Thank you for looking after mum for the last two months. All the staff have a very difficult job looking after residents with dementia depending on the severity of it. Unfortunately, mum had a fall and sadly died. The staff at Freeland are extremely good. The matron and her team work well together.
My overall view is this is a very good nursing home with caring staff.

My grandmother is currently here for respite, for the second time.
The care she has received so far has been above and beyond. All her needs are always met, and nothing is ever too much trouble.
She enjoys the entertainment provided and always looks forward to forthcoming events.
We, as a family,
feel very happy that she is in such a lovely environment and that she is always very happy and content when we visit.
Thank you for all your hard work.

My stay with the care home is very nice. Everyone is very caring, clean and there is plenty of food. I am a short stay resident, although my stay is coming up to 6 weeks or more. Everyone makes you feel so welcome. I have to move shortly and I will miss everyone connected with Freeland House. My comments
refer to all staff, carers, cleaners and all people involved.

Overall we are pleased with the quality of mum's care. Activities for residents and social events for residents have been impressive. There have been occasions of staff shortages, which is not ideal when staff on duty have been under pressure to provide full care. Care charges are very expensive.

My mother has been in Freeland House about 16 months. She is bedridden so has to rely on staff more. Frequently we find her buzzer/bell is out of reach. Also when food is brought to her, she is not sitting up enough to eat it, as it is at eye level. The staff are always very kind but rushed, as so much
work for them to do. I do have concerns about the quality of the food, it's very poor 50% of the time. Much of it does not look home cooked and poor quality. More could be done to entertain people who are bedridden with dementia. If some of the entertainers visited individual rooms it would be stimulating.

Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear that we have not consistently reached your expectations related to the care provided.
As a company we actively seek feedback from our families and visitors, and any constructive criticism and feedback enables us to maintain and improve the services we provide. We operate on an “open door” policy and ensure any concerns raised, receive prompt attention.
Our chef is always happy to discuss any aspect of the food service and will on request provide individualised menus in addition to the choice offered.
The activity team offer one to one reminiscence and pamper sessions in rooms, and as of 10 August personalised entertainment sessions will also be on offer to clients in their rooms.

Current Review Score: 8.8 (8.842)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.842) out of 10 for Freeland House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.972 for Freeland House is calculated as follows: ( (70 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.972
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.87 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Freeland House is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 111 registered maximum number of service users is 22.2. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 22.2 = 0.27
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
