My week was an experience as expected. What I didn't know was just how small and hard the bed was, it was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in. This was my reason for not wishing to take up a permanent residency.
Reply from Jessica Poyant, General Manager at The Cotswold HomeThank you for your review and we are sorry you did not find the bed comfortable. We hope you take care and in was a pleasure to have you join us.

When my wife and I go away on holiday, my father moves from our house into Elizabeth Finn at Burford. He is always welcomed and made to feel at home. The rooms are comfortable and the food is always of a very high standard with a good choice of menu. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and all
my father's needs are met with kindness and a smile from the staff. We always go away knowing we have left him in good hands.
Reply from Jessica Poyant, General Manager at The Cotswold HomeThank you very much for your kind words. We all look forward to your father joining us when he does come for his visits. I am glad you are reassured, that is exactly what we are here for.

During the six years my mother lived at The Cotswold Home, she was treated with dignity, respect, and a level of personal attention and nursing for which I will always be grateful. The continuity of key staff, the calm and cheerful atmosphere, the dining facilities, and the welcome given to guests and
relatives of residents were all notable. Initially reluctant to leave her own house, my mother was quickly won over by the friendliness of the staff, great physiotherapy, lunch everyday with other interesting residents, and the ability to ask for hot chocolate whenever she wished! She stopped being lonely and found a peace that had eluded her when struggling on her own. In her final two years, as my mother became increasingly frail, the nursing was meticulous and deeply caring through difficult times. And, when it came, the end of life care was exceptional in its humanity and level of attention. My mother was surrounded by affection at the Home and she was fond of many staff members.
Reply from Jessica Poyant, General Manager at The Cotswold HomeWhat a heartfelt review, thank you so much. It was an absolute pleasure to have your mum here and I know the staff were equally as fond of her and her family. Thank you for your kind words.

My mother came to the home first for respite care but found the support so good that she stayed for years, gradually needing higher levels of care and support. Throughout the staff were exceptional, showing real care for the person. We ended up feeling that the home was a sort of extension to the family
- perhaps especially given we all had to live through the pandemic. Having visited some other homes, I would say that the levels of care are unusually high, both in terms of the patience of the staff - and also the staffing levels and availability. The care home was recommended to us by someone who had two long-term resident parents and I would also strongly recommend it to anyone needing a warm and caring environment.
Reply from Jessica Poyant, General Manager at The Cotswold HomeThank you for your lovely words - and what a privilege it was for us to look after your mother all this time.

I found the Cotswold Care Home to be exceptional in all regards, kind sensitive and caring staff, a wonderful calm and nicely designed environment around a lovely courtyard, lovely food and generally well cared for and calm residents who seem very content there. My father suffered a stroke and needed
respite and assessment on his discharge from 4 weeks in hospital and the Cotswold Care Home proved to be the perfect environment where he has been very happy and seems to be making a very good recovery. Highly Recommended.

My husband has terminal brain cancer which is causing significant disabilities these are physical and he is fully lucid. I am his wife and main carer and was delighted to find such a brilliant caring and safe home which we are now using for monthly respite for three nights at a time. The staff all make
eye contact, treat everyone with respect and dignity and genuinely seem to enjoy their work. The atmosphere is inclusive and welcoming. The respite is giving me a break whilst knowing my husband is well looked after.

I came here on respite to attend a meeting on a very strong recommendation. I was greeted and immediately joined such friendly and caring staff. This stay coincided with the 75th BBQ celebration which was really enjoyable. The group on the roof with the 40s song was great. Made friends very quickly.
My leg treatment was done morning and night.

My mother has spent over a month at The Cotswold Home and has been looked after incredibly well. The staff are kind, patient and always good-humoured. The home is bright and clean, beautifully decorated with large gardens and the bonus of the Bradwell Village gardens next door to be enjoyed in the sunshine.
She's thoroughly enjoyed the food and the friendships she made with the staff. We can't thank you enough and we highly recommend The Cotswold Home, whether for respite care or long-term living.

My mother needed some respite care following a fall at home and brief hospital admission. At short notice, a room was made available, and Mum was soon enjoying a 5-star luxury holiday with all the trimmings! Not only are the rooms immaculate, every part of the home is the same, including the lovely
gardens. There is a relaxed atmosphere the moment you walk through the doors, and you know this is a safe and happy place. Food is plentiful and very appetising, and if you are a visitor, you can have lunch with your loved one or help yourself to a treat in reception. Every member of the team is so kind and professional and goes the extra mile without being asked. Mum calls it her second home, and there really is no better accolade I can give. I would recommend The Cotswold Home to anyone who wants the very best for their loved ones.

The Cotswold Home accepted dad last minute having been discharged from hospital physically and mentally very weak. Dad lives alone and we wanted him to enjoy care and attention with a goal to regain the strength to tackle the medical treatment he will subject himself to fight cancer. Having been in
his new home for 2 weeks we can safely say he is in the best place possible and I go further and say best home! The home and staff provide a clean, fresh and friendly environment. Everybody, staff and residents are all so happy and loving which had given our dad a great feeling of happiness during so very sad and dark times. Well done all.

My mother aged 94 was living independently until she had a bad fall which required a hip replacement and subsequent rehabilitation in a care home. We chose The Cotswold Home and could not have been happier about it.
The facilities including the rooms are bright and clean with a lovely garden part
of which is in a courtyard for easy access. Most importantly, the staff were exceptionally welcoming and committed to giving the residents the best possible life and care.
There is only one place better and that is home where my mother has returned with a carer but there is no question that if she has to move to a care home again it will be The Cotswold Home.
Many thanks to all the staff.
Reply from Jessica Poyant, General Manager at The Cotswold HomeThank you for your encouraging words. The staff, as you saw, really do care and want the very best for our residents.

Mum has been in this home since September last year. The home is clean, bright and airy with cheery staff and it is a relief to know that she is being well looked after and comfortable. She has made friends among the other residents and enjoys being there. I would recommend it to anyone looking for

The Cotswold Home is set in beautiful surroundings and is very tastefully appointed in every way. This home simply boasts super views from all angles. Residents are surrounded and cared for by professional, friendly and genuinely caring staff. Nothing is too much trouble. The catering/restaurant facilities
are also great and the food very good.
Our mum was admitted in October 2022 and she has received nothing less than excellent care. It is so reassuring to know that the home is efficiently managed and run by people who really do. We would not hesitate in recommending this home to anyone who needs reassurance that their loved ones will be in safe and capable hands.

The Cotswold Home is a beautiful purpose built, homely, light and airy spacious building. There is always someone friendly at reception to welcome residents and visitors and without fail help is offered to carry bags.
Returning respite residents are warmly welcomed back and rooms are clean. Food is
generally of a very good standard. The catering staff really go to town for special occasions and make these days so enjoyable.
Permanent staff are generally extremely kind, caring and adaptable but it is very apparent that they are very stretched at times. Not enough of them which is so sad when paying so much money.
Reply from Jessica Poyant, General Manager at The Cotswold HomeThank you for your lovely review and I shall pass the comments on to the staff who really appreciate the feedback.
Our special occasions are really emphasised by the catering team and are thoroughly enjoyed by everyone, we aim for a special lunch monthly.
On some occasions staffing has been tricky, especially as we continue to deal with Covid as a home, however with new people also joining the team, we hope to see less stretched times.

When my husband needed immediate admittance to a care facility on 13th January following a debilitating stroke, The Cotswold Home facilitated that admittance calmly and efficiently. The manager sympathetically soothed our panic and everything was organised to make it easier for us to cope with a very
difficult situation.
He made quite good physical progress in the immediate aftermath - able to walk again short distances with a walking frame following sessions with the physiotherapist but had lost a great deal of mental capacity.
He stayed four weeks, after which we moved him to another care home situated much more conveniently in our own town. The manager affected the transfer in the home’s mini-bus and even accompanied us on the journey to ensure a smooth hand-over and for that we are very grateful.
Reply from Jessica Poyant, General Manager at The Cotswold HomeThank you for your kind words.
You both had quite the journey and it was a pleasure being able to help as much as we could and as quickly.
It was important for us all to ensure the transition was as smooth as it could be for your husband to his new home also, so glad we were able to facilitate using the minibus.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.698)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.698) out of 10 for The Cotswold Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.798 for The Cotswold Home is calculated as follows: ( (170 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 198 Ratings = 4.798
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Cotswold Home is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 51 registered maximum number of service users is 10.2, which has been reached with 16 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
