My girlfriend always seems happy and she is well looked after by the staff at the care home. I like my visits to see her and there is a good range of activities. The one downside to Ashcroft House is a shortage of toilet facilities.

My step mum on the death of my father on the 6th August 2018 was allocated Ashcroft Residential Home for respite for three weeks. On visiting her during this period I found the staff to be very pleasant and helpful. My step mum as a result of the care being provided indicated that she now wished to remain at the home as she feels that she is being well looked after at the home

I have been impressed with the care home. The environment is clean, a lot of memorabilia around, it is colourful, little touches which make you stop, look and chat.
The care staff are helpful, they give you confidence, they know about your relative. Telling you about their individual quirks, likes and dislikes.
The client's food is prepared to meet the individual client's needs, a carer to help with feeding.

The home is well led, the management are always around with a kind word and smile.

My wife and I visited several residential homes suitable for dementia care for my mother. From the start we found the staff to be very helpful, professional, kind and caring. The attention my mother got from day one was first class right up until the end. The premises, an old hospital, was in need of some refurbishment which in the main has been completed. I am very pleased we chose Ashcroft for the last few months of my mother's life.

Dad seems very happy at Ashcroft. He is clean, happy and well fed. After an initial decline in his health, he has now stabilised and improved. The activities are varied and frequent and dad looks forward to receiving the monthly list - if he doesn't participate he is happy to watch.

Occasionally communication could be better between staff and family members, as sometimes we have not been informed on health issues/meetings.

The carers at the home deserve the name carer as they looked after our mum with love and kindness and truly cared for our mum. They dressed her with thoughtfulness and put her costume jewellery on every day.

My father was treated with love and kindness. Our family were treated as members of a large family. We were always kept informed of any health issues and when anyone rang with enquiries the staff went out of there way to help. The activities brought him out of himself and made him smile and we were very impressed with all the activities that were on hand for seven days a week. Would be happy for any other members of our family to reside there.

My mother was a resident of Ashcroft House for 20 months until she passed away just before Christmas 2017. It's only now I feel able to express in writing my gratitude for the care they gave and what a joyous environment this nursing home is, both for staff and residents alike. My 90-year-old mother had never been away from the family home until her illness necessitated full-time care and we were filled with trepidation at placing her among strangers. We needn't have been. The entire workforce are among the most kindly yet professional people I have ever come across. I don't know if they are employed on a basis of empathy - most of the staff, if you talk to them and discover their backstory, appear to have a close relative also in difficult circumstances - but its a strategy that certainly works. In a world of so many sad news reports about incidents in residential homes, it was a huge relief and comfort that our beloved, bedridden mum was being cared for at Ashcroft, a home from home.

My mother has been at this home for over a year and I have visited almost every day. Staff are highly skilled professional carers, able to judge a resident's well-being and swift to act. On two occasions, my mother's life has been saved by admission to hospital through their prompt medical response. They are courteous and caring but most of all they are very kind, always addressing my mother by her name and telling her what they are doing, in a sympathetic manner.
Residents are encouraged to make their rooms their own and have plenty of supervised safe space in which to walk around, both indoors and outside. Activities are varied and interesting for those who want to participate and well-organised by a dedicated leisure therapist who values highly the residents' dignity and freedom of choice.
The on-line Relatives Gateway allows relatives to see what happens each day and is particularly valuable to my family members unable to visit regularly.

This is a safe, very caring place.

Staff are very helpful and join in with residents. They always let you know if the resident has any appointments or had a doctor out they are always happy to help.

Activities are played daily and have a lost property day to which is very helpful for the residents if they have lost something

My brother and I were looking for a care home for our mother in April 2014. Upon entering Ashcroft there was an immediate feeling of warmth and friendliness. The staff are amazingly cheerful, helpful and caring. There are many activities which take place there which all the residents enjoy. Our mother passed away in December 2015 but she was happy at Ashcroft. Thank you to all the staff for the first class care you gave to her and continue to give to all the other residents.

My sister and I were looking for a home to care for our mother in April 2014. As soon as we entered Ashcroft we could tell that this was the place we needed and wanted our mother to live. The care is outstanding. The staff are all helpful and very friendly. Unfortunately, our mother passed away recently, but I know she was happy at Ashcroft. To the staff: thank you for gold plated care. I am in your debt.

We came to Ashcroft having visited several potential homes for my mother once she became so ill with Alzheimer's that Dad could no longer manage. The decor is unimpressive and the building itself needs investment. BUT...put this behind you if you truly care for your friend or relative because it is most unlikely that you will ever find another residence where the managers and carers are as decent and committed to the folk under their roof. Absolutely nothing reasonable is too much trouble for the staff to attend to; residents are treated as real human beings with individual needs; any medical problems are instantly dealt with; food is very good; activities are varied and well differentiated. My mother was always clean and properly dressed no matter when we arrived; and the sad final provision of end-of-life care was sympathetic, professional and deeply personal.

The sort of care that Mum received here cannot simply be bought with high fees; it has to come from both institutional and individual excellence.

I am positive that we could have found another placement for Mum at twice the price, offering beautiful brochures, fancy corporate image and smooth talk to relatives; beautiful furnishings and luxurious decoration, and only half the attention to care of the resident.

Ashcroft House is a place that can be trusted.

I have more than 10 years experience in Hospitality management. I then decided to help my husband in running our family furniture business for few years. During Covid-19 lockdown our family business closed down. To financially support my family I decided to join to a care home environment in Ashcroft Nursing Home. I then furthered my role working as a Activity co-ordinator with the same organisation.
