My mum had dementia. Whenever I visited her at the home she always appeared happy and well looked after. She took part in activities and was well liked. Sadly she passed away last Thursday. My mum had dementia. Whenever I visited her at the home she always appeared happy and well looked after. She took part in activities and was well liked. Sadly she passed away last Thursday. My dad, sister and I were with her through those last hours and we could not have coped without the support and care of the staff on duty that night, Indeed the care manager gave up her night to be there for my mum and it was an enormous comfort to her.
My dad has been helping as a volunteer for some time now and he will continue with this, as the staff at The Meadows have become like extended family to him, and I have been enormously touched by the genuine affection they have shown for my dad over the years and by the support they have shown him through this awful time.
I can't praise The Meadows enough it always looks clean and I am always made welcome. Staff are first class to the residents. Excellent activities co-ordinator and excellent group activities.

My mother was very frail and in need of 24 hr. nursing care when she was admitted to The Meadows. The staff immediately picked up on her nursing and emotional needs. She had advanced dementia and took her into group activities so that she could watch others and feel included with them. The staff also closely monitored any signs of infections or she is involved the GP and informing us of any action that was necessary. They offered excellent end of life care and were a great source of comfort and support. Three staff even came over to Oxford for her funeral, showing incredible commitment.

The staff were also quick to see when my wife needed extra medical attention. The staff were very friendly and cheerful and helped in making her last few months of my wife's life as bright as possible. I was made very welcome when visiting my wife.
I have noted and commented on the loss of clothes. The lack of loss clothes. The lack of hand wipes not being offered to residents before meals particularly to those who cannot help themselves. Boredom would seem to be a problem.

I am very sorry to hear that you have experienced problems lately with missing laundry. Unfortunately some of the clothes do not have labels and therefore sometimes it’s hard to find their owners. Next time you visit, I will take you to the laundry and we can have a look at the unclaimed items....

Next time you visit, I will take you to the laundry and we can have a look at the unclaimed items. I have mentioned the wet wipes and we will make sure that they are readily available at meal times. I have also discussed the boredom issue and will sit down with our Activities Coordinator to come up with a plan to see how we can include your wife more in the activities. It has been a difficult time as my friend has been unwell. The home has been a great support in sorting out his finances and understanding his complex needs. My friend is treated with dignity and is always looked after. The staff are always pleasant and cheerful.

The care and love for my father has been exceptional. He has been kept clean, fed , warm and attended to at all times. The home is bright and clean, the staff are warm and welcoming - we will miss our visits.

Swapna became Home Manager at The Meadows in August 2026, bringing extensive nursing and leadership experience to her role. She began her nursing career in 2005 after completing her Degree in Nursing, gaining broad experience across a range of clinical settings before going on to work as a nurse lecturer in India and Malaysia.
Since relocating to the UK in 2012, Swapna has focused primarily on elderly care, progressing through a number of senior roles including Senior Nurse, Deputy Manager and Head of Care at The Meadows. She is passionate about delivering high-quality, person-centred care and supporting teams to provide compassionate care while creating a positive and supportive environment for residents and colleagues.
Swapna is proud to be part of The Meadows and is looking forward to continuing to build on the home’s compassionate approach, ensuring residents feel valued, respected and well supported. She is also committed to developing a strong, high-performing team where colleagues feel empowered to provide the best possible care.
Outside of work, Swapna enjoys reading, cooking, gardening and travelling.
