Foreign staff should have at least conversational English. I did not understand them, and they did not me, and there was a high percentage of foreign staff. Staff wear different coloured shirts for the jobs they do, but a new resident does not know what the colours mean. There should be a chart on display
so that a new resident knows who they are speaking to. When I came in on March the 3rd I asked for an extra pillow for my bed. I did not get one and gave up asking after a week. I also asked for a hand towel as the one supplied was a towel sheet far to large for me, I never got one. The times for meals was all over the place, sometimes early, sometimes late. In early hours of the morning, the sounds of laughter came from the dining area was very loud, as though they were having a party. This happened every night. They had no thought for residents trying to sleep. One night, a member of staff blew a whistle outside my bedroom door and continued down the corridor, still blowing in the early morning hours. They thought it was funny to upset the residents. I was supposed to have some physio, but did not receive any.
Reply from Geoffrey Odur, Operations Manager at Forest Care Village Elstree & BorehamwoodWe are sorry your stay did not fully meet your expectations, Stanley. We accept that we could do more to help new residents understand our team structure on arrival, and we will look at how we communicate this. We have taken your comments about noise during the night seriously and have spoken with the night team. We hope there were aspects of your stay that you valued, and we wish you well.

Generally, the staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. Definitely makes me feel safe. Feeling safe was the most important thing for me, having never been in this situation before.

I've now lived at Forest Care Village for over 12 years, I feel very much included in the home. We have very good management. All the staff are very kind and caring to me, and nothing is too much trouble for them. They also support me and give me reassurance when I'm feeling blue.

I have lived at Forest Care Village for 16 years and it truly feels like home. The activities are enjoyable and I love being involved with the club and the local community. The physiotherapy team is very good and very supportive.
The food and meals are good, with a noticeable improvement since the
new catering service started. The staff are kind and caring, and the cleaners are amazing, everything is always kept very clean.
Everyone here feels like a friend, and there is a real sense of community. I am very happy living at Forest Care Village.

Very impressed with the care Mum is receiving, from moving in to settling her in, the staff have been amazing. Mum has started to look healthier already. Mum has a gluten free diet, and the staff and chefs have been excellent at accommodating her needs.
Two members of staff in particular have been
so good with Mum, we feel worry free and know she is in good hands.
