Overview

The Review Score of 7.8 (maximum of 10) for Freeland House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 7 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Freeland House in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.4 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.349 for Freeland House is calculated as follows: ( (46 Excellents x 5) + (23 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 83 Ratings = 4.349

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 3.404 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Freeland House is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 = 3.25

    2. Target of 13 positive Reviews (65 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 2 Reviews ÷ 13 Target = 0.154

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Mum has been at Freeland since December 2015 and has had wonderful care ever since. In February this year she became very ill with the flu and a chest infection and I have been moved to write this review. I just want to thank the staff for all the love, kindness and support they have shown not only mum but also me, through this difficult time. Thanks to the amazing care given she has recovered from her illness and is being kept comfortable while everyone tries to encourage her back to strength. Staff throughout the house go above and beyond to provide a high level of care and it is always provided with respect and a warm smile. I am full of admiration and so grateful for all the work they do and how well they work as one big team - thank you all.

Thank you, Marie, for your kind comments. I will ensure your wonderful feedback is shared with all of the staff at Freeland House.

Thank you for looking after mum for the last two months. All the staff have a very difficult job looking after residents with dementia depending on the severity of it. Unfortunately, mum had a fall and sadly died. The staff at Freeland are extremely good. The matron and her team work well together. My overall view is this is a very good nursing home with caring staff.

Thank you very much for your kind comments. I will pass them onto the staff group.

My grandmother is currently here for respite, for the second time.
The care she has received so far has been above and beyond. All her needs are always met, and nothing is ever too much trouble.
She enjoys the entertainment provided and always looks forward to forthcoming events.
We, as a family, feel very happy that she is in such a lovely environment and that she is always very happy and content when we visit.
Thank you for all your hard work.

Thank you for your feedback and I'm so pleased your Grandmother is enjoying her stay at Freeland. I will ensure I pass your comments to all the staff.

My stay with the care home is very nice. Everyone is very caring, clean and there is plenty of food. I am a short stay resident, although my stay is coming up to 6 weeks or more. Everyone makes you feel so welcome. I have to move shortly and I will miss everyone connected with Freeland House. My comments refer to all staff, carers, cleaners and all people involved.

Thank you very much for your review Barbara, I am pleased you are enjoying your stay with us. I will feedback your comments to the staff group.

Overall we are pleased with the quality of mum's care. Activities for residents and social events for residents have been impressive. There have been occasions of staff shortages, which is not ideal when staff on duty have been under pressure to provide full care. Care charges are very expensive.

My mother has been in Freeland House about 16 months. She is bedridden so has to rely on staff more. Frequently we find her buzzer/bell is out of reach. Also when food is brought to her, she is not sitting up enough to eat it, as it is at eye level. The staff are always very kind but rushed, as so much work for them to do. I do have concerns about the quality of the food, it's very poor 50% of the time. Much of it does not look home cooked and poor quality. More could be done to entertain people who are bedridden with dementia. If some of the entertainers visited individual rooms it would be stimulating.
