My mother has Parkinson's/dementia and I tried to care for her at her home but when she went to Aniska Lodge it was a huge weight off my shoulders.
The staff are so kind and patient with Mum and home is always spotless.
I can relax and visit her daily happy in the knowledge she is well cared for.
They are truly great with her ever-changing dementia 10/10.
Reply from Tracy White, Administrator at Aniska LodgeThank you so much for your very positive review. We are delighted that you are so happy with Mum's care and we always look forward to your daily visits to the home.

My mother became a resident early in 2020 when we were sadly unable to care for her at home. It was a difficult decision to make, but when my father and I were shown around Aniska Lodge, we felt very lucky to have found a home that was friendly, clean and didn't smell. My mother found it hard to live
away from home, and at times could be rude, difficult and challenging towards the staff however, they were always kind, supportive and patient with her and consistently updating me with any concerns.
My mother's needs were always met and she looked clean and smart when I visited. Towards the end of her life the staff kept her very comfortable in her room, and were very attentive to her needs at all times.
I would like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to everyone for the excellent personal service you gave her when she entered the final phase of her life and the support you gave us when she passed away.
Reply from Tracy White, Administrator at Aniska LodgeThank you very much indeed for taking the time to leave such a positive review - it is very much appreciated by all the staff and we are so very pleased to have been able to support you all at a very difficult time.

My father was nervous about being at Aniska Lodge but very quickly we realised just how friendly everyone was. There was always something going on, singing, art, movement, dogs visiting, etc. I know at times my dad could be grumpy but this never phased anyone. He was not with you for long but everyone
was kind and he did talk about the people he liked. He was very happy you always remembered his favourite pudding. You have all been marvellous. Thank you so much.

This is my first experience of a care home and it's much better than I envisaged. The staff are brilliant, always happy and attentive and do lots to keep the residents occupied i.e paintings, puzzles and even trips to garden centres etc. Both the management and staff are well informed about the residents
and keep us relatives up to date with what's going on. There seems to be plenty of food available and the carers make the effort to encourage and help them eat it. I've sampled sandwiches and cake and they've been delicious! Cheaper than other care homes.
Reply from Tracy White, Administrator at Aniska LodgeThank you very much for taking the time to write a review, we are delighted to read that you are happy with the new experience of a care home. My husband spent two weeks respite at Aniska Lodge in October. We were warmly welcomed with tea and biscuits. Everyone was helpful and friendly. His room was spotless and comfortable. He was looked after and I could ring the home at any time for an update. As my husband is unable to give an opinion,
I will fill in the options from my own observations. I cannot comment on value for money as we are now council-funded. The staff were really caring and helpful. The manager personally returned some clothes that were in the laundry when we left. I would gladly use this nursing home again for respite.

Mum was admitted to Aniska Lodge due to her need for nursing of Alzheimers care. She was unable to make use of many of the facilities due to her illness but other residents seemed very happy. The staff were attentive and very friendly. Mum was always nicely dressed in clean clothes and was showered
often.

My mother passed away at Aniska Lodge on 7th March 2023. The palliative care she received was excellent and I was treated with such kindness as well. I was allowed to stay by her bedside and spent her last forty-eight hours with her which meant so much and I am sure it gave her much comfort. I can't
praise Aniska Lodge enough, my heartfelt gratitude goes out to them all.
Reply from Tracy White, Administrator at Aniska LodgeWe are so very sorry for your loss and thank you for taking the time to write. The staff were excellent in looking after my father, at all times they showed professionalism. They kept me informed on a regular basis of his health and any concerns that they felt I should be aware of. Most of all I am grateful that they contacted me so that I could say goodbye to my father. The administration
side was easy to deal with and explained in an easy-to-understand package.

The care home was always clean and my mother was always well-presented. The staff showed great caring and compassion for both my mother and family. The care home was overall excellent. Management, care and the support network were amazing.
My father was disappointed with the food but to be fair he is extremely fussy - he requires his food to be liquidised.

I can't rate all the facilities because my mother was only in Anisja Lodge for a week before she died. I was really impressed by their responsiveness and efficient communication. However, I was in a difficult position, having to find a dementia nursing place with short notice, and Aniska Lodge filled
the bill. They assessed and admitted her within a week and then provided thoughtful terminal care, which was needed.

My aunt seems very contented at Anisha Lodge. She says that she likes the staff and that they are kind to her. She has expressed some surprise that sometimes she is bathed by a man, but on the whole, seems amused at this! I have sat while she eats her lunch, which looks of good quality, as is her appetite.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.925)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.925) out of 10 for Aniska Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.925 for Aniska Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (210 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 227 Ratings = 4.925
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Aniska Lodge is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 51 registered maximum number of service users is 10.2, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
