My mother has been extremely well cared for both before the lockdown and during and I have had no concerns regarding her caring and safety. The staff is always professional and attentive.

The Grange were brilliant when taking our dad in. It was an awful scenario of his admission into hospital, a stay of some eight weeks, then a premature discharge. They visited in hospital and secured his placement even without a second discharge date. We were so happy that he was able to go to The
Grange literally a couple of days before lockdown.

The staff at The Grange have always been friendly and helpful, and we feel that my father could not be in a safer place with his increasing level of infirmity. Although it is a very 'homely' environment, it is run with a reassuring level of professionalism, and we cannot fault the home.

I cannot praise 'The Grange' enough for their swift response at the beginning of the 'Covid-19' outbreak, doors being shut meant not being able to visit my Mother but the staff would 'facetime' me so that I could speak with her and see that she was alright. My Mother had a very nasty chest infection
and the staff kept me up to date with her progress and the reports from the Doctor. The staff have now made provision for me to visit at a safe distance which is very much appreciated as my Mother is 93 years old with vascular dementia. I feel that the manager and her team have made excellent decisions regarding this awful outbreak and I am happy for them to continue doing what they think is best! My sincere thanks are sent to all the wonderful staff at 'The Grange' for all the hard work that they have put into protecting the residents. Thank you once again.

The care home seems to have coped well in the covid-19 virus situation. Being allowed to see my mother weekly playing within the set rules. I cannot comment on the standard of food since March, due to not being able to check it out. Staff are always helpful with requirements. Also, thanks for the staffs
continued support. Thanks again.

As a family, we appreciated the empathy and kindness of all the staff, not just in giving care but also caring, always prepared to go the extra mile to help. A great and cohesive team delivering top class nursing care in a good atmosphere. I will forever appreciate how my husband was looked after during
the last week of his life.

My mother has been a resident at The Grange for the past year. She settled in well and that is entirely due to the kindness and expertise of the staff. The atmosphere is friendly and warm. Before the virus, the residents had regular entertainment, visits from choirs, birds of prey, even a Shetland pony!
I know that since the lockdown staff have continued to do their very best to give the residents a stimulating environment and reassurance. The standard of infection control at The Grange has been extremely high and relatives are now able to visit their relatives as long as guidelines are followed. During this unprecedented time its been a huge relief to know that my mother is safe and well cared for and has plenty of company and companionship as well as the highest standard of care from the lovely staff.

My husband received first-class care at the Grange so that the last 14 months of his life were very happy. Nothing was too much for the lovely staff. Right up to his last breath they were attentive and kind to both of us. I also run a singing club there and can see how content and well cared for the
residents are.

While my husband is well cared for and looked after, I would have liked him to have some physio included in the package, without having to pay extra, as I pay enough already and should come under the NHS funding. Also, his feet looked after as he is diabetic, under the NHS funding.

My father spent 8 months at The Grange Care Centre and in this time I had no concerns for his well-being.
All the staff at The Grange treated my father with dignity and respect at all times.
When I came to visit I was always welcomed and nothing was too much bother. I would highly recommend The Grange
to anybody who needed the best care.

After nursing my husband with Dementia for many years, when he fell and broke his hip, I could not have him back home. It was a very stressful time because I did not know where he would eventually end up. I was so grateful to have the opportunity for him to spend his last few months in The Grange. It
is such a kind, caring and friendly place. I spent so many hours there with my husband. I always felt very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble.

The Grange at Stanford-in-the-Vale always provides a very warm, happy and reassuring environment. It is totally professional and well-staffed. Over the past years, many relatives and friends have spent happy times within its walls. Our neighbour, who is now a resident, has been in other care homes.
She thinks The Grange is the best.

I am generally happy with dads care. There are some very good staff carers. I am not happy with the amount of agency carers. It is very clear as a visitor that regular staff spend most of their time showing agency carers the ropes. A lot of agency staff seem reluctant to interact with residents and
family members, and some appear to be lazy. However, a few agency staff are very good indeed.

My mother has been a resident for 2 and a half years and is very comfortable despite poor mobility. I have recently needed to move my aunt to The Grange, at relatively short notice. The management team were great at helping to arrange a suitable room and enabled me to set it up like her home. They
agreed to have her hearing dog and went out of their way to arrange for its care and safety. Finally, on arrival, my aunt was very distressed and confused but the staff were very kind and soon settled her in.

I have been visiting The Grange about every ten days for a year. I visit a resident with his wife, I believe The Grange to be very well run. The patients are listened to and treated with dignity. The staff are always welcoming. They make an effort to involve residents with a variety of activities. I
am told the food is usually good. I admire the flexibility of the management making residents feel as much as possible. The role of the owner as befriender is quite exceptional.

My Mother has been looked after by The Grange staff and managers since November 2014 after suffering a stroke in 2010. After being housebound at home with many "unknown carers" coming in daily to look after her, she was allocated a room at The Grange and has not looked back. She has many new friends
to talk to, activities to do and entertainment most days. She loves it.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.618)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.618) out of 10 for The Grange Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 15 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.743 for The Grange Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (138 Excellents x 5) + (29 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 175 Ratings = 4.743
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Grange Care Centre is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 49 registered maximum number of service users is 9.8, which has been reached with 15 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

As Home Manager at The Grange Care Centre, I am proud to lead such a caring and dedicated team. With over 20 years of experience in social care, and having grown up in a village myself, leading a care home rooted in village life feels genuinely special to me. I joined Forest Healthcare in February 2026, and my approach has always been the same: to ensure every person in our care is treated with the same warmth and dignity we would want for our own families.
