My niece arrived at Appleton Lodge for rehabilitation. I have found the staff and management very helpful and cheerful. Absolutely amazing home with lovely caring staff who go above and beyond. Food was amazing . The home is spotlessly clean and feels very family orientated. The staff are always smiling and caring. My dad was only there for 3 months before passing but my family take great comfort in knowing it was the
best 3 months he had in there. I really cannot praise this place enough nurses the carers the cleaners and the chef.

We couldn't be happier with dad's placement at Hartley House. The staff are always friendly and because of the layout it is always easy to find someone if you need someone. The internal courtyard means that even with dementia, dad is able to open a door and go outside. Huge thanks to two specific
members of staff and the team for their care of dad.

My visits to Pine Lodge have been pretty good, if I've had any issues I've gone to staff and its been dealt with. Staff have always been polite and all like being in mums company, she makes them laugh. Mum has settled into her new room which I asked for and she been happy.

My mum been in Pine Lodge just over a year. In this time there have been a few changes, staffing the main problem. All though times they seemed to be stretched, they managed to get by. Hopefully they seem to be getting over this period.
As care homes go, its very bright, roomy and comforting.
Staff
all polite and interact with residents.

This is my first experience of a care home. Excellence is the word I use and mean in connection with this home.
I am impressed with the width of care which includes stimulation of residents in very pleasant ways from music to playing games. Therapeutic care is beneficial all round it seems.
The
level of friendliness, love ad care of the staff, impresses and is reflected in the peace and happiness of those in care.
I cannot fault anything other than difficult passing at busy times.

My Mum had a week's respite this week, and I can't praise the staff enough for making my mum's stay so positive!
Mum was engaged with all daily activities, which helped keep her mentally/physically active.
She was a little anxious initially about the thought of staying, but was made to feel so welcome
and at home by everyone, that by the end of the week, she didn't want to say goodbye to them all!!

Halden Heights Nursing Home

from Susan A (Partner of Resident) published on 6 June 2025

As a retired community physiotherapist I have been in many care homes and have never been in one where there was such a happy atmosphere. The whole team, manager, reception staff, care workers, nursing staff, housekeeping and catering work together to provide excellent, efficient, empathetic care. Halden
Heights is very well equipped to optimise the comfort of residents. The rooms are spacious with ensuit wet rooms and interesting views; everything is spotlessly clean. The grounds are lovely and accessible and there is play area for visiting children. All the staff are sensitive to residents' needs which are met in a timely manner with kindness and good humour. The food is tasty and well presented and an effort is made to mark special occasions with special food. There is regular entertainment and frequent parties with musicians and party food to which famies are invited. My partner's family and I were extremely grateful to everyone at Halden Heights for the care he received.

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts so warmly. It means a great deal to hear how much the atmosphere, the care, and the team's approach have stood out to you. In general I am very pleased with the care my husband is receiving; all staff seem extremely caring and considerate of his needs. However, my husband had a cancerous skin legion removed and was due to have the dressing removed and cleaned by the Thursday, but on Friday afternoon it still had not been
done until I mentioned it. There doesn't appear to be enough staff on hand to ensure appropriate care and safeguarding at all times. I also took 15 pairs of socks in which have all gone missing, although I have asked about them on several occasions, he is still without any socks weeks later.

Bradbury House Nursing Home

from Kim B (Daughter of Resident) published on 14 May 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 2.0 out of 5

After an initial good start in the home, they were not so good at being able to assist when my father developed advanced dementia, considering they advertise as a dementia care/nursing home. Sadly my father was asked to leave due to his behaviour, had the upheaval of having to be moved. He did however,
enjoy go on to enjoy his last few months at another nursing home where the staff were amazing. They were also late sending invoices with some not being received until he left in November for care received in August & September despite my request for them.

Reply from Jane Holden, Home Admission Manager at Bradbury House Nursing Home

Dear Kim,
Thank you for your review. We were equally disappointed that your father had to move on from the home. As we discussed at the time, we were advised by the hospital team, that your father would be far safer and better suited to live in different setting due to his needs. We therefore have a duty of care, to follow this guidance for compliance and regulation purposes. I can only apologise for the delay in issuing the invoices, at the time we were in a transition period, changing from RBLI to Eleanor Care. Thank you.
