My husband, with complicated special needs, stayed while I, his 24/7 carer, had respite. He has always been excessively anxious when l am out of his sight, and l was concerned he would be desperately unhappy. However, on returning home, he was saying he had had a wonderful time and was now sad because he would be all alone again, with no one popping in. He had been really happy with all the kind and friendly staff and will be glad to return. I felt that all the staff went out of their way to make him comfortable and stress-free, that includes the chef. The local district nurses also speak highly of Rusthall Lodge and l would recommend it unreservedly. We will be back!
I visited my father and as on previous visits noted the kindness and respect shown by the staff members who looked after dad. From the moment I entered and received a friendly greeting and a cup of tea it was clear that Rustall Lodge place great importance on ensuring their residents feel safe, cared for and content. Dad's room was comfortable he enjoys the food and has mentioned a number of times how friendly, helpful and attentive the staff are. Rates are high but there is no doubt that the quality of care here is also high. Thank you to concerned.
Have always been very impressed with quality of care and attention the resident has received, even during the worst of the pandemic. Communications with relatives could be improved but has not caused a problem. A little more attention to tidiness of resident's rooms is needed occasionally. Overall, the standard of care and kindness at Rusthall Lodge is exemplary.
My wife went into Rusthall Lodge in December 22021. Everyone at Rusthall Lodge did a fantastic job in welcoming her and getting her settled in. She has settled in really well and really appreciated the way the care staff look after her.
The staff at Rusthall Lodge do their best to make Rusthall Lodge a friendly and happy place. Keeping going during the pandemic has been an additional challenge.
Staff are friendly, caring and approachable and there are regular varied activities available to residents.
As a family, we are updated with information about changes for the residents, in particular now with regard to mum’s current health, and during the pandemic we have been kept very well informed and supported, with continued safe visits once they were allowed.
The only negative point is with regard to food. The weekly menu looks amazing, with a very good selection of meals on offer however the meals provided to mum during our visits were not good and did not appear to have been presented with a poor appetite in mind. Having said that, I enjoyed a very nice lunch in the dining room in November last year and we are aware that the home have been trying to address the issue regarding meals.
Rusthall Lodge is in a quiet area with accommodation on two floors. Rooms at the front overlook gardens and staff parking space, at the back you can see woodland. Activities here are a book group, poetry group, and various craft activities popular games are available. Scrabble is a favourite. Residents have meals in the dining room or their rooms. The food is good with large helpings. Wine or fruit juice is served at mealtimes. Most important is the way the home looks after your health. The Lodge was extremely good at dealing with Covid using lateral flow tests, PCR tests lockdown, and barrier nursing.
My uncle has lived at Rusthall Lodge for just over 3 years. Despite nearing 100 he continues to be interested in everything around him and greatly enjoys some of the activities arranged by staff. It is sad that these have had to be scaled back due to the covid restrictions and currently there are only in-house run activities. He has made his room his own, bringing in quite a bit of his own furniture and putting his drawing talent to great use, and covering a wall with his drawings. The staff take good care of him and he enjoys his chats with them. He is not always happy with his meals but my aunt was such a good cook that it is unlikely anyone would live up to her culinary delights! I am always welcomed when I visit and receive regular emails on what is happening. Thank you to everyone at Rusthall Lodge.
The care at Rusthall Lodge would be greatly improved for residents if, for example, there were additional therapies available; for examples physiotherapy, acupuncture or other appropriate therapies which would improve residents' quality of life, rather than sustaining their life just through medication.
What we like about Rusthall Lodge is how light and airy it is and the lovely garden for the residents to sit in.
We are kept updated with information about changes for the residents and have been supported to continue visiting Mum during the pandemic, which we have obviously been concerned about.
There are few homes in the county that (in my opinion) ticked all the boxes but Rusthall Lodge is right up there among the best. It's modern and purpose-built which is preferable to a conversion for ease of movement around the home, good size rooms and excellent TV with a direct dial phone to each room.
Even though Mum moved in at the start of the pandemic, the home did absolutely all they could to make the residents as comfortable and as safe as they could. Since restrictions have eased it's been a pleasure to drop in and sit in the comfortable day rooms or in the well-tended gardens with Mum.
She is very contented there and the professional and caring attitude of all the staff is apparent in all the dealings with residents and family members.
We can relax and know that our friend is well looked after in every way.
The premises are always very clean and tidy and all the facilities are well maintained.
Our friend enjoys the food and also the activities now they have been able to restart them. The ability to join in or have some quiet time alone is great.
I can’t recommend Rusthall Lodge enough.
My husband has been receiving excellent care and attention at Rusthall Lodge for over 9 months now. We have found the staff very helpful and caring. They even take time to communicate my husband's condition to me by email as they know I am unable to use phones due to profound deafness.
Mum is happy, well cared for and the staff are kind. There are plenty of activities for residents to join in with. Food is very good, catering for all diets.
My mother has lived here for nearly three years. Although I have seen a great improvement in the last six-nine months, my concern lies with the staffing levels, that seem to me have been possibly sacrificed for other more superficial and non-superficial changes. Today I saw one HCA while I was here for an hour. This is not good enough and is unsafe for residents.
Thank you for your review of our service. Our staffing levels are mapped to the dependency of the residents in our care and seeing one HCA may not be unusual if others are engaged in assisting other residents. We can assure you that our service is never left unsafe. If you would like to discuss...
My father spent 1 and a half years at Rusthall Lodge Care Home and we were very happy with the level of care he received. He was always treated with dignity and respect and our whole family were made to feel welcome. I would not hesitate to recommend Rusthall Lodge to friends and am very grateful for the care they provided and the kindness they consistently showed.
Thank you for your kind words. We know how overwhelming choosing the right care home can be. We're very pleased you chose us for your father and he was a pleasure to look after.
Otherwise, we are very pleased and feeling the benefit of 24-hour care.
Thank you for taking the time to complete a review for us and being honest in your appraisal of the activities. I will ensure one of the team continues to encourage your father in the hope that he engages with the social aspects of life.
The reason I award care/support, staff and management "Good" as opposed to "Excellent" is because I am concerned about the amount of time unanswered bells continue to ring.

My mother has been a resident for over two years. Overall, the standard of care has been good. The professionalism of staff, particularly on weekdays has been excellent. There is sometimes a problem at weekends due to the number of different staff on duty and this has on occasion given rise to poor communication. Activities are excellent, meals can sometimes be tasteless despite the best efforts of staff to accommodate the likes and dislikes of individual residents.

Having been a public servant for many years (in the police) it has been a very pleasing experience to be in receipt of kindness and support of Rusthall Lodge staff.
