Excellent care home with brilliant caring staff. Every member of the team is exceptional. When Mum moved in she quickly settled and after just a short time referred to Merlewood as home. Whenever we visit we too are made to feel welcome and nothing is too much for the staff. Mum has had her ups and
downs and the staff have liaised with outside agencies to ensure that her excellent care has continued.
Reply from Debbie Vellender, General Manager at MerlewoodThank you for taking the time to complete this review. Further confirmation of the staff ongoing hard work and team working.

My mum spent 7 weeks in hospital and needed more care and support and from the moment I was greeted at Eversfield by the lovely Chloe I was made to feel comfortable and heard, she listened to everything I said and was very empathetic, she gave me the tour of Eversfield and was very informative, I came
across several members of staff who were all so welcoming.
When it came to the decision of where mum should be hands down Eversfield came out on top.
Mum has now been with the lovely Eversfield team a month now and is starting to settle down, I visit her daily to help with the settling in and have become familiar with most of the staff, the Manager Josephine has been amazing, the chef Glen has accommodated mum's fussy eating, Kate has been amazing too, mum is settling with the help of the activities team, and the lovely carers, Joseph, Sally and Mary are some of the many wonderful team, Tara is so very helpful and has helped me so much, thank you all for taking good care of mum so far
Reply from Kate McDonald, administrator at EversfieldThank you Sandra for such a wonderful review. It's great to see Mum settling in, watching her take part in the chair Yoga yesterday morning was precious and it looked like so much fun. Can't wait to see Mum at the next event.

Having looked at more than 10 care homes, I chose Merlewood for my mother. Best decision I could have made. The accommodation was lovely, clean and more than adequate. All the staff were polite, caring and made my mum feel at home. She was so well looked after, which took a lot of pressure off me. I
would highly recommend Merlewood to anyone considering care for their elderly family members, out of ten.
Reply from Debbie Vellender, General Manager at MerlewoodThank you for your review of your mothers care and stay at Merlewood.

I would like to say how happy we are with the care and support given to mum and us from all the staff. We receive a friendly welcome each visit, and all the different teams are always happy to help. We are very pleased with all aspects of mums care, especially with the transition to nursing care, the
staff explained everything and we can see how settled she is. Thank you Merlewood.

From when my mother first went to Merlewood until she passed away, she was looked after very well. The staff were very approachable and helpful, and always kept me up to date with anything to do with my mother, which I was very grateful for. Many thanks to all the staff at Merlewood.

Comments are made as an occasional visitor, so based on limited exposure to the home. All staff encountered or dealt with have been very friendly, welcoming, helpful and accommodating. In particular I have been impressed by how accommodating and flexible the home has been in connection with a pre-Christmas
party for my mother; the food for which was also excellent in quality and quantity.
Reply from Kate McDonald, administrator at EversfieldThank you Martin for your review, we enjoy having your Mum here at Eversfield and watching her getting stronger everyday.

From when you arrive into the reception area it has a feeling of warmth, this comes from the staff and the residents do seem happy. The nursing staff are very helpful and you can always get to talk to them easily. The food is nicely served by staff that are happy to bring the food when required. All
in all a very lovely nursing home. It's very clean and doesn't have any funny smells.

I had spent 8 weeks in hospital after having an amputation and numerous falls. I am also a Type 1 diabetic with heart failure. I needed a short time of continued nursing care while recovering enough to go home. Eversfield was so welcoming and friendly that I immediately felt comfortable. There is nothing
I would want to criticise.
My visitors were made most welcome too and appreciated their coffee and biscuits in the lovely conservatory. My wife could relax knowing I was being looked after so well.
Reply from Kate McDonald, administrator at EversfieldThank you for your review Christopher, it was our pleasure to get to know you and to welcome all your friends to Eversfield. You and your wife are always welcome to pop in, for a coffee and a catch up.

My mother was admitted on Monday, 10th November. From the admission day, the home were so welcoming, we were offered a meal with mum, and the food was delicious and very well presented. Mum's room is beautiful with an en-suite and garden view. Staff are always smiling, and the care is excellent. The
home manager met us and answered all of our questions. She did not rush us and was very informative. It is a lovely home.
Reply from Kate McDonald, administrator at EversfieldThank you JT, for your lovely review. Eversfield always aims to provide an excellent service and it's great so see from your review we have succeeded.

The nurses and carers were all very kind and attentive to my mum. The range and frequency of activities was excellent for socialisation and sessions were run by enthusiastic team members. Her room was lovely, light, spacious and attractive. The building itself is very attractive with lots of space and
plenty of different living rooms - more like a country house hotel than a care home.
Reply from Kate McDonald, administrator at EversfieldThank you for you lovely review of Eversfield. We do miss your Mum and we would welcome her back anytime, even for a cheeky activity or two.

Such a warm and caring place from the moment I entered the building Chole and Kate in the front office really knew how to treat us. We sat and had a lovely lunch together and noticed all the staff were attentive and polite. Everywhere was bright, fresh and clean. My mum and dad felt and looked happy!

A great find - Being responsible for organizing the care for a family member is a tough one when you have no experience of the care system. From the moment I contacted Debi and her team they couldn't have been more helpful - I was super impressed with the timely responses and above all the sense of
care. This made the while process so much easier. I visited and my care is now in a lovely room with the most delightful staff, and a very impressive food offer, it has made a difficult situation so much easier with their help.

Our mum was a resident at Merlewood for 3 1/2 years and we are so pleased that we found such a wonderful care home. Many of the staff are long serving and that continuity is so vital when you are elderly. The grounds are beautiful, well maintained and accessible by wheelchair. Management are available
and always respond quickly to queries. The cleaners work tirelessly to maintain very high standards in residents rooms and communal areas and are always polite and cheerful. Our mother transitioned to nursing care earlier this year and we were grateful that although her care needs increased that we did not need to move her and she could remain at Merlewood. Carers and nurses are kind, respectful and compassionate and interact with residents with respect and dignity. There is a wide variety of activities and events, something for everyone from summer fairs and dog shows to themed dinners and live singers. A very special place.
