My 92-year-old mother came to Highfield in April 2015.
She was CHC fast-tracked by the hospital and very frail, underweight, had pressure sores - we were very concerned about her.
Highfield's excellent care nursed her back to health, and she has enjoyed a good standard of life for the past two years.
I know all the staff and they are always receptive to my concerns or requests for Mum's care.
Her health is now starting to fail, and I have been impressed with the level of care and kindness shown to her and to me at this time.

I have marked it good because Highfield is still improving its facilities but the most important element - the care - is excellent.

My wife passed away here a few years ago. The standard of care she received was so good that I became friendly with all the staff and also with a number of residents and I still visit a certain resident who has a connection with me. When you come into this home you feel the love and affection which abounds here.

The manager ensures that all the necessary criteria are rigidly adhered to and I think that this care home is a template of how a home like this should be run.

I have have been happy with Highfield Care Home with the exception of one significant even concerning my mother's safety/safeguarding, this has been addressed and I am now satisfied.

There have been significant efforts to improve and my mother seems well looked after and is as comfortable and content as she can be at this difficult time for her.

The building has character and in beautiful surroundings. With such an older building there are maintenance issues. My mother is very happy, well fed, encouraged to be independent. She has been in the home for three years.

The staff have always been polite to my mother and to myself when I visit. I always feel welcomed into the home.

My mother has been a resident at Highfield for just over a year. Despite her severe dementia, the staff are able to relate to her in an appropriate and cheerful manner while delivering personal and medical care and treating her with dignity.

Overall Experience

I came here in January 2014, aged 65. Since then I have been extremely well looked after. I have MS and many other problems. When my legs became ulcerated, the nurses cared for them and still do. There are no activities at present as the person who arranges this has been in the office. There are no funds for anything anyway. However, apart from this, I have no other complaints. The carers are mostly very young now, but they are all very kind, conscientious and good at their jobs. The cleaners work extremely hard to keep this old building clean and hygienically safe.
