We know she is safe.
Thank you for your feedback. It is our aim for families to feel secure and reassured that their loved ones are cared for well and are safe.
Visited my dad for the first time at this nursing home. He was clean, well-groomed and happy watching the Olympics. He said he was happy and the food was good. The staff were pleasant and attentive all the time, offering drinks and getting meal requirements from others as well as my dad. Other residents were chatty and cheerful. Went home feeling very happy that he was secure and well looked after.
Thank you so much for your kind review. We endeavour to make everyone feel at home and as comfortable as they can be. Our team take pride in being kind and attentive. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Having spent a number of days visiting several nursing homes, we chose Tenchley Manor as it felt like a house and not a hospital setting. Warm and welcoming atmosphere, lovely staff. Care of my mum was dealt with sensitively and compassionately. Regular updates face to face or on the phone. Care shown to us as well. Speak thanks to three particular nurses. A real home from home - thank you to everyone who cared for Mum.
We really appreciate your feedback. All of the team at Tenchley appreciate that we are working in the residents' homes, and we strive to make the environment as homely as possible. We look forward to sharing your comments with the staff at Tenchley Manor. Thank you.
My dad has been a Tenchley Manor resident for 3 years now and he is definitely in the right place. He is well looked after in all aspects of his care by wonderful staff who do all they can to make him comfortable. Not only do they give my dad first-class care they are always there to support me too with kindness and warmth when I find it particularly hard to see my dad so poorly. My dog regularly accompanies me on my visits to see Dad and he loves coming too as he's always thoroughly spoiled with lots of doggie treats.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. We really appreciate your feedback which will be shared with our team. It is always a pleasure to see you and your lovely dog!
The staff are caring and take care to ensure that his needs are met, both medically, physically and mentally.
We are very happy here.
Thank you for your feedback. We really appreciate your comments. Pleasure to have him with us.
Management is professional and approachable.
Tenchley has taken a huge amount of stress from my shoulders and I will always be grateful for their care of mum.
Thank you for your review. Your feedback is invaluable to the team at Tenchley Manor. It is a pleasure to have your mother with us.
A very big thank you to this wonderful team at Tenchley Manor for making a milestone birthday very special and for letting us enjoy a fabulous day celebrating with family and friends. The care and compassion every member of staff has for the residents is exceptional and they go above and beyond to make all feel like one big family. Cannot thank them all enough for all that they do!!
Thank you for your comments. It was absolutely pleasure to be a part of your loved one's big day. I am glad that you had a wonderful time.
I cannot thank the staff at Tenchley Manor enough. As a family, over the generations this area has always been our second home, unfortunately of late it is not possible for us to take Mum with us on holiday due to the deterioration of her health, however, with Mum in respite at Tenchley Manor she was able to holiday with us with exceptional care provided on her stay and at the same time enjoying a few days out with the family.
Thank you so much for your review. It was a pleasure to enable you to carry on having family holidays together in sunny Selsey. We are looking forward to seeing you all again very soon.
Everyone has been exceptionally kind and caring. Dad moved here sixteen months ago to be closer to Mum. He loved to sit in the day room every morning with a view of the sea. Mum visited daily and was also kindly looked after, sometimes joining in activities or happily staying to lunch dates with Dad. Throughout his stay, he has received outstanding care from everyone and we were always made welcome and never concerned to leave him in your care. He had no worries and passed peacefully within view of the sea. We can't begin to thank you enough for all you have done for Dad during his stay with you. It will never be forgotten.
Thank you for your feedback. We aim to support our residents and their families. It was an absolute pleasure to have your father with us and to have your mother visit often. Please feel free to come to Tenchley and see us anytime. The door is always open and we would love to see you soon.
My Dad (58) went to reside at Tenchley Manor from the end of June 2023 until late August and when he moved to hospice, his cancer-related anxiety and symptoms had become too difficult to manage at home, and it was decided a nursing home would be the safest place for him. Dad had very complex needs and on top of this a terminal diagnosis, making him hard to manage. Most of the staff were very good and with my Dad. My only criticism was I wish I had felt listened to more regarding his end-of-life symptoms. Tenchley have kept in touch with me and were very supportive and still are since my Dad passed away in September 2023.
It was privilege being here for you all as a family. Please stay in touch.
To the manager - you have a host of angels.
Thank you for your lovely comments. We so miss your visits to our home. You are indeed correct, they really are an incredible team and we are so lucky to have them. Caring is something we all love to do at Tenchley Manor. Feel free to drop by for a hug anytime.
Tenchley Manor has a reputation as a top nursing home and rightly so. The staff are polite, respectful and very professional. Despite my mother's stay being sadly short, I am very happy that she ended her days in their care.
Thank you so much for your high praise, our team will be thrilled to read your review. It was a privilege supporting you all.
Took Mum for emergency respite and ended up saving her life. The care and support she was given was excellent and has helped her to regain her confidence. All staff I met were caring and considerate. Manager was excellent in coming out to assess Mum within an hour and organisation her admission within a few hours.
Thank you for your comments. We always aim to provide the best care for everyone and to support in every way.
The care team have been wonderful at ensuring our dad is well taken care of 24 hours a day. The place is always clean, the staff always happy and engaged and we also have our needs or concerns addressed in a timely and effective manner.
Thank you for your review. We appreciate your comments and always aim to provide the best care to our residents.
The staff were very welcoming to us. They supported us through my partner's end-of-life care as it came around so quickly. He received wonderful care right to the end of his life peacefully and respectfully I can't thank them enough.
Thank you for your review. Your feedback is important to us and we appreciate you taking the time to complete this.
Comfortable premises with good managment and nursing and excellent domestic and catering staff. Carers are good in the main but I sometimes have difficulty understanding them or them me. They change very often so I don't get to know them I enjoy repartee with those I know.
Thank you for your comments. All feedback is appreciated and assists us with improving the service we provide.
The staff have been amazing making sure my brother is comfortable and as happy as possible. The home smells nice and is very clean. Just looked at my brother I can see how much care has gone into his care. The staff treat us as family, feel welcome and have been supporting us emotionally. The two nurses are amazing, very happy, lovely and considerate.
We endeavour to preserve our homely and family atmosphere, as we feel it it is vital to support the health and wellbeing of our residents, their family & friends and our team.
The home is so much nicer than the one that my late mother saw out her last days in.
And you can’t beat the sea view.
It is so lovely to have her with us, we all enjoy having her company. Thank you for your kind review.
Unfortunately, we found Tenchley Manor too late. My father moved in, it was a lovely room overlooking the sea, he loved it and the staff were so helpful. He was looking forward to a nice fry-up in the morning, we were all sh happy for him. So he fell asleep that night and didn't really wake up, he sadly passed away on Saturday evening.
I couldn't have asked for anything more. My wife was cared for so well. The staff and management are wonderful, nothing is too much for them and it is easy to see how much they care. Can highly recommend.
Thank you for your valued feedback. I am so glad to hear that you were pleased with the care that your wife received.

Meet the Team (7)

I’ve completed a manager's training course and take pride in creating a nurturing environment where residents feel enriched, stimulated, and content in their homes.

I joined Tenchley Manor in 2022 and have found it to be one of the nicest places I have ever worked. From the moment you walk through the door, there is a lovely family, homely, welcoming and caring feel. As Administrator, I make sure that residents, their families and friends feel welcomed, comfortable and at home from the moment they arrive and throughout their time at Tenchley Manor. I hold a BA Ed Hons and a Level 2 qualification in Business Administration.

I love to keep everything organized, neat and tidy for the home and the residents and am good at time management which means I don’t fall behind. I like to see everyone happy and am well supported in my role here at Tenchley Manor.

I joined Tenchley Manor in 1996 and love the friendly, homely atmosphere. We all strive to make every day fun and interesting, with residents, families, staff and guests getting involved. I always aim to put a smile on people’s faces and treat everyone equally, with care, compassion and understanding. I am a good listener and hope to help put any fears about coming into care at rest. To me, being a carer is about being a friend too. I hold an NVQ in care and regularly complete training to keep my knowledge and skills up to date across all aspects of care.

I joined the team in December 2022 and have 22 years of experience in my profession. I enjoy building meaningful, long-term relationships with our residents and supporting their individual needs. I believe I can enrich people’s lives by listening to them, providing compassionate care and helping to resolve any concerns they may have.

I joined Tenchley Manor in 2024 and really enjoy being part of such a friendly, welcoming team. The staff make it feel like a family, and it is an honour to work alongside them. I believe kindness and a positive attitude go a long way, and I enjoy helping to create a warm and happy environment for everyone. Although I am not directly involved in residents’ care, the training I have completed helps me understand their needs and how I can best support them in my role.

I love spending time with our Residents, getting to know them, hearing their stories and building meaningful relationships. I enjoy crafts, outings and finding ways to make Residents smile, whether through a conversation, a helping hand or my singing!
With previous experience in activities at a holiday camp, I wanted to make a difference in people's lives. I have a Mental Health First Aid qualification and Level 2 in Counselling Skills, but I believe a warm heart and open arms are just as important.
