Before admission, a professional team member will assess to understand the support and care your loved one requires within the home. A personalised and tailored care plan will be created and monitored daily using our electronic care system.

But since a new experienced manager was appointed in September 2024 there have been many improvements to the care and quality of life for the residents. Staffing levels have been good, with many long term staff who provide excellent and compassionate care to the residents. The home has a very warm and happy feeling and I'm happy with Service provided.

We have many different personalities in Moorhouse, they all make up our Moorhouse family. We listen to our resident's wishes and encourage all of our residents to have a meaningful life, in a multitude of ways. I have seen your mum up dancing (and I have the photos!). When the singer began to sing a particular song with a small amount of encouragement we had her up on her feet dancing with a great big smile on her face. Our food is home cooked and we always involve the residents and their likes and dislikes in the menu. We use local shops and suppliers as Ashberry Health Care's ethos is to keep our care homes in the centre of our community by engaging with and supporting our local shops and businesses. The team are very committed to providing the best person-centred care they possibly can, by really getting to know our residents they can encourage and initiate conversations and can prompt past memories and bring back happy times and experiences. The team have had many types of dementia training, we are collaborating with many companies and we continue to seek new training to improve our skillset. We are focused on improving ourselves individually and as a team. We have recently bought new garden furniture and the residents love sitting out when the weather permits it. They have also planted seeds that are growing in our greenhouse, waiting to be planted out. Many thanks.

The home is cheerful and friendly at any time of the day or night. The team have taken on new training and continue to grow in their knowledge and skillset, which in turn constantly improves their performance. Many of the staff go the extra mile and bring small gifts for residents, and escort them on their days off work. They are all committed to ensuring our residents live a meaningful life at Moorhouse. Our activities are constantly changing and growing. At present our residents are enjoying time in the garden and have planted fruit trees and seeds for our extensive flower borders. We put the residents in the heart of our decision-making at Moorhouse, and encourage all residents to lead an active life, supported by the team. Our chefs make homemade meals, snacks and offer a wide choice through the day and night, the cakes and puddings are second to none! My mum had a fall and went to hospital. She was assessed and it was decided she was not safe to move back into the community. Moorhouse Nursing Home was brilliant. We managed to move Mum into one of their garden rooms. All the staff were kind and helpful and we can visit Mum whenever we like. The food is delicious and Mum has the freedom to walk around as she wishes and go into the garden whenever she wants. The staff are very patient with her. It is a huge relief to all the family that she is safe and being well cared for.

Home Manager Steve has spent over 30 years in leadership roles, beginning his career in hospitality where he reached Executive Head Chef level in corporate catering. He later moved into health and social care, drawn to the care floor after time spent interacting with residents in care home kitchens, and has since built extensive experience across residential, nursing and dementia care.
Steve is passionate about helping residents maintain their strength, confidence and independence, and is a qualified Personal Trainer and registered Dementia Care Mapper.
