it was so reassuring for him to have specialist care as he had fallen so many times at home, and so felt so much safer in his new environment. After having felt isolated by his lack of mobility at home, he really enjoyed his new social life at the home, and always loved having chats with carers, nurses and other members of staff. The care and affection my father received from all staff was second to none and reassured us completely during his inevitable decline.

I went to view Conewood Manor in April 2019 for my mother-in-law with trepidation, having been through a similar experience in another area for my own mum. I knew straight away I didn't need to look any further!
The welcome was lovely, the building light and airy and above all there was laughter and
conversation.
I felt instantly that my mother-in-law would be in safe and happy hands here and I was right.
Conewood looked after her well for 13 months, much longer than anyone expected. And as a family we were always welcomed and looked after.

My mum came to Conewood Manor in October 2019 and she was extremely poorly. With Conewood's nurturing care she survived for an additional 9 months. The staff go above and beyond for the residents (and for their family) and I can honestly say that it was their care and support that helped mum continue
with her Alzheimers journey for so much longer than expected. Every single member of staff cares and this is evident. Mum was always clean, well-fed and looked after and I cannot fault Conewood Manor. Mum sadly passed away on 30th June but whilst I was with her at the end the staff would continually ask me if I was ok or if I needed anything (even though they had all of the relatives to care for). I felt that they genuinely cared for my mum. The final act of kindness was when they all stood outside the home as mum took her last journey past them. I would recommend Conewood without a doubt to anybody looking for care for someone they love.

My father spent the last 4 years of his life in Conewood Manor. It was an extremely hard decision to put Dad into a nursing home but all the staff were wonderful and caring and could not do enough for him. Dad was always well presented and although he was unable to communicate he always enjoyed being
part of the extensive activities offered. As a family, we can not thank everyone who looked after Dad so well enough. They are a very good team and we will always be grateful for the care and respect bestowed on him.

Attila Gyarmati

Attila has been a manager at Conewood Manor since March 2014. Before that, he was deputy manager at other homes and has a nursing background. He became a UK registered nurse in 2010 and also a qualified social worker since 2012.


Attila's passion is to ensure all residents receive excellent care, whether they are with us for a short stay or are reaching the end of life.

Roza

Roza Gyarmati

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Roza is the Deputy Manager at Conewood Manor since 2014 and is a registered nurse in the UK since 2009. She is a qualified nurse in Hungary since 2006. She provides hands-on care to patients by administering medications, observing and monitoring patients' conditions, maintaining records and communicating with a multi-disciplinary team, for example: doctors, social services, dieticians.


She leads the patient's care with the other nurses and carers in our home. She provides advice and emotional support to patients and their family members.


Roza helps create a nurturing and empathetic home with her excellent interpersonal skills. Roza helps to instil first class care for all of our residents.
