Welcome to Cedars Care Centre in Barnet. This large, detached, traditional home offers 24-hour specialist care to those over the age of 18. The home is fortunate to have a long-serving team of nursing and support staff that provide high-quality, person-centred care within a homely environment. While specialising in Dementia care, they offer long-term, palliative, respite and post-operative care.

The well-maintained home comprises 35 single bedrooms and 5 companion rooms for couples wishing to share, all with en-suite facilities. They encourage residents to furnish their new surroundings with familiar pieces of furniture and personal possessions to make them feel truly at home. They welcome and cater for live in small dogs and cats as well as welcoming visiting pets.
While bedrooms provide a tranquil area to rest and relax, the bright and attractive communal day rooms offer residents the opportunity to catch up with friends over a pot of tea, enjoy one of the guest entertainers or simply recline in front of their favourite films. The day rooms look out over beautifully landscaped gardens and French doors open onto the terrace allowing safe, ease of access.

At Cedars, the team encourage residents to take part in a range of engaging activities based on their lifestyle needs and preferences. Many of the activities take place within the home environment and include garden tea parties, barbecues and arts/crafts. Within the garden, there is a raised vegetable patch offering the opportunity to ‘grow your own’. They empower individuals to enjoy those everyday routines they cherish, whether that’s having a manicure, visiting the cinema or keeping up to date with their favourite football team. All are encouraged and available. Residents enjoy the wider community, with a thriving high street, independent shops and local park all within a short distance.

My father has been a resident of The Cedars Care Home for approx a year. We are extremely happy with the care he receives, the staff are attentive, caring and engaging with the residents. All staff go above and beyond, they know exactly my father's likes and dislikes and are very good when he can become
difficult due to dementia. He has greatly improved physically and is more alert and communicative since being here. There are always fun activities for him to be involved in.

My mum has been at Cedars over a year now and initially she did not want to participate in any activities but now she gets up and dances, does quizzes and makes things.
The staff go over and above to include her in everything and if she gets distressed they are always there to talk to her and comfort
her.

My father has been a resident at Cedars Care Centre for 12 months. The care and support that he gets is absolutely brilliant. The nurses and the carers are all so kind and caring. Nothing is a problem for them! Everyday there is some kind of entertainment for the residents - a quiz or some live music
or chair exercises. Dad enjoys the monthly trips out to various places - a museum or the park for a coffee. The outdoor facilities are very good and beautifully kept. My dad is so well looked after but I also feel that we, his family, are so well cared for.

Cedars has provided our lovely mum with a warm, caring and very professional home. My sister and i visit regularly and we are always impressed by the kindness of staff, the effort made to keep residents engaged with daily activities & the lovely recent renovations.
Our mum feels very much at home-and
especially loves the arranged outings - particularly trips out for lunch! We are grateful for the considerate and professional nurses, providing
excellent care. Cedars gives us peace of mind-which is a wonderful thing!

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.953)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.953) out of 10 for The Cedars Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 70 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 69 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.953 for The Cedars Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (812 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 836 Ratings = 4.953
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Cedars Care Centre is based on 69 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 45 registered maximum number of service users is 9, which has been reached with 69 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
