Reviews

8.6 St George's Nursing Home has a Review Score of 8.6 (8.601)

The Review Score of 8.6 (maximum of 10) for St George's Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 7 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for St George's Nursing Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.476 for St George's Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (47 Excellents x 5) + (30 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.476

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.125 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St George's Nursing Home is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 3.5

    2. Target of 4.8 positive Reviews (24 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 3 Reviews ÷ 4.8 Target = 0.625

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My mum has been in the home since last October and has settled extremely well. The staff are so kind and genuinely care for her. It's a great relief to know that she is safe and well looked after. We are welcome to visit at anytime and the staff are always happy to talk to us if we need to. It really is more of a 'home' than a nursing home which we think is why mum is relaxed and not stressed about her surroundings.

My mother has now been at St George's in Royston for 10 months and during that time she has been treated with exemplary care and the utmost respect. Although putting her into a home has been really difficult I have received great support from all the staff. In fact, the main attribute to St George's is the staff who are now like part of our family and I know that they really care for her.

St George's has provided my mother with exemplary care over the five years she has been a resident. The staff show utmost kindness, consideration, respect and humour to all. If she is asleep at mealtimes and requires food on waking it is provided. My mother is very content and feels safe and loved.

At the age of 93 and suffering dementia it was a terrific strain on the whole family to keep dad at home but because of our love for him we did not want him to go into a home, but we soon realised we need not have worried. The staff were brilliant and made his last days as happy and comfortable as possible. I cannot praise them enough.

The care and love shown to my late husband is second to none. Although he was only with them for two weeks, they also supported me, which I found very comforting.

My mother spent the last few months of her life at St Georges. She could be quite difficult but staff always managed to care for her with kindness, dignity and good humour. St Georges is very homely and the staff team clearly enjoy their work. In her final weeks my mother was cared for in accordance with her wishes without unnecessary interventions and with a care plan I was involved in drawing up. Thank you St Georges.

I found all staff at the care home caring, supportive and informative. They treat all residents as people with dignity and respect. I wouldn't wish for better care for my loved ones at the end of their life.
