St Peter’s Park offers care specific to the individual. My mother has items of her own furniture in her room and several of her favourite pictures have been hung up on the wall, so she has a certain amount of familiarity in her surroundings, which is a comfort. The staff are very caring and listen to what she says.
They helped to celebrate her recent birthday, decorating her room with birthday banners, giving her a well-chosen birthday card and producing a birthday cake (with a candle), baked in St Peter’s Park kitchen. The date did not pass unnoticed that day!
In the short time, my mother has been there, she has been involved in craft activities, gone on an outing to the Christmas tree farm and been accompanied on a short walk around the grounds of the church next door, with the aid of her wheeled walking frame, which she enjoyed.

Owing to Covid regulations, it is not really possible to see how the residents live day-to-day, but we can video-call or have limited Covid-secure visits.

My father is in the care wing. He came here two years ago and the care has been outstanding. The carers are kind, caring and skilful. The care he receives is moving to watch. My mum is a tenant of a St Peter's Park flat, she enjoys being part of this lovely community. It is a relief to know mum and dad are so well cared for.

My father has been a resident for two years at St Peter's Park. He has received excellent care throughout and the staff take very good care of his health and well-being, always having his best interests at heart. His room is welcoming and he has a lovely view of the gardens. He enjoys the food which is always freshly cooked and prepared according to his needs. I would have no reservations about recommending this care home.

I have been visiting a resident for about four years on a weekly basis and at various times of the day including on occasions when lunch has been served. I have always considered this to be fairly depressing. The food always looks basic, unappetising and is presented very poorly. There seems to be little attempt to provide stimulation to care with residents, who are mostly unable to move freely around the building.

Peterhouse ceased being a charity in December 2018 when bought by Agincare. It is early days to note any significant changes. Care staff are worried about their jobs, relatives are concerned about fee increases. The new chef has improved food and nutrition, there are more vegetables. The chef works to a very small budget. Juice has been replaced by heavy sweetened concentrate - high sugar content, is inappropriate for elderly people and increases risk of diabetes. Limited staff at weekends and management has not increased its efficiency. Not good social skills. Lovely gardens, extremely well kept.

Having lived here at Peterhouse for some 11 years I am still glad that I came and my ticks to details below prove that I am still satisfied. Obviously I am slightly apprehensive about the change in ownership but I am very hopeful that things will continue or even improve from our first contact with the new directors.

I have been here for almost one year in a flat which I rent. I am extremely happy here and feel safe at all times. I cannot fault the service, kindness and general way of life. The staff are super, very attentive, there is also a lot of laughter, and great generosity. Lovely food, nicely served by friendly staff. All the staff, in whatever capacity, are really super. Lounges are comfortable. I am very happy. The gardens are lovely.

I was received into Peterhouse at short notice for respite care having sprained my ankle. The care standard was excellent with very friendly and competent staff. My room had a balcony overlooking the garden and an en-suite basin and WC. Every need was attended to quickly and the food was also very good. I would definitely recommend Peterhouse for long-term or respite care.

Victoria is the Registered Manager of St Peter's Park.

A quote from Victoria, "St Peter’s Park is unlike other retirement villages or care homes. There’s a different atmosphere here, with a really interesting and stimulating mix of residents, right across the care home and independent living flats and cottages. I’d recommend coming to visit to see for yourself what it’s like."
