The caring is very good. Carers are always close when I need them, and so is the nurse.
I cannot ask for anything more. Cleaning levels are fantastic. I am very happy with my staying at Highfield Care Home.

Staff are very pleasant and easy to talk to. Work hard and understanding of people's needs. Would like to make room for more personal, but appreciate that reminders of past life can be unsettling.

Since the new company has taken over, the home is much nicer, a more positive happy place for my dad. The staff are more available and there seem to be more of them. The rooms are cleaner and better organised. It's nice to see residents in the lounge and sitting in the dining room for meals. A massive
improvement all around. I love the activity/well-being lady, a real asset.

During my mother's three-week hospice stay the nurses and staff were always very friendly, helpful and attentive. It was very evident that they checked/attended to her regularly. When we called they answered the phone and provided accurate/prompt/knowledgeable status. I cannot praise them more.

The staff at Highfield have, from the start, been very caring and supportive towards my husband. They have always been friendly and helpful, and taken time to inform us of his progress and any issues with his health and wellbeing. They always try to involve him in activities but respect his wishes when
he doesn't want to participate. They have also provided me with support on the occasions when I have found the situation hard to cope with emotionally. Overall, I think they are providing an excellent service.

My partner has been here since October 2021 due to a stroke, which leaves him unable to communicate clearly and unable to get about. The staff have been very patient and caring in trying to help him with these things, and he indicated that he is very comfortable at Highfield. I find the staff very welcoming
and helpful.

My father in law was admitted to Highfield care home after a long horrible hospital admission, Highfield welcomed Dad and made him and us feel like part of a family. I am so thankful for all the staff and the lovely kind manager at Highfield, they have reduced the family's stress levels massively and
always welcome us with a big smile and a hug if we need one.

My aunt has been at Highfield for two and a half years. We have found the staff friendly and positive. She tells us the care is good and she is comfortable. Mentally she is now less good (at almost 102) but she is a formidable person so I think the comments she made say six months ago can be taken seriously.
My family and I think Highfield has done a great job looking after her.

As a daughter of a resident, I have always found the staff at Highfield very approachable, accommodating and kind. They treat my father with respect, and it makes me feel reassured to know that they would contact me any time for any reason at all. This has definitely made it easier for us to cope with
the upset and sadness which has been very difficult regarding making the decision for my father to go into a care home.

Although our brother's time in Highfield Care Home was to be short, the staff we dealt with from domestic staff and carers to the nurses has been excellent. All our questions answered and his care has been handled with dignity and respect. We found all the staff very helpful and friendly. In these hard
times of COVID rules, our brother's needs were all met. We as a family were very happy with the care and attention given.

Our mum has been in Highfield since July 2019 we can't express the care and support that mum and her family have had from the staff. Her care is second to none we are so pleased we chose Highfield Care Home. Nobody wants her loved ones residential care but Highfield is just the place for love, care
and support. During lockdown, we knew mum was in good hands so we had no worries about her. Mum is treated like one of their own.

I cannot thank the staff here enough for the care and support given to my mother-in-law she was here for the last 12 months and was looked after so well.
Whenever I visited the home, I felt part of the big family environment and was always greeted by friendly members of the team who always knew who
I was and who I was visiting and always had the time to talk to me.
I would not hesitate to recommend the home to any family looking for the same facilities that we were looking for.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.219)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.219) out of 10 for Highfield Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.519 for Highfield Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (51 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 81 Ratings = 4.519
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Highfield Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 34 registered maximum number of service users is 6.8, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
