My mother and father were both residents in Donnington House, my mother for over 11 years before she passed away in January 2023. Throughout their time in the home, they were both provided with loving care, respect and encouragement which went well beyond what could reasonably be expected. The commitment
of the staff during the Covid crisis, especially in its early stages, probably saved many lives. There is a special atmosphere at Donnington House, created by the brilliant staff, many of whom have worked there for a number of years and I would wholeheartedly recommend them to anybody.

After Mum living with us for 22 years, hearing from the hospital that a nursing home was now the only option, we were all incredibly sad and concerned about where Mum would go, how she would be, and how we as a family would cope.
Donnington House Care Home - we cannot thank and praise you all enough.
From the phone call to say you would be able to accommodate Mum, to your unfailing care, support and all round wonderfulness to Mum, we are so truly grateful to you all. Every single member of staff truly did their best for her and supported me and my family wholeheartedly through her admission to her passing, and we honestly could not have asked for any more from any of you. Communication was first class, and everyone was always cheerful, kind, honest, caring and supportive. I would highly recommend this amazing home and their team of wonderful people.

The staff at Donningot House have been amazing during the pandemic and have taken every precaution to keep residents safe. They have remained cheerful and caring and shown support to their residents. Their care of my mother at the end of her life made all our lives better, and she was comfortable and
treated with care to the end.

My father went into Donnington House from the hospital for a month until he died in August. The staff at the home were fantastic, and nothing was a problem at any time. I would recommend them to anybody.

M mother spent just a short time in Donnington House. At all times, the staff when a family member phoned were helpful, well informed and compassionate - nothing was ever too much trouble.
During challenging times, (covid) communication remained excellent, and the staff were always proactive regarding
my mother's nursing and emotional needs.
I would not hesitate to recommend this exemplary home and would once again thank Donnington House for their support and compassion.

My mother has been cared for by Donnington House for about six months. I cannot speak more highly about this home. The empathy, care and love for the residents is incredible. The staff are all welcoming (without exception), always helpful. Something, in particular, is the focus on care for relatives
and friends of the residents as well as those in the home. We have always felt welcome and part of the family. We have tried several homes before for respite and this significantly exceeds all others. A key part of the success of Donnington to us is the approach of all staff. It's cheery. It's a great place.

My Dad has been cared for by the wonderful team at Donnington House until he passed away at the home. Throughout his journey he was treated with immense dignity and respect. He was fond of every member of staff and a good relationship was built with all of them. The home was always spotlessly clean.
Dad had often said that the food was very good. There was a good variety of entertainment and I wish Dad had been in a position to join in, but he loved listening to music as it wafted through the home. My family and I were supported with compassion and empathy through a very sad and difficult time by the kind and caring staff whatever the time of day. I am so pleased my Dad was able to spend his last months in such a facility and I do thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart.

I would recommend this home to everyone. It's always clean and tidy, the staff are very friendly and welcoming and helpful. The residents are always happy and there are lots of activities for the residents and families to join in with. The meals look good and smell great, if you don't fancy what is
on the menu, they will cook what you want. Brilliant place to live well done to all concerned in the running of the home.

Hello, my name is Sophie, and I am delighted to be the Registered Manager at Donnington House.


After having my son at the age of 40 I decided that I want to work for a business with a philosophy and standards that I truly believed in, and one that genuinely made a difference to improve the quality of life for people in my community. Donnington House, which is a non-profit charity organisation that truly puts care of the elderly at the heart of everything it delivers, was a perfect fit.
Donnington House provides its residents with a relaxed, safe, and homely environment in which their care, well-being and comfort are of paramount importance.


The staffing team strive to preserve and maintain the dignity, individuality, and privacy of all the residents within a warm and caring atmosphere and are sensitive to the resident’s changing needs.

Such needs may be medical, cultural, psychological, spiritual, emotional, and social. Residents are encouraged to participate in the development of their plan in care in which the involvement of family and friends is always valued.


I previously worked in the very profit and commercial led sector of retail for over 15 years where I held the role of Head of Retail for a market leading brand. I started working at Donnington House as the Business Manager and simply fell in love with the culture of the home. I retrained, immersed myself in the care industry and was interviewed by the Care Quality Commission and the Board of Trustees at Donnington House which led to my promotion as Registered Manager in 2022.
I aim to ensure that Donnington House is a home from home for our resident’s.


All staff within the Home are appropriately qualified to deliver the highest standards of care. A continuous training programme is implemented to ensure that standards are maintained in line with the developments in care practices and laid down in legislation, regulations, and the Care Quality Commission guidelines.

I joined Donnington House as an administrator, the moment I walked in to Donnington it felt welcoming, friendly and homely. I was promoted to Business Manager in 2022 and I love my role, I am front of house and get to meet residents families and friends and have a great rapport with them.
I feel that I am approachable for the staff to come and see me if they encounter any problems. I love seeing the residents taking part in various activities that the home offers and just having a general chat with them and listening to them talk about there lives.

Job Title: Senior Care Practitioner Joined: 2011

I have worked within the care sector for 33 years in various settings including Bognor War Memorial Hospital and as a Field Care Supervisor in the community. I joined The Donnington House team in 2007 which provides a high standard of support and care for up to 28 elderly residents.


Donnington House has supported me with excellent training opportunities, achieving a Level 3 in Health and Social Care in October 2013. I then became a Moving and Handling advisor providing in-house training to all staff. In 2018 I was supported by the nursing team to achieve a Level 4 Diploma in Adult Social Care and became qualified to support the nursing team with administering medication.


In January 2022 I was promoted under a new manager to Senior Care Practitioner. I now lead and support the care team through an extensive training programme which includes the 15 standards of care as set out in The Care Certificate, providing the knowledge and understanding to be able to promote and provide high quality, individualised person-centred care in safe comfortable surroundings.


As part of my job role, I lead the care team to ensure every resident has their wishes, needs and preferences met in a dignified and respectful way, following all core values of Donnington House.


I have always enjoyed my job role at Donnington House and always feel well supported. I believe the care and support we provide are more personalised as it is an independent, not-for-profit charity-run home where people matter.
