Birchwood Grove is a small homely nursing home in Haywards Heath. It is situated close to the town centre, with excellent transport links.

The staff team provide a high standard of person centred care, caring for a small group of residents enables flexibilty, and residents are supported and encouraged to make daily decisions about their own care and maintain independence as much as possible. An activities co ordinator is employed to support residents to maintain interests, and develop new ones.

The home hosts regular social events such as supper parties, barbeques and garden parties which are open to relatives, friends and the local community. Friends and family are warmly welcomed at any time, and are encouraged to feel at home.

My friend has been staying at Birchwood Grove Care Home for the last couple of years. He was very poorly when he arrived and is so good to see how much his health has improved since being at Birchwood. The staff are helpful and friendly and always go the extra mile. Carry on the good work.

My parents spent 3 months at Birchwood Grove Care Home earlier this year. My mother was initially admitted from the hospital, after having been unable to arrange suitable care for my father at home he joined her there two weeks later. They both have dementia, but very different care needs and my mother’s
behaviour can be very challenging. However, the staff took this in their stride and did everything they could to accommodate their individual needs. This was a very difficult time for both my parents and myself, particularly as I do not live locally. The care, compassion and empathy shown by the staff certainly helped make it a little less stressful.
My parents have now moved to a different home to be closer to family, otherwise, we would have been happy for them to stay at Birchwood Grove.

The whole staff team (gardener/maintenance, cleaners/housekeeping, laundry, chefs and kitchen, admin, activities providers, nursing staff and carers) all contributed so well in providing an end of life home for my mother-in-law. Her physical needs and her emotional and well-being needs were met to a
high standard. Staff were kind and sensitive, listening and taking time to understand what she was trying to communicate and fulfil her requests. She loved the cosy comfort of her room, but she was also helped to enjoy the lounge and garden and activities provided. It was a comfort to know she was so well looked after, and as a regular visitor with my husband, we were also shown and given compassionate care.

I have been really happy with the care and attention my mother receives. She has been settled well since being at the home.
The communication between all staff and myself is excellent. They always call me immediately when a change in my mother's care/health needs occur. Thank you.

The whole house is kept clean and well decorated. The staff always engage with all residents as well as guests.


I have seen extreme patience with residents whose capabilities are very limited. I find this very reassuring.

From the day Mum moved into Birchwood Grove we have all been supported. The staff are very kind and caring. Always greeting the family with a smile. My Mum can be challenging due to the onset of dementia. Staff are experienced and skilled in explaining why and how they need to sensitively move her to
care for her needs as she is bedbound. Her room is homely and cosy as well as practical for management of good cleanliness. Thank you to all the Birchwood Grove staff team.

All my needs were taken into consideration and the right care was given. I was only there for three weeks respite care (a bit of a short time to give a really meaningful review) but in the short time I was there, it was very good.

Following my mother admission in June 2016 I have noticed a significant and positive change in her, she is far more happy and relaxed and is clearly stimulated by her environment.
The staff are always very welcoming, the home very clean and my mother always immaculate whatever time of day you visit.

communicate very well and the activities provided are aimed at including everyone regardless of their situation. Overall I have been impressed with the whole environment and very happy that my mother is a resident.
