Rashwood has a very warm and friendly environment from the moment you step through the door. Staff are genuinely caring and build good relationships with the residents. They are always available to listen and will accommodate most things at a moment's notice. Food is varied menu wise and a good selection
on offer.

My only criticism would be around some of the planned activities as our mum only has use of one hand so cannot do majority of things on offer. Also there could be more thought put into the activities themselves as can come across as a bit childlike. Most people are intelligent & may find some activities a little patronising? Just my opinion of course!

My husband needs nursing care - and here at Merlewood he gets that. The nurses and carers are so compassionate and treat their people with dignity and kindness. It is so good to see the same carers and nurses to help continuity and less confusion. When dealing with people who cannot do the most basic
things it takes very special people. My only negative is that at weekends it can seem like the staffing levels are much lower and standards slip. Possibly a weekend manager? The catering varied and always good choice. Wonderful cleaning and laundering. Garden a joy!

My mother has been at Halliwell for six weeks and we are very impressed with everything. The Home is well run, safe and welcoming - the atmosphere is happy and friendly. The staffing levels seem high and all of the staff we've met are friendly, caring, attentive and professional. We are kept informed
by email of any changes of medicine, visits from the GP and so on, and we can phone to discuss, if desired.
The food is excellent. There are lots of great activities on offer, for those who want to get involved and the staff are making a big effort to get my mother involved, taking her to try out various activities etc
The home is light, bright and spacious with lovely gardens and great pathways for getting some exercise.
We are very happy with Halliwell, as is our mother!

My mother first checked into Rashwood for a week or twos respite. She was slightly reluctant to go at first but after a very impressive tour of the facilities and the wonderful grounds , she decided to give it a go. Within a day or two she felt relaxed and happy. She realised she was in a much more
suitable and safer environment than what she was used to at home and she is now a long term resident. The carers are so friendly, fun and attentive; nothing is too much trouble. The fact that many of them have worked there for decades speaks volumes about the friendly atmosphere. We can visit her anytime and whenever we do all the staff are welcoming and professional : it gives us a lot of comfort to know that mum is in such safe hands. The facilities and food are excellent ; the gorgeous gardens are a real bonus and allow mum to spend time outdoors relaxing or exploring the paths on her mobility scooter. Thank you all for looking after her so well.

Having waited over 2 weeks for a response to a letter sent to the Manager following my parents respite stay, we received invoices. Perfectly valid, but with no accompanying letter. I cannot express how upset that made me and prompted me to complete this review.
I believe I was fair in the comments
made. Each point, whilst making my parents stay slightly uncomfortable, were fixable with better communication. The Manager must feel we do not warrant a response. This I find greatly concerning, particulalry where the care of elderly folks is concerned. There should always be a direct route of communication to a Care Home Manager and their duty is to respond to issues raised by either residents or family members for the safeguarding of their patrons.
To those thinking of using this home, I do believe the majority of staff are excellent & I dont want them to feel discouraged. It is spotlessly clean & a lovely environment. I see previouss Manager was quick to respond to issues from family.

The staff at Rashwood are always on hand for a chat and to make sure the residents are comfortable.
Today I joined my aunt for lunch which was 3 delicious courses. My aunt was offered a choice of activities for the afternoon-watching a film, to play a game with a staff member or a walk round the beautiful
gardens.
Rashwood is always clean and well maintained. And the gardens are beautiful at all times of the year.
My aunt has settled into her new home and I'm confident we have made the right choice for her.

My father was admitted to Rashwood in April 2025.
The care he received was first class. All the staff were friendly and professional.
The overall opinion is that the whole place is very accessible, clean, tidy. The grounds are well kept and very picturesque with a variety of wildlife.
The care team
were brilliant, very friendly and chatty, but also respectful. They nursed my dad until his passing in May 2025.
I cannot rate this place, and the staff, high enough. They were very supportive through out the entire time of dads residence.
I am sorry it took so long to put this review in, but it has been hard to adequately send our thanks.

My father has spent a very happy respite stay and Halliwell over July/August and has been generally been looked after well for his daily requirements. We chose this care home having visited others locally as it had a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.
He has enjoyed having a room with a patio door opening
onto a well kept courtyard where he could go for his daily perambulations, with a little encouragement (from family members!)
Overall, I would happily recommend Halliwell Care Home. Thank you.

My mother of 97 was admitted to Rush Court as a residential respite patient following a week of medical care in the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. On admission she was still very frail and poorly mobile with little motivation. Prior to all this she had been slightly struggling to care for herself
in her own small bungalow.
The transfer from Hospital was seamless and she was greeted warmly by lovely staff at Rush Court. Everyone from the reception staff to senior management and the brilliant Physios were remarkable. Caring, efficient and with attention to detail. The environment is amazing and the food excellent.
After 4 weeks in Rush Court she had changed from a slightly depressed, poorly mobile, frail elderly person to a smiling (and occasionally laughing a lot) person walking with a frame and sometimes two sticks. The Physios were incredibly effective.
She didn't want to leave and had nothing but positive experience to report. Highly recommended.

My father had been unwell for a couple of months so he thought that some respite care would be good for him and also for his wife. They were in for 2.5 weeks, sharing a room as they do at home, and the rest did them both the world of good. The food was excellent (I went for lunch one day out of curiosity
and agree with them), the room was comfy, with a lovely view out over the countryside, and the staff were kindness itself. In addition, my stepmum took advantage of the flat and well maintained garden path, and walked all round it at least once a day, which has improved her walking, and as a result, she shuffles much less now. They both agreed it was like a small cosy country hotel and would definitely repeat the experience.

My husband went in for respite during a crisis in our lives. Rush Court is a lovely building in beautiful countryside. The staff are lovely and caring. He had a nice room on the ground floor and elected to have his meals in his room which on reflection was a mistake. The food was of good quality but
often cold when it reached him, particularly the breakfasts. Probably because he was one of very few men there he had no-one to talk to other than the staff and didn't find the activities interesting. He did enjoy the physio sessions though. I went in every day and took him out for a change of scene. We had booked 3 weeks but I brought him home after 2. There was no-one there to say goodbye to us when we left.

My siblings and I were filled with relief when we found Grove Court for our mother. It's been an absolute blessing to know she's in such a caring and supportive environment.
From the moment we first walked through the doors, we were impressed by the warmth and professionalism of the staff. They truly
go above and beyond to ensure the residents feel at home and are well-cared for. My mother is thriving here-she's happy, engaged in activities, and has made some wonderful friends.
What really sets Grove Court apart is the personalized attention each resident receives. The staff take the time to understand individual needs and preferences, creating a truly supportive and nurturing atmosphere. Knowing our mother is not only safe but also happy and stimulated has lifted a huge weight off our shoulders. We couldn't be more grateful for the exceptional care she's receiving.

My mother recently stayed at the Halliwell for some Respite Care after falling,I just wanted thank everyone who was involved in her care and stay there, she went in a frail unsteady lady and has bounced back to her usual positive cheerful self and is back walking independently.
I visited most days
and was totally impressed with the who set up at Halliwell, a particular member of staff who met us and went through things was just superb, the lady on reception whose beaming smile and warm welcome, made everyone feel special, and of course then the whole team on Floor 1 were just superb, kind, understanding and always very positive, my mother couldn't speak highly enough of them all.
The entertainment and activities also played a very bit part in her mental wellbeing and these were very well organised too.
Other than one meal my mother enjoyed all her food and was very happy with the choice so that you chefs and the F&B team.
The home and grounds are immaculate
Well done and a very big thank you
