My husband receives excellent care at Clifden House Dementia Care Centre. The staff are kind both to him and to me. I feel confident that medical help will be called if necessary. His room is clean and hygienic and care is given to his clothes and bedding. There are activities taking place. Residents
are given extra attention on their birthdays, making them feel special. Particular care is given in hot weather to ensure residents are cool and hydrated.

My husband has been at Clifden House for nearly a year. He has his difficult times but staff deal with them very well. Really pleased that they have taken the time to find out his interests and followed them through as far as they are able, taking him for walks and football.

'Don't judge a book by its cover'! Clifden House may not look like a cruise ship kind of care home but the staff are excellent. My uncle receives love and kindness and despite challenging behaviour. I visit twice a week and am always greeted warmly by staff. Safety of residents is paramount.

Coming from a small residential home to a much bigger dementia home has been difficult in terms of noise and lack of home comforts eg. Mum always loved her china teacup. The care is very good and that staff kind and have spent a lot of time trying to get her settled. It is a sad situation for all concerned
but we feel Clifden House do their best.

All staff were friendly and helpful when approached. My aunt is happy and well cared for at this facility. Many staff have been here for a number of years which is fantastic for continuity of care with far less confusion/anxiety for the residents. Living thousands of miles away, it is very comforting
to know my questions will be answered and taken seriously.
Myself and my cousin, who are responsible for my aunt, are very pleased with the care provided and the staff in general.

I live in Australia and the home keep me up to date on my brother's condition and any hospital admissions, etc. he has in a very timely manner. The staff are always extremely helpful and informative about my brother's condition.

When my husband was at Clifden the staff showed great kindness and professional care towards all the residents. It was a very difficult time for me and the staff helped me through it ensuring that I was also looked after. The staff do a very difficult demanding job with care and devotion to the well-being
of the residents. Having spent a lot of time at Clifden House and observed the day-to-day running I can honestly say that I have been very impressed by how well the residents are cared for. My husband has now passed on and, although expected and very sad, the staff made this a lot easier for me by all their help and support. Very many thanks to everyone. (I have recommended to a friend who has recently moved her relative to this home.)

I would like to say that the activities co-ordinator was always very encouraging and enthusiastic she seemed to have great communication with the residents. My father-in-law responded very well to her and took part in activities. He particularly enjoyed the singing sessions she was able to get a lot
of the residents to partake.

Since arriving from hospital to Clifden House Dementia Care Centre in May 2015 I almost immediately saw a huge improvement in his health and he became much more relaxed and happy. The nurses and staff all have a lovely relationship with him and I feel they are all doing their best to keep him comfortable
for the rest of his days. I cannot speak more highly of all the caring staff who are also warm and friendly towards me.

Activities, food, staff all excellent. Although I visit my mother every day I am always informed if there are any issues when I am not there. After an unfortunate fall in her bedroom, I was immediately told and now she has measures put in place so staff know when she tried to get out of bed during the
night, such as regular checks and a special mat by the bed which sounds an alarm in the nurse's station. I would not hesitate to recommend this care home and after 4 years there, I look forward to celebrating mother's 100th birthday.

Alzheimer's took away my mum's dignity. Clifden House gave it back. She was cared for with respect, compassion and a sense of humour. In her final hours, the kindness of all the staff helped support her and the family. No one would wish to end their days in care but Clifden was a happy place. There
were always things going on and the staff to care for residents when the family no longer could. I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home.

Generally we are reasonably satisfied with mums care. The home does everything possible to entertain and stimulate the patients. However, sometimes there appears to be severe lack of staff with high percentage of casual staff. There appears to be very little staff management, especially of casual workers.
The regular staff are good. Personal effects disappear regularly despite protestation. The food is good. We have had cause to complain in the past and generally complaints have been dealt with, although managers are often dismissive. Repeated requests to work mums hands, and finger nails have been ignored. Mum is 95 and has been there for six years. Fees increased from £550 to £800 per week in that time.

Thank you very much for taking the time to give us feedback. We'd like to take the opportunity to clarify some of the points you have raised and would, of course, be very happy to meet with you at the home to ensure we're meeting your expectations.
We use the Residential Forum and Care Home Staffing models, as utilised industry wide, to assess our required staffing levels, and are documented as always employing over and above recommended hours for our client group in order to ensure we can deliver the very best of care at all times. We do not employ casual staff at Clifden House. It is not possible to work with us without undergoing a full recruitment and training procedure, including DBS and reference checks and a three month certificated training requirement. If we need to utilise agency staff to cover for sickness and absence, they have also undergone the same recruitment process. We are proud to say that our use of agency staffing accounts for less than 5% of our staffing hours.
Our care team is managed by a team manager and two care seniors on the floor, observing practice and allocating tasks throughout the day and night shifts.
We're glad to hear that issues you have raised have been dealt with and would propose a further meeting at the home to ensure other issues are resolved, as our records show has been achieved in the past.
We were very pleased that your mother moved into a brand new room in our new-build extension following our refurbishment. We are happy to state that our fees range from £750 to £950 per week, dependent upon care needs.

I visit my wife most days and find the staff caring and attentive towards her. The surroundings are bright and clean with ample room for residents to circulate. There appears to be adequate staff on duty to attend to residents needs. There are activities for all who wish to participate.

Mum has been in Clifden House since 2013. When she first went in and her condition was less severe she was extremely happy in her surroundings and really content. She was always treated in a friendly manner which added to her happiness. As her condition has deteriorated and she has her off days she
is still treated in the same way with compassion and kindness. As her son I am naturally pleased that she is as content as possible and although I don't think she knows who I am now, I still get a smile. Apart from her hair being done regularly another small kindness is her nails being varnished. A nice kindness.

I am the Registered Manager of Clifden House, and I am a highly motivated, visionary health care professional, who has passion and drive in the delivery of care to service users.
I am proactive in ensuring that all service users receive the highest standard of care through staff training, collaboration with other health care professionals and where possible involving the service user in formatting their personal plan of care.


I enjoy ensuring best outcomes for the residents that we care for. Working alongside a wonderful, diverse team of staff in all Departments.


Overall, my job is very rewarding but can have its challenges, as sometimes being a manager can be a very lonely job.


I like the fact that no 2 days are the same. The challenges I deal with are never the same. I work with a diverse group of the residents and staff that are like my extended family.

As a Team Manager I am responsible to lead a team of care professionals who provide high quality, empathetic care to our residents, I am responsible of overseeing the daily operation of the care team ensuring that high standards of care, safety and dignity are constantly maintained for all residents. My role combines leadership, coordination and emotional intelligence to support both staff and residents , fostering a respectful and caring environment.


I have worked at Clifden House for nearly 10 years and I find my job very satisfying, knowing that I am contributing to the well being of our residents everyday gives my a strong sense of purpose. It is incredibly rewarding to see positive changes, whether that is a residents settling in and feeling more at home or a team member growing in their role with high support. Of course, there are challenges, but being able to support residents and staff, solve problems and make a real difference makes my role deeply fulfilling.


The environment, my colleagues, our residents, the manager and the owners make me feel like the home, if family to me,all I have learned at Clifden House, being a care assistant and they gave me the opportunity to study and develop myself. I have trained with medication, and completed my NVQ qualifications.

I enjoy working at Clifden House with a great team and getting the feeling that we are all here for and with the same purpose. Every day is different !


I have been working here for nearly 13 years and I have a level 5 qualification.


As a Team Manager I oversee the allocation of staff and the day to day running of the shift, engaging with all the staff and visitors and dealing with several outside organisations including social workers, GP's, District Nurse, Speech & Language, OT's, Families and friends of residents and many more.


I find my job very satisfying knowing I have made a difference to the residents lives.


I enjoy having a positive impact on the residents we care for and their families, to help make their lives at Clifden House more enjoyable and rewarding on a daily basis, I also enjoy listening to stories of their life hearing the ups and downs they have encountered through their lives.

I have been working at Clifden House since mid 2017 and I started as a carer and have worked up to become Team Manager. The thing I like most working at Clifden House is the family atmosphere. Residents, family members and other staff all feel like a family unit, being able to share things and raise concerns knowing something will be done to ensure everyone is better off.


My Current role is Team Manager, this role involves me assisting the house manager with the running of the dad to day needs of the care home. This is usually in the form of running the day shift ensuring each of our residents daily needs are met and our staff are working to the best of their abilities. Other responsibilities tied to my job is ensuring the residents care plans and risk assessments are upon to date and relevant, interacting with other health care professionals, and family and friends of our residents.


The thing I enjoy most about my job is meeting new and interesting people with it either being residents, family members or other staff. Listening to the stories they share and I enjoy being able to push staff to their potential.


Overall I find my job satisfying, being a carer a carer is not always sunshine or rainbows - the most satisfying part of the job is getting a smile or a thank you when assisting one of the residents.


I have a NVQ Level 4 in health and social care (graded distinction) and I regularly undertake my mandatory training courses. I have my train the trainer in manual handling and I am trained in first aid, as well as 18 years experience in the care sector.

I enjoy working wit the staff! The hours are good and you can be yourself.


I enjoy getting to know the residents and hearing about their pasts.


I assist the team leaders in the running of the day shift and assist the residents with their day to day living while promoting their independence wherever possible.

I like everything here a Clifden House, the staff, the place, the managements, everything is great and is it like a second family for me.


I really enjoy cooking and to be here with all the lovely people. I enjoy working hard and to be responsible to provide great tasty food.


My role is very satisfying.

Job Title: Cleaner Joined: 2021

I have been working at Clifden House for 4 years now, and I like the people that work here they are all so nice and easy to get on with. Working within a great team where we all support each other which creates a great atmosphere and a good place to work.


I clean all the communal areas, ensuring they are kept clean and tidy, washing floors and walls etc. I clean the residents rooms to an excellent standard ensuring they are clean and tidy and I replenish toiletry products. I make sure all surfaces an furnishing are clean of stains, including carpets, putting the residents first, their safety is priority.


At times it can be challenging but I enjoy being able to talk to the residents and make them smile and feel happy.

I enjoy building strong, trusting relationships with the residents.


I really like working for Clifden House as it is supportive and a friendly team. I find my job very satisfying being able to care for vulnerable individuals and make a positive impact on their lives.

I provide care and support for residents at Clifden House and I ensure a high standard of care is maintained working within a supportive team. I also need to supervise and support other team members.


I enjoy working together in my team to achieve the residents and family members well being. It can be challenging but satisfying at the end of the day. Seeing and hearing the residents responses to my makes my day brighter !


It is for the benefit of humanity where an individual unable to look after themselves, requires support and care, it is very satisfying.


I like working for Clifden House as I have a very supportive team environment, where everyone plays an important role in providing excellent care for our residents. I can learn about residents personalities and about their likes, dislikes and they abilities to daily living. It is about enhancing the quality of life working together by empathy and patience.
