Tenchley Manor is a purpose-built care home, designed to provide exceptional specialist nursing care to up to 37 residents. Tenchley Manor has recently undergone extensive renovation and development and provides comfortable and spacious lounges and dining areas. Most rooms are ensuite, and a number of rooms have disabled wet rooms.

For additional comfort and safety, assisted medical baths are provided. Residents are supported and assisted at mealtimes, and special dietary requirements are catered for. Their catering teams produce a range of nutritious and tasty meals.

The home's nurse-led team provides care for those of advanced years, and adults of all ages. The quality of staff training is crucial to the service's effectiveness, with carers currently aiming to complete the Gold Standards Award. Pride is taken in the quality of staff training given to ensure that a consistently high standard of care is delivered.

My Dad (58) went to reside at Tenchley Manor from the end of June 2023 until late August and when he moved to hospice, his cancer-related anxiety and symptoms had become too difficult to manage at home, and it was decided a nursing home would be the safest place for him. Dad had very complex needs and
on top of this a terminal diagnosis, making him hard to manage. Most of the staff were very good and with my Dad. My only criticism was I wish I had felt listened to more regarding his end-of-life symptoms. Tenchley have kept in touch with me and were very supportive and still are since my Dad passed away in September 2023.

After a few years of my father being a resident at Tenchley Manor, he sadly passed away in January 2024. I would just like to say how very grateful I am for the support, firstly from the two ladies always there or at the end of the phone with updates on how Dad was doing and a smile and a hug when I
needed it most. One particular lady, well what can I say, forever grateful for the honest advice, support and hugs for me through this turbulent journey and to all of the staff for the care and compassion you gave to Dad, I would never have been able to have to get through the sadness without all of you.
To the manager - you have a host of angels.

Tenchley Manor has a reputation as a top nursing home and rightly so. The staff are polite, respectful and very professional. Despite my mother's stay being sadly short, I am very happy that she ended her days in their care.

Took Mum for emergency respite and ended up saving her life. The care and support she was given was excellent and has helped her to regain her confidence. All staff I met were caring and considerate. Manager was excellent in coming out to assess Mum within an hour and organisation her admission within
a few hours.

The staff were very welcoming to us. They supported us through my partner's end-of-life care as it came around so quickly. He received wonderful care right to the end of his life peacefully and respectfully I can't thank them enough.

Comfortable premises with good managment and nursing and excellent domestic and catering staff. Carers are good in the main but I sometimes have difficulty understanding them or them me. They change very often so I don't get to know them I enjoy repartee with those I know.

The staff have been amazing making sure my brother is comfortable and as happy as possible. The home smells nice and is very clean. Just looked at my brother I can see how much care has gone into his care. The staff treat us as family, feel welcome and have been supporting us emotionally. The two nurses
are amazing, very happy, lovely and considerate.

My aunt entered the home late last year, she has settled in great, adding some much-needed weight after the close attention by the staff.
The home is so much nicer than the one that my late mother saw out her last days in.
And you can’t beat the sea view.

Unfortunately, we found Tenchley Manor too late. My father moved in, it was a lovely room overlooking the sea, he loved it and the staff were so helpful. He was looking forward to a nice fry-up in the morning, we were all sh happy for him. So he fell asleep that night and didn't really wake up, he sadly
passed away on Saturday evening.

I couldn't have asked for anything more. My wife was cared for so well. The staff and management are wonderful, nothing is too much for them and it is easy to see how much they care. Can highly recommend.

My cousin was a resident at Tenchley Manor since August 2022. From day one she was bedridden and the care she received was outstanding from all the staff involved. Whenever we visited we were made to feel most welcome and supported. As we don't live locally we knew each time we left she was warm, comfortable
and in good hands. During her last days, she was treated with the utmost dignity and respect. Thank you so much to all the staff.

My mother was cared for in her last few weeks. The room was beautiful with views of the garden and sea. Every single staff member, without exception, was outstanding in the care they offered her and all the family at the end. I am taking comfort in the knowledge that she received the best available.

My mother has been a resident at Tenchley Manor since April 2023, and since then the staff have bent over backwards to make her feel at home, happy and cared for. The transition to a new home, when you’re unable to live independently in your own place any more, is always difficult, but for her, it was
managed very sympathetically, and now she feels at home there and loves the staff who take care of her needs and chat to her every day.
I can definitely vouch for Tenchley as a safe, happy retirement home, with the added bonus of a beautiful setting in landscaped gardens, through which you can walk straight through to the seafront. Highly recommended.

From the moment she arrived at Tenchley Manor, Mum was told that she was home and that was true. She was warm, clean and well cared for by the lovely staff - from the lady with a cup of tea to the carers, medical staff and manager. She was unable to get out of bed but was always kept under supervision.
She died peacefully with family by her side in the home and they were kind and caring to all of us. If possible, I would give Tenchley Manor and the staff 6 stars.

Normally very good care is given but obviously when there is a shortage of staff (particularly over weekends) care and attention are a lot slower. Otherwise, the care and attention to residents are excellent.

All staff are friendly and attentive to the residents. My grandfather has settled well in the few months he has been at Tenchley Manor. He is thriving and looks the best he has in a very long time.
