Poplar nursing home are warm, attentive, and genuinely compassionate, always going above and beyond to ensure my dad feels comfortable, safe, and valued.
The level of care provided is truly outstanding. Every member of staff treats residents with dignity and kindness, and it's clear they take great
pride in what they do. Nothing ever feels like too much trouble, and they are always happy to offer reassurance and support, not just to the residents but to family members as well.

We've been really pleased with the care our father-in-law has received since moving in. He settled in much quicker than we expected, which is a real testament to the welcoming and supportive environment. The staff have been kind, attentive, and patient with him, taking the time to understand his needs
and make him feel comfortable. It's reassuring to see him happy and well looked after. Thank you to the whole team for the care and compassion you show every day.

My wife was admitted for assessent of her mental (she has alzheimers) and physical needs. The staff, everyone of them, are friendly, caring and very professional. Their care plan, consisting of thirty pages, is very impressive and the staff do everything in accordance with that plan.

The Poplars care home in Maidstone has looked after my 100 year old mother for the final 2 months of her life. I'm so glad she got a place here. The staff are so lovely and kind and caring, both towards the residents and towards their relatives. I felt totally supported by them, and I know Mum did
too. There are daily activities for those well enough to do them and even those who are bedridden can have their hair and nails done, and are visited by the activities organiser. Nothing is too much trouble for anybody here. I recommend The Poplars completely.

Mum was admitted to the Poplars Care Centre following a short spell in hospital after a mild stroke for continuing healthcare. I visit every day and the staff always make me feel very welcome. Mum needs a high level of care and the staff attend to her needs in a caring and friendly manor making her
as comfortable as possible. Her room is comfortable and is always clean. Facilities are good and although mum is unable to participate fully. There is a good social atmosphere among the staff and residents. This is our first experience of a care home and we have been pleased with how mum is being cared for.

Nurses and staff at Poplars are very good & kind to my sister, who has severe communication difficulties. She is non verbal and now non mobile, hoisting, wheelchair and all her personal care. They have a good understanding of her needs and vulnerabilities. I am pleased with the continuity of her carers
- she recognises their familiar faces. The home is always clean & smells nice, and there are cheerful decorations up. I am very satisfied with the care and safety here.

This care home is absolutely amazing. My mum had given up and was very reluctant to integrate with other residents. She was admitted with extreme open leg wounds that hadn't shown signs of healing whilst she had spent 2 months in hospital. On arrival her wounds were inspected/swabbed only to find
both legs were infected. The nurse, who is the most awesome nurse, set a treatment plan deciding what bandages, how often to change them and her knowledgeable and positivity was very reassuring. She also spent hours getting mums feet back to good health due to shedding skin after being neglected in hospital. She has been an extraordinary influence on my mums physical and mental recovery which has been nothing short of a miracle. EVERY member of staff has contributed to improving her wellbeing with their genuine love, care and patience. Mums legs are healing, she is now enjoying good times in the lounge with the other residents. Thank you to all you precious angels at Poplars.

This is the 1st encounter of a care home I have had so I was not sure what to expect. It became clear from early on that the staff make the home. There has been a low turnover of the care flow which is wonderful. The continuity for both my mother who has dementia and for me and my family cannot be underestimated
. The home has a strong leadership flow and continue to make improvements.

We found the staff were (are) all so helpful and also cheerful. Very polite, it is a pleasure to see them all, knowing they give their all 100% in sometimes difficult circumstances. I would certainly recommend The Poplars Care Home and if I am unfortunate enough to need care I hope I would find a home

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.452)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.452) out of 10 for The Poplars Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 36 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 34 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.452 for The Poplars Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (288 Excellents x 5) + (96 Goods x 4) + (14 Satisfactorys x 3) + (6 Poors x 2) + (23 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 427 Ratings = 4.452
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Poplars Care Centre is based on 34 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 71 registered maximum number of service users is 14.2, which has been reached with 34 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
