Birchwood Grove Care Home

I love that despite Birchwood being a care home it has such a homely feel. There was no clinical smell like in some care homes. Everywhere was very clean, tidy and really well decorated. My nan's room was lovely and the staff had put up pictures of family and drawings from nans grandchildren.

The nursing home staff work very much as a team and are most welcoming to family visitors. The structures and routines are well planned. The building and home environment are well maintained and feels homely. We feel that mum is in safe and caring hands.

My Godmother was very poorly when she came to the home. She had various health problems and had lost a lot of weight and become very fragile. She received a huge welcome from all the staff on her arrival and the family was regularly kept up to date on her progress throughout her stay at Birchwood. The home had the difficult task of keeping the home Covid free during her stay. I have to say what a brilliant job they have done in maintaining Covid free during these awful times. Thank you all for the care and attention my Godmother received during her stay here.

My friend has been staying at Birchwood Grove Care Home for the last couple of years. He was very poorly when he arrived and is so good to see how much his health has improved since being at Birchwood. The staff are helpful and friendly and always go the extra mile. Carry on the good work.

My parents have now moved to a different home to be closer to family, otherwise, we would have been happy for them to stay at Birchwood Grove.

The whole staff team (gardener/maintenance, cleaners/housekeeping, laundry, chefs and kitchen, admin, activities providers, nursing staff and carers) all contributed so well in providing an end of life home for my mother-in-law. Her physical needs and her emotional and well-being needs were met to a high standard. Staff were kind and sensitive, listening and taking time to understand what she was trying to communicate and fulfil her requests. She loved the cosy comfort of her room, but she was also helped to enjoy the lounge and garden and activities provided. It was a comfort to know she was so well looked after, and as a regular visitor with my husband, we were also shown and given compassionate care.

The communication between all staff and myself is excellent. They always call me immediately when a change in my mother's care/health needs occur. Thank you.

The whole house is kept clean and well decorated. The staff always engage with all residents as well as guests.

I have seen extreme patience with residents whose capabilities are very limited. I find this very reassuring.

From the day Mum moved into Birchwood Grove we have all been supported. The staff are very kind and caring. Always greeting the family with a smile. My Mum can be challenging due to the onset of dementia. Staff are experienced and skilled in explaining why and how they need to sensitively move her to care for her needs as she is bedbound. Her room is homely and cosy as well as practical for management of good cleanliness. Thank you to all the Birchwood Grove staff team.

All my needs were taken into consideration and the right care was given. I was only there for three weeks respite care (a bit of a short time to give a really meaningful review) but in the short time I was there, it was very good.

Staff communicate very well and the activities provided are aimed at including everyone regardless of their situation. Overall I have been impressed with the whole environment and very happy that my mother is a resident.
