My mum was independent and did not want to leave her home despite numerous falls. Therefore in July 2024 it was a very difficult decision for her to go into Leighton House. In reality she never truly settled but she would not have settled anywhere. However the staff at Leighton House did all they could
for her - their kindness, patience, reassurance, dedication and love was clearly evident. Not only were they supportive to mum but also to me. I found the process of moving mum into a home very stressful but they were always there to re-assure me and give me a hug if I needed it. I visited often and no matter their job all staff would say hello and I felt part of the "family". It is a welcoming feeling when you go there which is so important as a home with dementia residents can feel daunting. My mum's behaviour was challenging at times but they kept me informed and helped me to deal with it. Sadly she died recently but it was very dignified and I will always be grateful.
Reply from Samir Patel, Director at Leighton House Private Nursing HomeWe are deeply sorry for your loss and thank you for your kind review - it was a privilege to care for your mother and support you both. We are so glad you felt part of the Leighton House family and I will ensure your heartfelt gratitude is shared with the whole team.

Leighton House has continued its loving care for my husband Jon, who has lately had a severe chest infection, raised by Taiek, who insisted he went to the hospital. There, he was put onto two types of antibiotics and oxygen. So there was a definite need for him to be there. Since coming home, they are
slowly but surely rehabilitating him, with care and attention. To see our Jon in this declining state from Alzheimer's is distressing for us, but it's softened by the care he has here.
Reply from Samir Patel, Director at Leighton House Private Nursing HomeThank you for taking the time to leave us a review - we are so glad Tarek's swift action helped your husband and that his recovery is progressing well. Providing your family with comfort during this difficult journey is our priority, and we really appreciate your feedback.

My mum was a resident of a different care home prior to coming to Leighton House. Moving her was a difficult decision in case it stressed her even more, but as a family we were so glad that we did! The difference in care quality of support and the range of activities offered to her in Leighton House
was instantly noticeable and impactful. The level of communication between the home and us, the family, was excellent with the app easily accessible and regularly updated. We felt very confident and reassured that Mum's dementia needs were understood and being met and were very appreciative of the care given to her.
Reply from Samir Patel, Director at Leighton House Private Nursing HomeThank you for leaving us such a positive review! We're so pleased your mum's move to Leighton House brought peace of mind and a noticeable uplift in her care and wellbeing. Our team is dedicated to providing compassionate, personalised support every day, and it's wonderful to know that's been felt by your whole family.

I've had such a wonderful experience with the dads nursing home. The staff here have been incredibly kind and attentive, making sure he feels comfortable and well cared for every single day. What stands out most is how they've kept him so healthy and happy. The compassion, kindness and professionalism

Mum is very happy at Leighton House, she is well cared for and all her needs are met. She is treated with dignity and encouraged to have as much independence as possible, giving her as much privacy as possible while delivering her care. It is all the staff that make the difference and as far as I can
see all the residents receive the same care and respect. The result is a lovely atmosphere, a happy and caring home. I never leave a visit to Leighton House with any worry that Mum is not in the best place for her.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.924)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.924) out of 10 for Leighton House Private Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 21 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.924 for Leighton House Private Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (232 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 251 Ratings = 4.924
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Leighton House Private Nursing Home is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 27 registered maximum number of service users is 5.4, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
