I cannot speak highly enough for the quality of care afforded to dad by all the staff at Longacre.
Exemplary and wonderful and dad was very happy and comfortable at all times, he became close especially to senior staff and the manager. Even in his last.

Our beautiful Mum was transferred to Longacre Nursing Home for palliative care on May 6th 2025. All of the staff were very welcoming and looked after Mum with kindness, respect & dignity. They made Mum's final weeks bearable for us as a family, as we had no worries or concerns about the care she was
receiving there.
Mum passed away on Monday 23rd June and we cannot thank everyone at Longacre enough for looking after Mum; you all are truly amazing people.

We are very grateful to all at Longacre for the end-of-life care provided for my mum. She was only resident for a short time, just three months but in that time, she was treated with kindness, respect and dignity. The staff were always very friendly and helpful and we were always made to feel welcome
when visiting.
We would like to thank all the staff at Longacre for the wonderful care that they gave my mum during her stay.

My Mother had to come in for Paliative care following a stay in hospital. As expected her health deteriorated fairly quickly but during her time with Longacre they were very attentive and caring and always made sure that mum was comfortable even sitting with her for her final moments.
As with most
places it would be easy to pick holes, however the most important thing is the care that the residents receive and I can't fault them for this. My mother was a very independant person, not used to having people 'fuss around' her. The team coped with this well, never getting impatient instead they were always smiling.
The manager had the attitude that they should, within reason, be allowed what they want in their final days to make the resident more comfortable. This was a lovely approach to her care.

Mum was treated extremely well at Longacre. They were kind and respectful looking after her needs. Mum enjoyed being in the lounge with the other residents where there was a cheerful atmosphere. The staff put on lots of entertainment and activities with singers coming in. Mum liked having her nails
manicured, which also gave the staff an opportunity to get to know her better.
The staff were always welcoming and helpful whenever I visited. I was confident in the level of care that Mum was receiving, and the manager was very kind and put Mum's needs first when she left.
The family would like to thank all the dedicated staff at Longacre for the wonderful care that they gave my mum during her stay.

We're truly grateful to everyone at Longacre Nursing Home for the wonderful care given to my mother-in-law. The staff were consistently kind, respectful, and supportive, treating her with real dignity. The home was always clean, warm and welcoming, with a lovely atmosphere.
The food was excellent,
and the range of activities helped keep her engaged and comfortable. Every member of staff we met was compassionate and professional, and the management was always approachable and supportive.
Her room was cosy and well-maintained, and we always felt confident in the level of safety and care she received.
Longacre really felt like a home, not just for her but for us too during visits. We couldn't have asked for better care. Thank you for all the compassion, patience and warmth. You made a very difficult time that little bit easier, and for that, we're forever grateful.

My mum moved into Longacre after suffering with Alzheimer's and Dementia for quite some time. We have previous experience with this home as my Aunty also resided here for 6 years suffering with Dementia so we already knew the Manager and Owner.
This is a fantastic and trustworthy home that goes over
and above to look after its residents. Nothing is too much trouble and always done with a smile on their face. Their jobs aren't easy and I have so much time for them. They really do care and do their utmost to please Mum as she can be hard work. They are thoughtful and have great personalities which bring comfort and laughter to her and I appreciate that so much. Mum never goes without food and there is always something going on in the lounge for all residents to enjoy. I wouldn't have Mum anywhere else and have complete peace of mind knowing she is safe and cared for appropriately. Thank you all.

My husband is having the very best care in this friendly home. The carers, nursing staff and all ancillary staff are very caring and helpful and support me as well as my husband. The residents have made a collage for the wall which to my mind says it all - 'Our residents do not live in our workplace'
'We work in their home'.
The manager is very friendly, extremely efficient and helpful. Longacre is full of compassionate, sympathetic and accommodating staff who deliver excellent and dignified care to the residents, ensuring their every possible need is met.

Our dear Mum was only at Longacre for 3 weeks, receiving palliative care, before she sadly passed away.
The peaceful environment coupled with the wonderfully kind, caring and patient staff made our Mum's last few weeks as comfortable as possible.
Nothing was too much trouble and we were always kept
updated on her situation.
The manager at Longacre, was always very supportive and available to speak to either in person or at the end of the phone.
We cannot thank Longacre enough for the wonderful care shown to our Mum.

My mother-in-law is receiving the utmost care despite her challenging behaviour due to dementia. All the staff are caring and provide all needs that are required to keep her safe. The surroundings at the home are more than adequate for her. The food choices are different most days, and she does not
want for anything.
The staff will take her out when they can and also provide entertainment in-house.
After a visit to Longacre, I feel relieved that my mother-in-law is in the best care.

I am compelled to write this review for the outstanding care my dad received at Longacre. He unfortunately died on the 18th. He was there for palliative care.

The care that my mum received during her time at Longacre was amazing. The staff were just fabulous. The couple of issues that my mum had were dealt with as soon as management were made aware. The care and compassion shown to my mum was as if they were looking after a member of their own family!

mum was both happy and sad to be leaving the home. I can't thank the staff enough for taking such good care of her, forever grateful.

This is the second time I've used this nursing home for a parent with end-of-life care. I found the whole team to be extremely caring and thoughtful towards my mother, and also to us as a family couldn't do enough for us they supported us at a very difficult time. The atmosphere in the home was excellent
and very welcoming and I never saw anything but excellent care for all the residents. Very happy with the care my mother received and my father before that. Can't recommend it highly enough.

We would like to thank the Manager and all the staff for the wonderful and dedicated care they gave our father during the weeks he was with them. He came to the home for end-of-life care and they always ensured he was wonderfully well cared for and provided with 1-1 help with everything he needed. Nothing
was too much trouble and everyone took a genuine interest in him and we were able to go home each day knowing we had no worries about how he was being looked after and that if there was a change we would be contacted. Thank you again for all you did for him, we are eternally grateful.

Longacre continues to give mum the love and care she needs in a home-from-home atmosphere. All the staff are very friendly and cheerful and provide essential familiar faces daily and when we visit we become part of the family too. Mum is always included in the activities and celebrations as far as her
condition allows and a lot of effort goes into these occasions. Mum's needs are always discussed with us. We would like to thank the manager and all the staff for going the extra mile.

After my husband had a long stay in hospital Longacre was eventually found as a suitable nursing home to meet his needs. I couldn't have chosen better, they have been so caring and met his needs whenever these changed. These changes were often as he had medical problems as well as his dementia. They
took time to change his dressings on a daily basis, with the matron a very experienced nurse who knew when to call the doctor with any other changes. I felt he had personal care by lovely carers, always monitoring his food intake. They administered to his personal needs and it took so much of the worry away from me, knowing he was so well looked after. They helped me celebrate several birthdays and our Golden Wedding Anniversary. Sadly my husband passed away in early December, with full PPE and testing I was allowed to see him weekly in the last few months. I will always be grateful for the kindness they have shown.

My mum moved into Longacre after a long stay in hospital, from our first visit the staff made us feel very welcome and accommodating to anything we requested. Mum was well cared for with love and dignity. We as her family always felt part of their family. Sadly Mum passed away in May 2020 so her stay
was short. They cared for her during the awful Covid-19 situation.
They were so respectful on her final day to her and us as her family.

Diane Thorp

Job Title: Registered Manager Joined: 2008

Started working at Longacre Nursing Home over 27 years ago as a Registered Nurse. I grew along the home and proceeded to work as a Deputy Manager and ultimately as the Registered Home Manager.


I have always enjoyed taking on the challenge of providing compassion and outstanding person centred care to all of our residents whilst assuring the smooth running of the home.


I will always work on making sure our residents feel at home rather than an institution.

I consider myself 'jack of all trades' as I dabble in all different roles within the home as needed in order to assist with providing the best care for our residents.

I always make sure their home is decorated in line with all events and celebrations throughout the year be it Diwali, Halloween or Christmas.
