Our father stayed at Clifden House for two weeks respite care. The service we received as a family was excellent and the support Dad received was first class. You know when you are entering it's and excellent home because guests and staff are genuinely smiling.
The care received by the residents at Clifden House is exemplary. It is evident that all staff are kind, patient and dedicated to providing the best possible care to their residents. Their jobs are difficult, tiring and sometimes they might be insulted and even assaulted by the residents as a result of the unpredictable nature of dementia and Alzheimer's disease. I am relieved and comforted that they are looking after my husband.
We had been recommended Clifden House for my 91 year old mum mainly due to the caring staff and quality of food. In the last month staff have treated mum with the upmost respect and dignity. The activities that are offered are engaging, varied and achievable for my mum. The severity of some of the residents can be unsettling but the way staff treat them is admirable, patient, caring and very kind.
My father came for a holiday while I went away. All in all he does seem to have enjoyed it. I was happy that he was really well cared for and went away without having to worry about him.
Mum has been in Clifden House for 6yrs with deteriorating dementia. She has been well cared for and is treated with love and respect. Although she speaks little now the staff always ensure her needs are catered for. Mum is fed by staff and she is difficult to feed only accepting a few teaspoonfuls.
My mum was very well looked after during a 6 week emergency respite care stay. Staff were helpful, friendly & professional and mum seemed happy and settled. There was a good range of entertainment to keep her occupied and her personal care was well done.
My mum has only been in the centre since Nov 24. This is the first time I have done a review. So not sure when the next review is due. My mum is treated with dignity and the staff are aware of her dementia as all the people that are in there have dementia as well. She is very happy there.
Thank you for taking the time to fill in a review card, which means that we can understand more fully your experience of the home. This is separate from the regular care reviews that allow family and representatives to join with us in making the best decisions for vulnerable adults in our care. We are very glad to hear that she is happy at Clifden House.
I have known my friend for over 35 years, he gets out and about from time to time to come and visit me at my place of employment as he can need help with technology. The home is a lovely place with a nice environment and an always welcoming. People are always very friendly when greeting you into the house when visiting and very helpful. And my friend always says how the house feels like a home from home.
Thank you for your feedback. We never get tired of hearing Clifden House described as a 'home from home'. That is exactly what we are setting out to achieve for your friend and all our residents.
Clifden was like one big happy family, she was happy, at peace with where she was and extremely well cared for.
A change of clothes every day, kept clean and hair washed she loved it. Food was amazing as I fed her, fish pie, roast dinners wonderful desserts couldn't have asked for more.
On arrival I was always greeted with a smile with offer of tea or coffee, I would recommend Clifden House to anyone, we both felt so lucky to be cared for there where staff were always friendly.
Thank you for your feedback. 'One big happy family' is exactly what we are aiming for, as that is anyone's dream for the home in which they live, whether they are ageing and vulnerable, or in the peak of fitness and health. It is exactly what we all deserve!
I visit Clifden House Dementia Centre at least 2 times per week and have done so for a few months & have always found the staff very helpful, and if asking a question, I reference my friend, always obliging, always very clean, and my friend always reacts well with the staff. Overall, a very good care home.
Thank you for your feedback and recommendation. Your first person experience is key to truly seeing how we can make a difference in caring for vulnerable individuals with dementia.
Staff are always very friendly and welcoming. We use Clifden House regularly for respite for my mother and she is always well cared for. The manager is excellent, very approachable and accommodating.
Thank you for your feedback. I am glad we are meeting your expectations for your mother's care.
My mother has now been a resident of Clifden House Dementia care for over 7 years now. She is 95 years old this coming birthday and she is not an easy resident to deal with. Dementia is sadly a very complex and complicated condition which I think the time element of her residency speaks volumes regarding the type of care and ongoing dedication she has received whilst at Clifden. Without the dedication and care from all the staff at Clifden my mother would not be here today, of this fact I am certain. Thank you to all at Clifden house for all you do and all your kindness and care.
Many thanks for this thoughtful response. It is of great benefit to all parties - carers, families, management and the resident themselves, that we recognise how 'complex and complicated' this condition and its impact can be. There are no easy solutions, but there is a pathway still to a life well lived with this condition, and we very much appreciate your kind words.
In terms of the care my mother receives, I have absolutely no complaints. The staff are very caring towards their residents and they always know exactly where I will find mum when I turn up. Mum's content and happily settled.
Thank you for your feedback.Fee levels reflect most importantly the commitment to our team at Clifden House as well as, of course, the cost of utilities and everyday items that affect us all. However, we have been able to withstand these increases for a number of years through advance preparation...
Plenty of food & hot/cold drinks available for residents , releatives are welcome & well looked after, lots of entertainment. All Medical needs are tacken care of by professionally trained staff.
Thank you for your feedback. It is really useful to have an overview such as yours, showing all the different areas of importance that come together to make a home truly operate for the benefit of its residents.
Cliffden House is an exceptional dementia care home that looked after my Dad in his final months with warmth, compassion, and dignity. From the moment he arrived, the staff made us feel at home. It's more than a care home-it feels like family. The atmosphere is calm, welcoming, and full of kindness. The staff are attentive and genuinely caring, not only toward their residents but also to visiting family members. They took the time to understand Dad's needs and made him feel safe, valued, and loved. Every visit felt like coming home, not to a clinical setting, but to a place filled with warmth and support. They made a difficult time so much more bearable by surrounding us with care and understanding. We always felt included and reassured, knowing Dad was in such good hands. I'll forever be grateful for the compassion and dedication shown by everyone at Cliffden House. Their care extended beyond professionalism-it was heartfelt and personal. I can't recommend highly enough.
Thank you so much for your response. Once again I am left speechless by the kindness of your comments and be assured I will pass on your words to each member of the team at the home.Very best wishes.
When I arrive I am offered a tea or coffee and sometimes a biscuit!
Your feedback is much appreciated. We have a rolling programme of refurbishment that has seen all the electrical systems throughout the building upgraded to 2025 regulations and major improvements to communal bathrooms and gardens in the past six months. We have a superb buildings manager to keep an eye on decor, so you'll no doubt see that facelift imminently!Thank you once again.
My mum has been in Clifden House Dementia Care Centre for a year now and I am extremely happy with the care she is receiving. The staff are all very caring, friendly and professional, they show great kindness and affection for mum, making her feel secure and well looked after. They are great at letting me know if there are any issues and will take the time to talk to me about how mum is getting on. This is really important to me as I live abroad so communication with the team gives me great piece of mind. Whenever I go to visit mum I can see she is well looked after and her room is always clean and tidy. There is a good range of activities and supports provided for the residents - mum particularly likes the singers, the balloon lady and being able to sit in the garden when the weather is good. I am delighted that we chose Clifden House and am extremely grateful to the team there, they look after mum so well and give us piece of mind that she is getting the best care possible.
Thank you so much for your kind comments. It really makes our day when we feel we have hit the mark and made a difference. So proud of all our team!
My brother seems to have a high level of care at the centre. All contact with the management and carers at the facility have always been very professional and caring. The centre always contact me straight away if there is any problems.
Thank you for taking the time to send this review. We work so closely together with families that our role is made far easier when we are hand-in-hand with friends and family can provide, an, utilising their unmatched knowledge to meet any challenges and aim for the best outcomes.
He settled in fairly quickly and the care he was given was beyond excellent. The staff were marvellous, always smiling, friendly and always answered any questions. The other residents were ways Happy and well dressed and the various entertainments/activities were there if it was wanted. The dignity they showed my husband and the support they showed to us was great, not forgetting the endless cups of coffee.
Wow! Thank you for this feedback. The keywords for us here at Clifden House are 'happy' and 'excellent', and the coffee's not bad either!
I have always found the staff friendly with me and the residents. The cleanliness of the rooms and communal areas seem good. The meals are served in a pleasant atmosphere and cater for my cousins vegetarian preferences. Also the medication is well controlled and thorough.
Thank you for your response.I'm pleased that we've been able to focus as strongly on mealtime choices for our residents as much as potentially vital medications. All these areas are key to providing truly person centred care.
