Excellent care and attention is given to all residents by friendly and dedicated staff. Rooms are kept neat and tidy and the food is served punctually and to a good standard. Extra activities such as "sing a longs" keep the residents happy and occupied. In general, my mother appears to be happy and
well looked after and I would recommend this care home to anybody who is in the same portions.

What a fabulous care home! My first impression with both the manager and admin lady was brilliant, very welcoming doesn't express my feelings adequately.
I was guided through the whole procedure of getting my mum into Highfield in a simplistic way and could ask questions along the way. Every member
of staff is dedicated to the care of every patient, they are all so lovely.

The home is welcoming, the staff are helpful, cheerful and it has a lovely homely feeling.
The residents always look well cared for and clean. No nasty smells. No one wants to end up in a care home but if you did, this would be the one I would choose for myself.

My mum has been a resident in here for just on two years this month. It is the best thing that has ever happened to her, the staff are lovely and are all so kind and generous with their time. The annual garden party (fete) was a day to remember.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Highfield for the care of your loved one. Having looked at many care homes for my parents-in-law, Highfield immediately appealed to us because of its relaxed and homely feel. My father-in-law was here for eighteen months and my mother-in-law has been at Highfield for
several years now, and we have been very happy with the genuine care, love and respect shown to them by the staff.
On every visit you can see how caring everybody is and, as a family, we always feel welcome to visit and to get involved in events. We are very grateful to Highfield for all their hard work and dedication, and we feel lucky to have been able to place our family members there. Thank you!

I was recently in England to visit my Mum who has been in your care home Highfield (Bekesbourne) now for almost two years. We couldn't wish for her to be in a more serene and lovely place. The staff are just wonderful, so very friendly from the moment we entered to when we left, my Mum is being treated
so well by all the team there. She enjoys all the activities especially the singing and the music man on a Tuesday. We are very lucky to have her there. The food looks and smells delicious and my Mum enjoys it.
Thanks to all the cooks and kitchen staff, they do a wonderful job, as do all the staff. Wishing you all the very best and thank you all for taking such good care of my Mum. Hello to all the residents I met and to all the staff. Keep up your good work.
Many thanks, best wishes and kind regards to you all.

The staff are kind and friendly. The food is good and varied drinks are regularly provided to the rooms and visitors are able to use tea and coffee making areas in the kitchen. Cleanliness and hygiene are good. My only issue is that regular visitors are not allowed to know the entry code. Having to
be admitted by staff is time-consuming for everyone.

The standard of care is exceptionally high and residents are treated well and as individuals. As much dignity as possible is afforded to residents and my father has improved in his wellbeing since living there. Above all, the staff are truly fantastic, from the housekeeping, food, staff, nurses and
entertainment coordinator, everyone has a positive, friendly and caring nature.
I am extremely impressed by all the staff and grateful to them all.

I have visited a lot over the last couple of months at different times of the day and night.
All the staff are friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. My mum came here for respite and wanted to stay indefinitely. That says it all.

I come to see my mother as often as possible as I live in Spain, saying that, I am usually here 8 out of 12 months. Every time I come, I have to say I find the staff and management extremely kind and always very helpful. The food always looks appetising and everyone is extremely cheerful. I don't think
my mum could be in a better place.

From the start of my wife's residence, I was impressed by the kindness and attention to both residents and their visitors. Since her admittance last August, I have sat with her daily because I wanted to be with her (we have been married 65 years) and I did not want her to feel she was entire with a
strange environment, but during the past few days I have taken time out to be with my brother and his daughter from Canada and I have felt secure that my wife is with friends and she is in good care.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.407)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.407) out of 10 for Highfield Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.807 for Highfield Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (70 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 83 Ratings = 4.807
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Highfield Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 34 registered maximum number of service users is 6.8, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
