Donnington House

My aunt was quite poorly when she reluctantly agreed to come into Donnington House because she was living alone and unable to care properly for herself. Her carer was a great help and found the Donnington House for us. It was a matter of great concern to me that she should be somewhere nice, clean and where the staff would treat her well. The Donnington House was all of these and the food always looked fabulous! My aunt went home for a short while before being readmitted, she was better, but not well enough to leave and regretted doing so, so when it was suggested she should return and there was a room she was really pleased. She stayed a further 4 or 5 weeks enabling her to recover enough to go home. When she finally returned home, she was sorry to leave because she had had such good care, but wanted her own home again. I am very grateful to the staff for their kindness and gentleness. I am immensely grateful for a lovely place for my aunt to be in, I recommend it!

Everyone at Donnongton House - the management, nurses, carers, housekeeping and catering treated my father with the utmost kindness during the final six months of his life. All his nursing and personal needs were met with professionalism, empathy and compassion. Donnington House liaised closely with the GP surgery, so medicines were swiftly prescribed and administered. Thank you to everyone concerned.

Donnington House is head and shoulders above other care homes my husband has used for respite. The level of nursing care is excellent, and an outstanding feature of the Home is the unfailingly warm welcome I ( and our little Westie) receive from the staff when we visit. My husband loves the food, especially the puddings!

My sister was in a care home but after a spell in hospital was unable to return there because of her nursing needs. My husband and I visited Donnington House to see if they had any vacancies as we had heard good reports about it. We were very impressed with our visit, and arrangements were made for my sister to move there. The staff have been brilliant and very patient dealing with my sister and her needs which are many with care and humour, and we are very grateful to them all.

My mum went into Donnington House in November 2023 for respite to start with and is now a permanent resident. Since being there she looks really well, and that is for us as a family, is due to the level of care she gets from the nurses, carers and the whole team at Donnington House. They are all committed to the resident's welfare. They make my mum happy with their humour and sense of fun. They also have regular entertainment which my mum sometimes joins in. I wouldn't want my mum anywhere else. She's happy and that makes us happy. Me and my family are very grateful to Donnington House and the whole team there. We're so glad we decided for my mum to be there as we looked at others which didn't come close to Donnington House.

My family and I have been incredibly impressed with the quality care that my dad receives at Donnington House. The staff are universally kind, welcoming and thoughtful in how they take care of him. The food is outstanding thank you, and the whole team are brilliant at treating him like a person, not a patient or a customer. They have lots of banter with him and he enjoys that company. The manager is efficient, and accommodating and always makes time to discuss dads needs.

My husband has been with Donnington Care Home since February 2024, previously having had some respite there. I was invited to check over the place and was very pleasantly surprised by all aspects of the care and love shown to all clients and family. I cannot praise all the staff highly enough. Nothing is too much trouble. My husband's needs are being met on all aspects. The chef and kitchen staff are only too willing to oblige my and my husband requests. Everyone is looked after on a very personal level. The cheery faces of all that care for my husband put my heart at peace. The activities organized for the clients are first class. I would recommend this care home to anyone looking for a placement where love kindness and care are their priorities.

The care here is exceptional and it feels like an extension of family. We moved our uncle down to the area when his former care home in another area closed and the team at Donnington have been beyond brilliant in keeping him calm and happy even in his final days. We are so grateful to you all.

My mother has been a resident at Donnington House since January 2023. We enquired about availability when my mother asked about having some respite care in December 2022. Donnington House's assessment was prompt, courteous and careful and they offered assistance. My mother was welcomed on the 27th of December with grace and care, during her pleasant three-week stay she chose to remain at Donnington House. She has welcomed conversations and friendships from all the staff who care for her with her increasing disability following two TIA's The staff's concern and sadness at Mum's growing disability was self-evident and very touching to her family.

My uncle was placed in Donnington House around eight months ago, when he went in he was very distressed and apprehensive, but due to the nice homely feel and the excellent staff and care, he absolutely loves it and states he wouldn’t want to be anywhere else as this is his home! This makes such a difference to us as a family to know he enjoys where he lives and that he is getting the very best care 24/7, so thank you to all the staff at Donnington House! Not all heroes were capes! Thank you.

Comfortable, compassionate, understandings of needs, good pain relief and care/hygiene, attention to detail, happy and homely atmosphere, beautiful scenic gardens, fabulous home-cooked food and assistance when dining, if required, but never rushed. Great activities and very clean, lovely rooms. All the staff at Donnington House, not only outstanding, but exceptional.

Mother has received excellent care at Donnington House. Nothing was too much trouble and all staff were very helpful. Would recommend highly Donnington House.

All in all - the best place to be if you or a loved one may require excellent care, short or long-term.

Our mother was a resident here for the last few months of her life. We were so glad we chose Donnington House following a disappointing experience at another care home in the area. The staff were fantastic and provided excellent care, giving mum every opportunity to make the most of her situation despite her declining health. We were never in any doubt that she was receiving the very best care possible, and we were kept updated if there were any issues or concerns. In addition, the social side is well catered for, with a range of activities the residents can take part in collectively or individually, depending on their ability and preference. They really do make sure people aren’t excluded or isolated. We were particularly grateful to be able to use the conservatory for a family occasion, and provided with a wonderful lunch and cake. It’s hard to overstate the difference that Donnington House and its kind, caring staff made for mum and our family in the last stages of her life.

Donnington House is highly recommended. Very kind and caring staff, always there to help no matter what. They go above and beyond. Couldn't of asked for a better place for my dad to live, who is extremely happy. Knowing that he is cared for by this home takes the worry out of his care.

I always felt that he was safe and extremely well cared for. During his end-of-life care the staff explained everything to us and were very sensitive to Dad's and my family's needs.
