After a long wait, my father in law was offered a place at another home via social services. Whilst it was nice, having visited Heatherdale, we were keen for him to go there.
Right from the initial visit, everyone at the home was friendly & inviting. I spoke to a number of the residents families to ask them their thoughts too & genuinely was pleased by all their responses. It's a really hard task finding the right place for a family member & not one we took lightly.

Emma, Sharon & the team are so lovely & welcomed Alan into the home with open arms. My father in law had PSP, a degenerative disease that's very rare however, all the staff were keen to understand his needs & take the time to talk to him & made him felt heard. There are no set visiting times which as a family we really liked, it meant we could pop in at anytime & felt reassured they had nothing to hide. My father in law unfortunately passed away in March 26 but wouldn't hesitate recommending Heatherdale.

The kindness and compassion of the staff at Heatherdale during Mum's final days was amazing. They made a very sad situation more bearable, giving support and a hug when needed. I would recommend Heatherdale to anyone who was neededing a nursing home place for a relative.

My husband spent two weeks in Heatherdale Nursing Home before he passed away. I was so glad he went there as my mother was in there a few years ago. I cannot thank the nursing staff and management for the care and respect they gave him unto he passed away.

I will always be grateful to them all. It was like a second family to us as a family. Caring, calm and a lovely atmosphere.

My husband was a resident at Heatherdale for just one week. He passed away peacefully, in no pain, in this home.
His care and nursing were exemplary. He was treated with respect and kindness by every member of the staff.
The management and doctor kept us up to date at all times. After spending 4 weeks in hospital he was given special care and attention.

He was happy, comfortable and at peace when he passed. Thank you Heatherdeal from the Hunter family.

My mum was only at Heatherdale for a few days but it was the most difficult time for her and us as a family. The manager and her staff were excellent, from viewing the home, to caring for my mum to their support and compassion shown to us. We could not have found better. Ir was a huge relief knowing my mum was safe and cared for in the last few days of her life. The manager at Heatherdale is outstanding.

My mum sadly passed away last week at Heatherdale. She didn't want to go into a nursing home, but she soon settled in due to the care and support from all staff. Heatherdale is a very welcoming place and is kept clean and fresh to a very high standard. Communication is good, and management and the nurses were always available if I had any concerns. There were activities most days, in the lounge, lots of parties and singers which everyone enjoyed. At the end, mum was treated with great care and dignity, and I take great comfort that I was with her when she passed peacefully. All the kindness and support by everyone will be forever in my heart.

My mother has been cared for here for the past year. Her care is excellent. She took a long time to settle but has had sympathetic encouragement from staff and now seems very settled and happily talks about activities they do. Mum's favourite is bingo. Dad was only in Heather Dale Nursing Home for a short while. During that time he was treated with kindness, and respect and given the very best care. My family and I were made to feel very welcome when we visited no matter what time of day or night it was. We were supported by the nursing staff throughout the palliative care/end-of-life treatment.
Dad passed away peacefully and in no pain.

We would not hesitate in recommending Heather Dale Nursing Home to others. We were so impressed with everything and everyone.

My mum has been in Heatherdale Nursing Home for 7 and a half years and I’m very happy with the care that she has received. I know that she is safe and well looked after.
The carers that have been there since my mum arrived have been the best at keeping me updated and it’s nice to see familiar faces.
The entertainment that’s arranged each day definitely keeps the residents motivated.

I hope the home continues with the high standards.

Heather Dale is an excellent nursing home. The staff are friendly and caring and do their utmost for her. When my wife first went there she was very ill, but through the care and attention that she has been given, she has made a remarkable recovery. There are plenty of well-run activities and opportunities to socialise throughout the week. She also has a good degree of autonomy which is beneficial to her. Communication between staff and family is excellent and the home is welcoming and friendly. I feel reassured that my wife is in such a caring home and I know that the family appreciate all that is being done for her.

Communal Lounge - Residents left unattended for long periods. Most were not mobile so unable to reach the call alarm on the wall. My mother had to shout for help if she wanted aid, this labelled her disruptive.
Activities - Rare.
Entertainment - Limited, apart from TV.

Carers - Some were very kind, others were not.

Mum had lost mobility. She frequently needed the toilet, some carers showed it was a nuisance for them. The wait for assistance was often 30 minutes or much longer which was distressing for Mum and she was made to feel an inconvenience. She told me ‘just because I’m old they think I have no feelings’. She deteriorated, I often found her confused and nervously grinding her jaw. After 7 months Mum moved to a better care home, she improved dramatically! Within a week she was walking again with a frame and was even able to visit the toilet by herself! Mum was no longer confused or anxious, she regained her dignity and quality of life. I wish she had moved away from Heather Dale sooner.
