The Weir Nursing Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mother was admitted to the Weir Nursing Home in May 2026; she was there for palliative care as she was suffering from an aggressive cancer of the bowel. From the first day she arrived she was given excellent care and support; she was checked on regularly and the outstanding staff took time to chat
and ask her about her family which she was very proud of. The quality of care and support was excellent. She was allocated a beautiful room elegantly decorated with a private en-suit which was really important to her as her condition required easy access. The facilities throughout we spotless and furnished like a home.
She particularly enjoyed going to the communal lounge where often there was live music to which she sang along. Other things that gave her pleasure was having her hair done so she looked smart. It was so important to many of the residents to look well presented and the friendly lovely staff understand this and take the time to ensure residents are happy. Thank you The Weir
Reply from Amy Mullen, Home Manager at The Weir Nursing HomeThank you for your kind and heartfelt words, mum was only with us for a short time but she most definitely made an impact on us all. I will be sure to share your comments with the staff as I know they will truly appreciate the feedback.

My father was only there for 5 weeks. He passed away on the 2nd June, he has numerous illnesses. But I can honestly say the manager was so caring, thoughtful, and very compassionate. Couldnt do enough for us, Dad passed peacefully. His favourite song was being played. The staff were very knowing he
had passed and were very compassionate. Manager helpful, made sure we were okay.

Sally and the team are informative, kind and caring about their residents. Facilities especially the food are excellent. When dad moved to Engelberg we thought he may not reach his 90th birthday as he had not been stimulated at the previous home. Now he looks great and was made to feel very special
on his 90th ! It's certainly a home I do not mind visiting.

My mother has been a resident at Brockworth since the end of March 2026, she has settled in very well, and this is down to the care staff, all of them are sociable, amicable and engaging with all of the residents.
The home is always clean, tidy, and every member of staff from the manager to the cleaner
are friendly, and willing to make time for you.
There are several care staff members who have taken my mother under their wing, and have made her stay at Brockworth much more engaging though all of the various events and activities that are held at the home.
Ever since we visited the home to see if it was suitable for Mother's needs we have nothing but great service.
The food is always wholesome and there is plenty to go around. The home actively encourages visitors to spend quality time with their loved ones, and makes any visit to your loved one, enjoyable.
Reply from Sinead Blick, Home Manager at Brockworth House Nursing & Dementia HomeMany thanks for your kind words, we are delighted your mother has settled in here so well and that you feel she is well cared for. The whole team at Brockworth take great pride in working hard to ensure residents and families feel welcome, settled and truly part of the home. Your feedback is greatly appreciated by us all.

My mother has been resident for over four years and at all times we have found the staff friendly, good humoured and caring. This means our mother is treated with dignity and consideration as her dementia has worsened, in particular the food served is always appropriate for each resident and of high
quality. We recently had a 96th birthday party at Blaenos and the food served was excellent and the way the staff provided for us was outstanding. Thank you.

My mother recently celebrated her 96th birthday and we wanted to have a family meal with her. The staff could not have been more accommodating - Eifionydd and Dawn in particular. We had a lovely afternoon with my mother, the food was delicious, the room was beautifully decorated and my mother and ourselves
were treated like royalty.
Every time I visit my mother, the staff are all very friendly and helpful. It's reassuring for me to see that they always treat my mother with the utmost respect and dignity. The food is always delicious with every resident's individual needs catered for, and the activities are well thought out, interesting and appropriate.

What a wonderful welcome at Moorhouse!
Julie and her team are quite the friendliest people we have met. Nothing is to much trouble as they care for mum. She even had a hairdresser appointment on her first afternoon!
The home is just that....a home. It feels relaxed and happy and safe. Just like home
does.
The property is beautifully looked after and the garden is gorgeous. The other residents are welcoming and cheery, making mum feel very well received.
Mums care is considered at every level and Julie in particular really knows mums details and needs.
As visitors we are really embraced by the same kindness. The staff know our names and a cup of tea is never far away!
There is a real feeling of kindness and compassion, which is the thing we were most hoping for. Thankyou moorhouse.

My of aunt 98 years was admitted into Holmer Court on 28th april and was immediately made to comfortable. All the staff were kind and supportive and within two days was settled in and enjoying the attention and surroundings. The management helped deal with all her transfer and medical needs in an efficient
manner which was a great relief and made me feel confident that she was being very well looked after. On visiting i was greeted my the the staff who are very friendly and helpful. My aunt is getting involved with the entertainment and enjoys her games of scrabble and watching tv with subtitles as she is without hearing. The staff are very patient and communicate with a dry wipe board. All in all she feels relaxed and well cared for.

My mum was in Broomy Hill nursing home for nearly 3 years. This was after a difficult time for us, my mum had been admitted to another care home who advertise specialist care for dementia, which was not the case ! Thank goodness for Broomy Hill they gave my mum the care she needed, they supported the
family during challenging times. The care and support was outstanding, the staff are fantastic, they see you as a family suffering whilst the resident is being treated with respect and kindness throughout the period they are at Broomy Hill. I have great admiration for all the staff and I can't thank them for the care they gave mum and the support they gave our family. Truly remarkable people ! Thank You

My mum was looked after at Holmer Court for just over 3 years. I cannot rate it highly enough. I found all the staff to be kind and caring, often going above and beyond. Peace of mind in these circumstances cannot be underestimated. It is such a big decision to make when it comes to entrusting the
care of your most loved ones. I never doubted the care that she was getting and you can't put a price on that.

There is a special place in my heart for Claire, the manager, who was always there when I needed her. She is incredibly professional and negotiated brilliantly on my behalf during difficult circumstances. It is very clear that all members of the team are valued highly by the management and there is a great emphasis on staff well-being and fun. I know how busy Claire is, and yet she would make time for me at the drop of a hat. She will never know how much her kindness meant to me. I will be eternally grateful.

Don't take my word, arrange a guided tour and check (especially):
Impressive levels of staffing: ever on the move, attending - usually within seconds - to patients' needs, cheerfully and sympathetically.
Imaginative group activities including live animals
Major investments ensuring comprehensive
security (alarm systems, keypad door locks, tablet communications), risk-free movement of patients, TVs in all communal areas.
Spacious individual bedrooms with full toilet facilities.
Comfortable seating throughout, all in good repair.
Excellent in-house cooked meals together with equally satisfying baked desserts.
There's more but I've run out of space
