My mother has lived at Lavenders now for nearly 2 years. She is very happy at Lavenders and she now refers to Lavenders as her home. I have always found the staff to be very kind, professional and attentive to my mothers needs. My mothers overall experience has been excellent from start to date.
We
have never had any significant issues and all requests however small have been actioned promptly. Lavenders is definitely a home from home experience. A big thank you to all the staff.

My mum has been a resident at Bradbury House for just over two years.
The standard of care she receives is very good as is communication from the staff .
Mum took a few months to settle in and now considers Bradbury House her home.
We know that any worries or concerns are immediately addressed.
I
really like the layout of the home and it always has a good atmosphere with plenty of activities going on.
Having looked around at ten plus nursing homes I can honestly say that BH is the best that I've seen.

From the day Colin came into your care until he died, he was treated with dignity and kindness. He wasn't a very social person, but the staff managed to persuade him to join some of the events.
When visiting, the family received a warm welcome and loads of sympathy at the end.
Thank you so much
for your care towards the whole family.

'My mother moved into Hartley House Care Home as a resident at the end of September 2025. When I went to look around the home prior to Mum moving in I found the staff very welcoming and the home was clean and tidy. After a few weeks I did encounter some issues at the home, this was nothing to do abuse
or neglect of the patients as the staff are very caring and treat the patients with kindness and respect but was more administrative oversights. The manager at the home was very new to post, I since found out, and the home had not had a permanent manager for a while so it had 'lost it's way'. Once my concerns were highlighted I was involved in meetings and a plan moving forward was put into place. Overall I am now happy and things are very positive I get regular updates from the home so kept informed of what is going on with Mum and the home has a very active social messaging group regarding activities and events that are being put on. Mum seems to have settled well and appears
Reply from Eleanor Healthcare Group, Hartley House Team at Hartley House Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share your experience, we truly appreciat it. Your feedback has made a real difference, and we're so pleased to hear she's doing well.

My brother urgently needed respite care at very short notice and Lavenders immediately offered him a very pleasant room. He was unsure but quickly appreciated all that Lavenders offer. As we hoped, he accepted he could no longer live at his home and, as he had a very short life expectancy, chose to
spend his remaining time there. I cannot praise the home enough for its care and the homely feeling it emanates. All staff gave excellent care and kindness.
I would recommend Lavenders wholeheartedly to anyone looking for a care home.

I am so thankful to Stacy and all the staff at Bluebell Nursing Home who cared for and looked after my Mum in the last few months of her life. Mum was treated with the upmost respect, dignity and kindness. The medical team and carers were fantastic, making sure that not only was Mum kept comfortable
but that my Dad and I were kept informed. Placing a parent in a nursing home is by no means easy, and I worried, a lot. However, I had no need to worry at all. Mum's room was lovely and homely. Dad could spend as long as he wanted with Mum. Just before Mum died, my Mum and Dad celebrated their 65th Wedding anniversary. Bluebell made sure it was celebrated in style. It was a joy to see Mum and Dad celebrate their big day together. When Mum died on the 24th September, Bluebell provided Dad and I with the most wonderful support. Thank you to everyone at Bluebell who cared for my lovely Mum. It is my greatest comfort to know how lovingly you cared for my Mum in the last few months of her life.
Reply from Eleanor Healthcare Group, Bluebell Team at Bluebell Nursing HomeThank you so much for sharing something so deeply personal and heartfelt. We know how difficult it can be to make the decision to entrust a loved one's care to others, and we're truly grateful that you felt comforted and supported during such an emotional time. It's incredibly touching to hear that those final months were filled with compassion, dignity, and moments of joy, especially the beautiful anniversary celebration. Bradbury House is clean and run by friendly staff. The downsides are waiting for staff to attend when buzzed. An hour or more is not uncommon especially in the early morning hours. My wife is bedbound and unable to help herself and, despite promises, no one has yet sat her in the comfy chair in her
room. Several times I have been "trapped" in the foyer in trying to exit the building because the reception was unstaffed. Even trying to go from upstairs to downstairs or vice versa is difficult when needing passing staff to assist. Overall not a bad place but the edges need a polish.
Reply from Jane Holden, Home Admission Manager at Bradbury House Nursing HomeDear Keith,

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback and for your kind comments about our staff and cleanliness.

We are genuinely sorry to hear about the concerns you have raised regarding staff attending when called, moving to a more comfortable chair and exiting the building. This is not the level of experience we aim to deliver, and we take your feedback seriously. Our team is already reviewing the points mentioned to ensure communication and support remain consistent for all residents and families.

We greatly value your input as it helps us continue improving the quality of care we provide. If you would like to discuss this further, please do not hesitate to get in touch with our Registered Manager directly.

Appleton Lodge Nursing Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My father has been a resident of Appleton Lodge for just over 18 months. He's 93 years old and aside from immobility issues, remains mentally very sharp. Something I always say is that no-one, sorry few, people want to leave their own home to live in a care home, and this is the same for Dad. However,
he has settled in well at Appleton Lodge and this is primarily because it has a much more family-style, but wholly professional, feel to its environment. Looking for a Home for him, opened our eyes to the broad spectrum of care and environments across this industry. In Appleton Lodge, we as Dad's family, feel we could not have found better. I personally visit several times a week, and am welcomed with courtesy and professionalism. Dad repeatedly tells me that the care receives is 'Excellent'. He really is looked after 24:7 and both day and night he is looked after with care, courtesy and sensitivity. This sums up the staff and care at Appleton Lodge.
Reply from Appleton Lodge Team, Eleanor Healthcare Group, Appleton Lodge Team at Appleton Lodge Nursing HomeThank you so much for sharing such thoughtful feedback about your father's experience at Appleton Lodge. We truly appreciate your kind words and are delighted to hear that he has settled in well and feels so comfortable with our team.
Our staff take great pride in providing care that is both professional and compassionate, and it means a lot to know that this has been reflected in your father's day-to-day experience. It's wonderful to hear that you and your family feel confident and reassured by the care and environment we provide.
Thank you once again for your trust and for being such an engaged part of our Appleton Lodge community.

My husband is in respite care for 20 weeks. The only reason for only giving "good" for Care/Support is that I was promised a Care Plan but to date, have not received it. I would then be able to check if what I had asked of the staff was on the Plan. My husband needs walking exercise morning and afternoon,
just 10-15 mins (which if done regularly, would not take so long) So far he has been in the Home since 20th August and still cannot walk at all well still using his frame, whereas he was walking reasonably well when he entered the Home. Only lately, after much persuading, has he begun to have this walking exercise.
I had an upsetting experience when a carer refused to take my husband to the toilet because he had asked during the dining time. She told me that carers were not allowed to take residents to the toilet during this time. He waited over 2 hours before a carer finally came, missing his lunch because he needed the toilet badlty. I had to report this incident.

My Dad has been with you just over 5wks . Have been happy with how he has been looked after .Lovely room ,cosy and comfortable. Most of the staff are friendly and welcoming when I visit .Dad appears to be well cared for .Always clean clothes .He seems to enjoy the food and from what I have seen the
food looks good quality .There has been one occasion when I was a bit concerned as there wasn't a carer to be seen in the dining room and several residents wanted to be taken to the bathroom .As soon as a carer appeared it was dealt with but just felt their should be always be somebody around .All in all happy with Bradbury House. Preston Hall .

My father is 99 and had to move from his earlier care home since his dementure was gradually worsening. Their approach has been kind, understanding and totally professional from the initial enquiry to admission He has been a resident for over 5 weeks now and has settled in quite well. His dementure
does not seem as advanced as most other residents which Dad has noticed, However he does understand why he needs to be there. He says himself that he is well looked after. He has enjoyed the entertainment when it has been provided - in particular the singer and the harpist. If anything he would like more entertainment! Organising his move was very stressful but we are more relaxed now that he seems to have settled in reasonably well.

Since arriving at Bradbury House the improvement in my mother's mental and physical well being has been amazing. The nursing she receives, the caring staff, the interactions and activities each week have all contributed to this.
When I visit I can spend quality time with her knowing that she is safe
and well looked after. You cannot put a price on that.

During my wife's three and a half months at the home, she has been treated with dignity and compassion. The food is way above average restaurant and wonderfully presented on the plate. We cannot praise the home enough. The home manager leads by example; she has time for everyone. Thank you.
