Bradbury House Nursing Home

from J S (Wife of Resident) published on 3 November 2025

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
My husband is in respite care for 20 weeks. The only reason for only giving "good" for Care/Support is that I was promised a Care Plan but to date, have not received it. I would then be able to check if what I had asked of the staff was on the Plan. My husband needs walking exercise morning and afternoon,
just 10-15 mins (which if done regularly, would not take so long) So far he has been in the Home since 20th August and still cannot walk at all well still using his frame, whereas he was walking reasonably well when he entered the Home. Only lately, after much persuading, has he begun to have this walking exercise.
I had an upsetting experience when a carer refused to take my husband to the toilet because he had asked during the dining time. She told me that carers were not allowed to take residents to the toilet during this time. He waited over 2 hours before a carer finally came, missing his lunch because he needed the toilet badlty. I had to report this incident.

My Dad has been with you just over 5wks . Have been happy with how he has been looked after .Lovely room ,cosy and comfortable. Most of the staff are friendly and welcoming when I visit .Dad appears to be well cared for .Always clean clothes .He seems to enjoy the food and from what I have seen the
food looks good quality .There has been one occasion when I was a bit concerned as there wasn't a carer to be seen in the dining room and several residents wanted to be taken to the bathroom .As soon as a carer appeared it was dealt with but just felt their should be always be somebody around .All in all happy with Bradbury House. My father is 99 and had to move from his earlier care home since his dementure was gradually worsening. Their approach has been kind, understanding and totally professional from the initial enquiry to admission He has been a resident for over 5 weeks now and has settled in quite well. His dementure
does not seem as advanced as most other residents which Dad has noticed, However he does understand why he needs to be there. He says himself that he is well looked after. He has enjoyed the entertainment when it has been provided - in particular the singer and the harpist. If anything he would like more entertainment! Organising his move was very stressful but we are more relaxed now that he seems to have settled in reasonably well.

My late mother's dear friend has been a resident at Roselands since May 2025. Having spent a few weeks in another care facility, she was barely getting out of bed. On arrival at Roselands, she was 'walked' to the toilet (absolutely amazing as she had spent so long in bed previously), and was then taken
to the dining room for lunch. Such a difference. Since then, she gets up and dressed and spends the best part of the day in the day room with the other residents. The food is very good indeed and I am also furnished with sandwiches and tea if I arrive during tea time. The staff are friendly, genuinely caring, and tend to her every need. Wonderful. Thank you Roselands.

My father-in-law is very happy with the home and has completely forgotten his own home, even though we had so much trouble getting him to leave because of his ill health and falls. He likes the staff, cleanliness, activities, food and being so well looked after.
Any medical problems are dealt with

I recently spent two weeks in Halden Heights for respite care after an operation. The medical staff and carers were all very good. The lady who cleaned my room most days was very thorough and friendly. My main concern is about the food and its presentation. Very often, the food and drinks were lukewarm.
The crockery was haphazard. Sandwiches were served on saucers or pudding bowls - never on a plate. Drinks could be in anything from a mug, a cup or a china cup. Sometimes on a saucer and once on a plate. I think extra training is needed in that department. However, overall the experience was good.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
From the moment we contacted the manager of Halden Heights, we felt that we were dealing with a caring and professional care home. Our father's needs were complex and all of staff worked very hard to keep him safe, comfortable and as happy as possible. They are full of positive energy, diligent and
will go the 'extra mile'. The expansive garden was a real benefit, given that our father loved being outdoors. We have no hesitation in recommending Halden Heights based on our experience. They have our respect & gratitude!
