Hassingham House Care Centre

Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5
Our mum was a resident in Hassingham House Care Home for 41/2 years. For 31/2 of those mum was very settled there until the Manager retired and her Assistant Manager, shortly left after her. With the management changes sadly many permanent, experienced qualified staff left, this resulted in more agency
staff being employed to fill the void. The head chef also left the home & the food choices became very minimal. They relied primarily on pre-prepared packaged food which unfortunately didn't suit mum's Medical Conditions. She was often given the wrong food which also aggravated her condition. Due to this & other issues regarding severe safe guarding, unexplained bruising to mum's forehead & two conflicting explanations to bruising to mum's leg, general cleanliness of her room and bathroom (which were not addressed by the management). We had no other option than to move mum at very short notice to another Nursing Home in Norwich where she sadly passed away.
Reply from Melanie Wightman, Regional Operations Manager at Hassingham House Care CentreThank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry that your family's experience did not meet expectations. The concerns raised at the time were investigated in line with our safeguarding and governance procedures, and appropriate action was taken where improvements were identified. Since then, there have been significant changes within the home, including strengthened management oversight, improved staffing stability, and enhanced quality assurance processes to ensure high standards of safety, dignity, and care.

Following the passing of my husband, my daughter and I were invited at Cedar Care's Christmas celebrations. The lounge was beautifully adorned featuring xmas tree and tasteful festive decorations. From the moment we arrived, staff and management extended warmth, compassion and gracious hospitality,
continuing to provide comfort and support during a profoundly difficult time. Throughout and before the event, we were deeply impressed by the staff's genuine attentiveness to the residents, particularly their thoughtful encouragement of those who were hesitant to dine. Cedar Care exemplifies the true meaning of community and compassion. It is a place where residents and their families and treated with dignity, kindness and sincere sense of belonging.

Warren Lodge

My father moved into Warren Lodge (WL) in January 2024 after a year of living at home with a live-in carer. I can honestly say that the staff at Warren Lodge could not have been more welcoming and sensitive. We were able to decorate his room with his own furniture and pictures on the walls. He stayed
at WL for just under two years with gradually declining cognitive ability. Again the WL staff were about as caring and sensitive as they could be - they not-only treated my father well, but also welcomed any visitors that came to see him at pretty much any time of the day. They were sensitive to his medical needs; arranging chiropody, doctors appointments even mental health specialists as necessary. I mean no disrespect to his live-in carers but the care he received at WL was streets ahead of the care he received at home. One always worries about "putting one's father in a home", but I really have no regrets on the decision we made, to entrust our father's final days to WL

Honestly so happy and relieved we found dad a place at Bridgeside Lodge, you can feel the difference as soon as you walk through the doors. The warmth of the staff, starting with Fatma who models human-centred care, to every single person caring for my dad.
My dad said to me "if I have to spend the
rest of my days here, I'll be happy".
That's the only review or testimonial that matters. Thank you Fatma snd team.

From the moment we contacted Warren Lodge all staff were welcoming knowledgeable and helpful. After viewing some other care homes we knew that Warren Lodge was the right place for our mum.
It has a homely feeling and excellent staff who really care. The home is well managed and the care is modelled
from the top down. All staff are involved with each resident.
The activities are fantastic we go in and see my Mum smiling, joining in and thriving. There is always something to do
The care home has such a family feel, we always leave knowing my mum is safe; stimulated and respected.
My mum's overall well being has improved dramatically since moving to Warren Lodge and we are confident this was the best decision we could have made.
The team keep us up to date; communication is exceptional. Families are always welcome , without needing to arrange specific visits.
We highly recommend Warren Lodge and are grateful for their exceptional level of care.

The Poplars care home in Maidstone has looked after my 100 year old mother for the final 2 months of her life. I'm so glad she got a place here. The staff are so lovely and kind and caring, both towards the residents and towards their relatives. I felt totally supported by them, and I know Mum did
too. There are daily activities for those well enough to do them and even those who are bedridden can have their hair and nails done, and are visited by the activities organiser. Nothing is too much trouble for anybody here. I recommend The Poplars completely.

Warren Lodge is not just a care home, it's a home that cares.
It was an emotional time when our family had to make the choice to admit dad to a home. We were all very sceptical and wondered how my mum would cope, however Warren Lodge and all of the staff exceeded our expectations. Dad only resided for
a month and within that time the care and emotional support we received was excellent. We were lucky enough to spend New Years Eve with dad and enjoyed singing and dancing to the dementia disco. 3 days before dad sadly passed away all our family celebrated his 90th birthday. The staff put on an amazing buffet and decorated the dining room to accommodate everyone. This was above and beyond expectations. They also arranged for a mention on the local radio. I can't praise the staff enough for all of their support and care throughout dads time with them.

Honestly, we couldn't be happier with the care my fiancée's grandmother has received since moving into the care home. From day one, the staff have been incredibly caring, attentive and genuinely thoughtful in everything they do. We've seen a massive and really positive difference in her health and overall
wellbeing, which has been amazing to see. It's a huge relief knowing she's somewhere safe, warm, and well looked after. We'd absolutely recommend this place to anyone thinking about a care home for someone they love.

My mum was in The Grange, from Feb 2025 to Jan 2026 RIP
She recieved the best care anyone would want for a loved family member, with lewis body dimentia.
This awful diesease took mum away from us, but at The Grange they gave her such wonderful care 24 hours a day. The carers really were kind and considerate
and treated her with kindness and respect, they had a lot to deal with, but they took it in their stride and were so professional in every caring way they could be.
The Nurses are also fantastic, if you thought something was wrong or mum had a headache, I would always go to one of the nurses on duty and they would come and see us and help us in whatever way they could, and always with kindness and a smile, just what you needed when you thought something was wrong.
The chefs amazing, they took an intetest in the residents wellbeing.
The carers, nurses, and everyone on the floor are amazing! 5* without these people it wouldnt work so well, they all really care .

My sister has settled in really well at Woodlands Care Home. She is being extremely well cared for by the very kind, caring staff. Communication is excellent. I receive regular updates on her health and well-being, which is so important to me as I do not live locally. When visiting the care home, there
is always a warm welcome in a relaxed, homely atmosphere. There are plenty of activities which include music and singing, and occasional days out for those who are able to attend. I am extremely pleased with the exceptional service and care my sister receives at Woodlands.

I had to make a difficult decision for my mum due to myself becoming ill , Sadly she only stayed in Warren Lodge from August to November 2025 when she passed but I can honestly say even though it was hard to have her move out of her home I couldn't have asked for better care that the staff at Warren
Lodge gave to my mum, Goce the manager and all the staff was so understanding, kind and patient and also gave me a warm welcome whenever I visited , I couldn't have been happier to see my mum looking so good with the care they all provided to keep my mum looking clean and well presented, and how clean the home is and the meals looked very appetising , I thank you all so much for your dedication, I would recommend anyone to go to Warren Lodge and experience the wonderful care they provide and lovely atmosphere there, thank you all so very much .

getting respite. I have no hesitation if the need arises putting him into Hassingham again. Thank you to each and everyone of the staff.
