  • The Cedars Care Centre, Barnet
Welcome to Cedars Care Centre in Barnet. This large, detached, traditional home offers 24-hour specialist care to those over the age of 18. The home is fortunate to have a long-serving team of nursing and support staff that provide high-quality, person-centred care within a homely environment. While specialising in Dementia care, they offer long-term, palliative, respite and post-operative care.

The well-maintained home comprises 35 single bedrooms and 5 companion rooms for couples wishing to share, all with en-suite facilities. They encourage residents to furnish their new surroundings with familiar pieces of furniture and personal possessions to make them feel truly at home. They welcome and cater for live in small dogs and cats as well as welcoming visiting pets.
While bedrooms provide a tranquil area to rest and relax, the bright and attractive communal day rooms offer residents the opportunity to catch up with friends over a pot of tea, enjoy one of the guest entertainers or simply recline in front of their favourite films. The day rooms look out over beautifully landscaped gardens and French doors open onto the terrace allowing safe, ease of access.

At Cedars, the team encourage residents to take part in a range of engaging activities based on their lifestyle needs and preferences. Many of the activities take place within the home environment and include garden tea parties, barbecues and arts/crafts. Within the garden, there is a raised vegetable patch offering the opportunity to ‘grow your own’. They empower individuals to enjoy those everyday routines they cherish, whether that’s having a manicure, visiting the cinema or keeping up to date with their favourite football team. All are encouraged and available. Residents enjoy the wider community, with a thriving high street, independent shops and local park all within a short distance.

Cedars has provided our lovely mum with a warm, caring and very professional home. My sister and i visit regularly and we are always impressed by the kindness of staff, the effort made to keep residents engaged with daily activities & the lovely recent renovations.
Our mum feels very much at home-and
especially loves the arranged outings - particularly trips out for lunch! We are grateful for the considerate and professional nurses, providing
excellent care. Cedars gives us peace of mind-which is a wonderful thing!

I have been visiting a friend in Cedars twice a week for the past year. From the moment you arrive you are greeted by friendly, caring staff. All the carers, nurses, domestic, catering and maintenance staff are a delight and a credit to the care profession. They take time to talk, listen and understand
residents' individual needs. The activities are well thought out, interactive and fun. Residents are encouraged to join in. It would be wonderful if all care homes were of this standard. A big thank you to all the staff.

Following the passing of my husband, my daughter and I were invited at Cedar Care's Christmas celebrations. The lounge was beautifully adorned featuring xmas tree and tasteful festive decorations. From the moment we arrived, staff and management extended warmth, compassion and gracious hospitality,
continuing to provide comfort and support during a profoundly difficult time. Throughout and before the event, we were deeply impressed by the staff's genuine attentiveness to the residents, particularly their thoughtful encouragement of those who were hesitant to dine. Cedar Care exemplifies the true meaning of community and compassion. It is a place where residents and their families and treated with dignity, kindness and sincere sense of belonging.

The staff at Cedars are kind, patient and so caring. I can't thank them enough for how amazing they were with my mother. There were times when I would visit, and a carer would be sitting with her holding her hand. I visited other homes, but as soon as I entered Cedars, and felt the warmth, I knew
it was the right place for mum. It is bright, and welcoming, and has a beautiful garden, where we spent lots of time, in the summer.

Due to my father's health at 92 years of age, living at home was not an option. Cedars Care Centre, after reviewing, was our first choice. Dad has been very happy since arriving, and this has made life so much easier for his family. And would have no problem recommending this care home to anyone.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.947)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.947) out of 10 for The Cedars Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 59 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 58 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.947 for The Cedars Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (681 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 704 Ratings = 4.947
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Cedars Care Centre is based on 58 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 45 registered maximum number of service users is 9, which has been reached with 58 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
