Halliwell Care Home

from Liz P (Daughter of Resident) published on 30 December 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
I would like to express my thanks and admiration to all the staff at the Halliwell for managing a very challenging time recently, whilst without any mains water. Despite having no water for several days, the team coped admirably, adapting their personal care appropriately. The kitchen continued to operate
smoothly, having bought in disposable crockery and cutlery. Unbelievably, no emergency water supplies were delivered initially, so members of staff (especially Stuart) spent his days collecting water from distribution centres. Thankfully, after a few days, pallets of water were eventually delivered.
I would also like to add, that I take great comfort knowing that my mother is well cared for, happy and safe. She participates and thoroughly enjoys numerous activities and has made many friends during her four and a half years at Halliwell. I am always grateful to the staff for their kindness and professionalism but recently they have certainly gone above and beyond!

I had spent 8 weeks in hospital after having an amputation and numerous falls. I am also a Type 1 diabetic with heart failure. I needed a short time of continued nursing care while recovering enough to go home. Eversfield was so welcoming and friendly that I immediately felt comfortable. There is nothing
I would want to criticise.
My visitors were made most welcome too and appreciated their coffee and biscuits in the lovely conservatory. My wife could relax knowing I was being looked after so well.

We were invited to attend the Cotswold Home pre Christmas lunch which as usual was a really excellent occasion.
We have been associated with the care home for over twelve years as both our mothers were past residents.
Mother in Law was in the home for three years during which time she received excellent
care.
My mother was in the home for nearly eleven years and reached her 100th birthday during that time.
Reply from Rares Pop, General Manager at The Cotswold HomeThank you for your kind review.
We are delighted that you enjoyed the pre-Christmas lunch and truly appreciate your long-standing association with the home. Your generous comments about the care provided to both your mother-in-law and your mother, especially during such significant years, mean a great deal to our team.
We wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and our best wishes for the New Year.

My mother was admitted on Monday, 10th November. From the admission day, the home were so welcoming, we were offered a meal with mum, and the food was delicious and very well presented. Mum's room is beautiful with an en-suite and garden view. Staff are always smiling, and the care is excellent. The
home manager met us and answered all of our questions. She did not rush us and was very informative. It is a lovely home.

The nurses and carers were all very kind and attentive to my mum. The range and frequency of activities was excellent for socialisation and sessions were run by enthusiastic team members. Her room was lovely, light, spacious and attractive. The building itself is very attractive with lots of space and
plenty of different living rooms - more like a country house hotel than a care home.

Our family has four birthdays in November and we wanted my husband (who is a resident receiving nursing care on Care Base 1) to be able to part of the celebrations for his son, his daughter and two small grandsons. I am so grateful to the staff at Grove Court - especially the kitchen staff - who helped
make it possible. My husband could be with us in his wheelchair. We had the Whistock lounge to ourselves for our pre-selected Sunday lunch and pudding was a beautiful and enormous birthday cake celebrating all four family members.
These personal moments help to keep us united as a family in our love for my husband - thank you Grove Court for making it possible.

Both my parents entered the Lodge in late 2021, my father dying soon after. However, in that short period his care was first class. My mother was resident there with worsening dementia until death. All the staff and management without exception were compassionate and caring, and seemed to treat residents

I highly recommend the Lodge in all respects.

A great find - Being responsible for organizing the care for a family member is a tough one when you have no experience of the care system. From the moment I contacted Debi and her team they couldn't have been more helpful - I was super impressed with the timely responses and above all the sense of
care. This made the while process so much easier. I visited and my care is now in a lovely room with the most delightful staff, and a very impressive food offer, it has made a difficult situation so much easier with their help.

It was easy for us to choose the Lodge as a care home for our mother as we had received excellent recommendations from people that we trusted.
They were not wrong. From the moment that my mother arrived up until her death each and every member of the staff that we encountered were unfailingly friendly

This short stay reinforced my two visits, that this is a very well run home with a most pleasing atmosphere of calm efficiency. My room was very near to the dining room which was always set-up with imaculate white cloths and papkins and lovely fresh flowers daily. I joined in to talk with residents,
early on. Food was well balanced (lists of menus for nearly all meals were in the room) breakfast was a real joy, the gentleman in charge made it such a pleasurable experience it was even more so when the 107 yr old lady appeared and livened things up!! Altogether, with the beautiful garden and summer house I really look forward to living there next year.

My mom was moved for her end of life care at Rashwood straight from hospital approximately two weeks ago.

I have been so impressed with everything thus far, the building is stunning and the grounds beautiful even in winter. The food is excellent and always well presented, relatives are able to pay

a nominal fee for a lovely three course meal and and join loved ones which is fabulous.

What makes Rashwood so special though is the staff team, domestic, carers, admin, ancillary staff and management have all gone out of their way to welcome my mom, showing such kindness to both her and to us as family members.

I worked in senior social care and health roles all of my life , and to date, Rashwood has exceeded all expectations; Thankyou for the smiles, chats, kindness and care .

Our mum was a resident at Merlewood for 3 1/2 years and we are so pleased that we found such a wonderful care home. Many of the staff are long serving and that continuity is so vital when you are elderly. The grounds are beautiful, well maintained and accessible by wheelchair. Management are available
and always respond quickly to queries. The cleaners work tirelessly to maintain very high standards in residents rooms and communal areas and are always polite and cheerful. Our mother transitioned to nursing care earlier this year and we were grateful that although her care needs increased that we did not need to move her and she could remain at Merlewood. Carers and nurses are kind, respectful and compassionate and interact with residents with respect and dignity. There is a wide variety of activities and events, something for everyone from summer fairs and dog shows to themed dinners and live singers. A very special place.

The Lodge is an exceptional care home. My father lived there for the past five years until his death this autumn. He had very complex care needs following a stroke, and for the last 18 months of his life was unable to move or speak more than a word or two. For the staff at the Lodge this has meant years
of feeding him by hand, moving him by hoist, dressing him etc. They carried out these tasks with kindness, good humour and respect. Here are some of the key good points regarding the Lodge:
- kind and patient staff,
- warm, very pleasant atmosphere,
- excellent freshly prepared food,
- responsive and organised management,
- experienced, professional and compassionate nursing team.
During the final week of my father's life, the staff at the Lodge were outstandingly kind. They spoke to us with compassion and brought us coffee, cake and meals by Dad's bedside so we could stay by him during his final hours. Thanks to the Lodge, my Dad had a peaceful and gentle passing. Thank you.
Reply from Deborah Skinner, General Manager at The LodgeThank you so much for this extraordinary and wonderful review. It has been such a pleasure to look after your father, and to know all the family as well. It makes me very proud to know that we did this so well for you. Thank you again.
