From the day Colin came into your care until he died, he was treated with dignity and kindness. He wasn't a very social person, but the staff managed to persuade him to join some of the events.
When visiting, the family received a warm welcome and loads of sympathy at the end.
Thank you so much
for your care towards the whole family.

During my wife's three and a half months at the home, she has been treated with dignity and compassion. The food is way above average restaurant and wonderfully presented on the plate. We cannot praise the home enough. The home manager leads by example; she has time for everyone. Thank you.
Reply from Eleanor Healthcare Group, Halden Heights Team at Halden Heights Nursing HomeThank you so much for your heartfelt words. It means a great deal to hear that your wife has been treated with such kindness and respect. That's exactly what everyone deserves. We're also really glad that the little things, like how meals are prepared and the way the home is led, have made a lasting impression. Your appreciation truly means a lot to all involved.

I stayed for 2 weeks to recuperate after hip surgery, as I live on my own. Everything worked really well, and I was able to spend the two weeks as I wished with all the support I needed from the staff.
I would recommend this to anyone in my situation who needed that form of support after surgery.
Reply from Eleanor Healthcare Group, Halden Heights Team at Halden Heights Nursing HomeThank you so much for sharing your experience. It's wonderful to hear that you felt supported and had the space to recover in your own way - that balance is so important. We're really glad we could be there for you during that time. Your recommendation means a great deal, and we wish you continued strength in your recovery.

I arrived at Halden Heights having had a complete left hip replacement and was unable to walk. After excellent care, I have enjoyed walking in the garden (with crutches) and leave HH able to walk (almost without crutches). All the staff from top to bottom have cared for me and met all my needs with
a friendly, happy smile. I could not have been looked after better.
Reply from Eleanor Healthcare Group, Halden Heights Team at Halden Heights Nursing HomeThank you so much for your lovely message. It's been a joy to see you grow stronger each day, and to know that you felt genuinely cared for means everything. Your determination and positive spirit were a big part of that journey, and we're so glad we could be there to support you through it. Wishing you continued strength and steady steps ahead. You've done brilliantly.

I recently spent two weeks in Halden Heights for respite care after an operation. The medical staff and carers were all very good. The lady who cleaned my room most days was very thorough and friendly. My main concern is about the food and its presentation. Very often, the food and drinks were lukewarm.
The crockery was haphazard. Sandwiches were served on saucers or pudding bowls - never on a plate. Drinks could be in anything from a mug, a cup or a china cup. Sometimes on a saucer and once on a plate. I think extra training is needed in that department. However, overall the experience was good.
Reply from Eleanor Healthcare Group, Halden Heights Team at Halden Heights Nursing HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback. We really appreciate your honesty and your kind words. We're so pleased to hear that you felt well cared for by the medical team and carers during your respite stay, and that our housekeeping staff helped make your time with us more comfortable. We're also very grateful that you raised concerns about the food service and presentation. It's clear that consistency was lacking, and we take that seriously. Your comments have been noted and will be shared with the relevant team to ensure improvements are made, especially around presentation and temperature control. Thank you again for your balanced and thoughtful feedback. We're glad your overall experience was positive, and we wish you continued recovery and good health.

From the moment we contacted the manager of Halden Heights, we felt that we were dealing with a caring and professional care home. Our father's needs were complex and all of staff worked very hard to keep him safe, comfortable and as happy as possible. They are full of positive energy, diligent and
will go the 'extra mile'. The expansive garden was a real benefit, given that our father loved being outdoors. We have no hesitation in recommending Halden Heights based on our experience. They have our respect & gratitude!

As a retired community physiotherapist I have been in many care homes and have never been in one where there was such a happy atmosphere. The whole team, manager, reception staff, care workers, nursing staff, housekeeping and catering work together to provide excellent, efficient, empathetic care. Halden
Heights is very well equipped to optimise the comfort of residents. The rooms are spacious with ensuit wet rooms and interesting views; everything is spotlessly clean. The grounds are lovely and accessible and there is play area for visiting children. All the staff are sensitive to residents' needs which are met in a timely manner with kindness and good humour. The food is tasty and well presented and an effort is made to mark special occasions with special food. There is regular entertainment and frequent parties with musicians and party food to which famies are invited. My partner's family and I were extremely grateful to everyone at Halden Heights for the care he received.
Reply from Eleanor Healthcare Group, Halden Heights Team at Halden Heights Nursing HomeThank you so much for sharing your thoughts so warmly. It means a great deal to hear how much the atmosphere, the care, and the team's approach have stood out to you. I have found Halden Heights Care Home to offer exceptional care. All surface areas are cleansed on a daily basis and floors swept and hoovered. This is the reason the home always smells fresh and inviting. Nurses and carers remain in the lounge areas with the residents and help is on offer immediately
when it is needed. Nurses regularly check any resident who is diabetic, toileting needs are dealt with immediately, there is no waiting and assistance is always on hand in these areas. I have found all staff to be pleasant & happy and they all offer 1st rate care. There is a first class choice of meals and I feel relaxed that my husband is here.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.856)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.856) out of 10 for Halden Heights Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 58 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 58 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.856 for Halden Heights Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (588 Excellents x 5) + (73 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 673 Ratings = 4.856
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Halden Heights Nursing Home is based on 58 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 101 registered maximum number of service users is 20.2, which has been reached with 58 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
