My brother was cared for during end of life as an advanced cancer patient. Staff provided exceptional care in challenging circumstances and gave my brother dignity and comfort in his last days. The care provided extended to visiting family who were kept well informed and treated with great kindness.

Absolutely disgusting behaviour from staff members..really rude...and the way they run the place.. first off all to be left in urine all day and they can't remember if they changed the service user or not is not acceptable. The fact that this care home has good reviews is a load of rubbish this service
user has been here less that 3 weeks and had so many issues please do not send your family members here nobody deserves to be treated like this no one goes and speaks or interacts with them they just left in the room it's so sad something needs to be done it's not acceptable safe garding is a issue and believe me we won't let it slide its out loved one that need the care so why isn't it provided at a good level. Totally disappointed
Reply from Jessica Bridgewater, Manager at Allt Y Mynydd Nursing Home

As a care home we welcome all feedback, both positive and negative, with the aim of continually improving our service to our residents. Having read your comments (and having had a follow up telephone conversation with yourself) it is obvious that you have genuine concerns of the level of care you feel has been afforded to your loved one.We always aim to provide excellent care for our residents and it is extremely disappointing to hear that you do not believe this to be the case. Many of our reviews are positive about our approach to care, however, I recognise that we must not be complacent. With that in mind, I fully appreciate you are concerned and will personally look into each individual issue you have raised as a priority. I can guarantee that a full and thorough investigation will be held and I will personally feedback the findings and subsequent outcome as is necessary.

Overall very good but the food she finds unappetising and despite frequent requests for small portions she is still given overwhelming portions. Sandwiches are often thick white bread with crusts and no extras like crisps, mayo and salad etc. The staff are wonderfully kind and caring.
Reply from Jessica Bridgewater, Manager at Allt Y Mynydd Nursing Home

Thank you very much for this constructive feedback. I will address these matters with the kitchen and hope that you and your mum will see an improvement. Please do not hesitate to come and see me if you wish to discuss this in further detail. I will be ensure to pass on your kind words to the staff regarding how caring and kind they are. Thank you again for taking the time to provide us with this valuable feedback.

Mum suffers from dementia and the team at Allt Y Mynnydd has been exceptional in settling her into her environment. The care staff also make an effort to keep me updated when I visit. Letting me know whether she ate in the restaurant or in her room etc. I'm confident that Mum's needs are being met.

I can't thank the staff enough for caring for my mum in the last few weeks of her life. Allt Y Mynydd Nursing Home provided excellent palliative care when we really needed it. The nurses, carers, cooks, cleaners and administrative staff were all excellent, so caring and very professional. The room was
bright, clean and had a lovely view for my mum. Liaison with the local doctor's surgery was wonderful. The nursing home is in a beautiful setting, perched high in the beautiful hills with views of the forest and valley.

I am 87 years old, I cannot stand or walk anymore. I have only been a resident here since January 2024, but I feel happy and 'at home'. The care here is excellent, I have to be hoisted everywhere, yet I never feel a burden, I am always met with kindness and humour, which I love. Nothing is too much
trouble, they cater to my every need, which includes a diet, as the food here is too good and very high in calories! I think I am going to enjoy living here.

Every time I visit, my mother is always clean and comfortable. Her room is always clean and tidy. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Welshing speaking staff, which is important to us, work here. The food is lovely and always hot. I cannot fault my mother's care. The staff are kind and patient.
I am made to feel welcome whatever time I call.

A very comfortable and warm building set in beautiful grounds with a very pleasant, open aspect.
This is a very welcoming atmosphere provided by the friendly staff who are always on hand to help the residents or answer questions from relatives.
Plenty of activities for the residents and we relatives

My mother has been a resident at Allt Y Mynydd Nursing Home for a number of years and my sister and I visit her often completely unannounced and always find our mum well dressed and clean. The staff are very caring towards her and always make us feel welcome. My only negative about Allt Y Mynydd Nursing
Home is the fact that the owners do not employ local builders to carry out essential building work. The main entrance conservatory has been ongoing for two years and is still far from being completed.

We are invited in to Allt-y-Mynydd Nursing Home quite regularly to take a service there with the residents. Staff are also present. In fact, not only do we take a service in the main area with a good number of residents but we are invited upstairs as well so that other, more immobile residents, can
also benefit from having a service together.
Everything is always well prepared for us, staff are welcoming and always supporting residents. They provide us too with a cup of tea/coffee and biscuits at the end and give us a good opportunity to meet and speak to residents and get to know them on a more personal level. This is always a delightful experience and we are sure that it is a great opportunity for residents to be truly valued. They appear to enjoy the whole experience as it gives them a sense of community spirit. Staff are always professional, always mindful of any needs, outgoing and obviously display a sense of enthusiasm and fulfilment in their work. We enjoy being there.

I cannot thank the staff in Allt Y Mynydd enough for the care they provide for mum who has been a dementia resident here for 3 years. Mum has gone from one loving home to another, they are like a little family here where all staff show care and empathy towards the residents.
Due to covid restrictions,
I’m unable to visit mum as much as I’d like but I’m kept updated of mum's well-being regularly. I highly recommend Allt Y Mynydd Nursing Home and more so the staff, who do an amazing job. Thank you all.

Current Review Score: 9.0 (9.002)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (9.002) out of 10 for Allt Y Mynydd Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.1 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.102 for Allt Y Mynydd Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (59 Excellents x 5) + (49 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (13 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 127 Ratings = 4.102
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Allt Y Mynydd Nursing Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 44 registered maximum number of service users is 8.8, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
