Pentlands staff look after my mother very well. Always encouraging her to take part in the activities. Which are of a very high standard. I like the way the manager & staff take the time to make sure her whole well being is looked after, mentally as well as her every day physical needs.

I visited your Pentlands Nursing Home with my long term parter, because her father is a resident and you were having a garden function on Saturday 25 July for all residents and their families with various stalls and with tombola prizes to help raise funds for a local hospice. It was clear to me as a visitor , Pentlands is an extremely professionally run nursing home with a caring attentive team. The public toilets and rooms are kept pristine. The function and fun entertainment, with professional singer Tania , was organised by Pentland's super friendly Giedre. Everything was first class, entertainment, cakes, drinks and stalls et al! When I asked Giedre to assist my partner's father to visit his apartment toilet she organised that with her carer team immediately with a smile. Top Notch nursing home!!

At 91 years this is my first experience of being in a Nursing Home, and the care I have received has been outstanding. At times the staff have been very busy, but on no occassion did I feel they hadn't got the time to listen, to reassure and carry out whatever care was necessary which I can say was never rushed and you left the staff had all the time in the world!

I hope I can end my life in my own home, but if that doesn't happen I have been very reassured by my 2/52 in Pentlands Nursing Home

Pentlands was a wonderful home from home for my mother, she was always very happy there. I cannot thank the staff enough for all the love and care my mother received from the day she arrived until her last. The fun and laughter between her and the staff will always be, for me, a very fond memory. At the end she was treated with true dignity along a warmth of friendship that comes from being a part of the amazing Pentlands family.

Pentlands has a warm and inviting atmosphere, that is always spotlessly clean. I have found the staff to be friendly, happy and professional, but most importantly, kind. The activities are varied and inclusive and fun! I have always had peace of mind that my mum is being well cared for.

My mother was very low when she arrived at Pentlands Nursing Home Worthing. The team have encouraged my mother to engage with other residents and is going out into the community. My mother is a lot happier and I can relax knowing she is well cared for. The support the whole team that has been given to me and my mum is exceptional. Communication is very good. I am always contacted of any changes and if I have any queries nothing is to much. When I arrive after travelling to see her there is always a welcome and a cup of tea.

Thank you to all the staff at Pentlands. 5 star

Pentlands was recommended to us by several people independently of each other. My wife has been there for 18 months, and I doubt I could find better care anywhere else. The home is well managed so that a good atmosphere prevails and staff are friendly and helpful. On the medical side they are alert and quick to deal with any issues that arise, e.g. managing pain. The manager/matron and senior nurse are easily accessible and contact me promptly when necessary.

My partner needed full time nursing care after nearly 6 months of hospitalization. Suffering from many health issues and immobility the family wanted a happy placement for him. Pentlands were efficient and quick to respond to our enquiry and having our very much loved family member there is the best decision we could have made. The care and attention he receives is second to none, the food is really excellent and the activities are entertaining and well thought out. His en suite room is lovely, comfortable tasteful and also practical and safe. He is very happy to be there. All the management and staff are very experienced, caring, thoughtful and extremely pleasant and we are sure that all the patients must feel very safe, comfortable, happy and inspired.

We really appreciated the speed of response after we first contacted Pentlands, and all arrangements they made for appropriate transport. Our mother's end-of-life care was outstanding. Support to family members in difficult and unexpected circumstances was excellent.

Although Mum's stay with Pentlands was very brief, the care and support shown was wonderful. The attention to detail in caring my mum was both sensitive and caring. Once Mum had passed away, the manager was very supportive and respectful. All the staff were helpful and caring, and we can't speak more highly of Pentlands.

It is just a pity my mum wasn't able to have more time at Pentlands, and enjoy Pentlands.

Sadly our Mum recently passed away in Pentlands after 8 days of palliative care. From the moment mum arrived, the standard of care and support was exceptional. It was clear from the outset that everyone at Pentlands was highly trained, attentive, and compassionate. From the wonderful matron Debbie and Mum's primary care nurse Ella, through to all of the nurses, carers, caterers and maintenance staff, my family cannot speak highly enough of this nursing home.
Mum being Mum, she made a quick impression on all the staff and they always looked out for her. No request was too small. All of her visiting family and friends were made to feel welcome. Facilities modern and clean. Food excellent.

As devastated as we are by mum's loss, it is comforting to know she received the best possible care at the end of her life. This being Worthing, there are plenty of nursing homes to choose from. I would highly recommend Pentlands without hesitation.

My wife has been at Pentlands since last year, and I have found her stay here wonderful, the staff are so caring, thoughtful and very understanding, calling her by her first name and making her comfortable. I find it very rewarding. I myself find all the staff are excellent from Matron to cleaners, altogether great teamwork.

Review from Bob R (Brother of Resident) published on 10 February 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My brother's stay was sadly quite short (for palliative care) but the standard of care and support was excellent throughout. Every member of staff I was in contact with impressed with their professionalism and kindness. This is clearly a well-run home with the individualised care of its residents at its heart. The atmosphere and environment is comfortable, smart and relaxing - but the home is equipped with high-grade equipment and procedures. (Even when there was a change of shift, it was clear there was always a smooth and proper handover.) We have no criticisms, only praise to offer - and will be forever grateful that our brother was so well cared for at the end of his life.

“Hello, and welcome to Pentlands. I am Debbie Hathaway, the Registered Manager. I have had the privilege of working for South Coast Nursing Homes for nearly 30 years, and I have proudly served as the manager here at Pentlands for the last 25.

Pentlands holds a special place in our local history as one of the first nursing homes established in Worthing. Over the decades, we have built a strong reputation for providing excellent, compassionate care - a standard we maintain every day through our exceptional staff.

I am supported by a dedicated care team, many of whom have been with us for between 10 and 30 years. Staff retention ensures a stable, well-run environment where our residents are truly treated like family. It is this continuity of care that has earned us a 9.9 rating on carehome.co.uk, an achievement of which we are immensely proud.

At the heart of our service is expert clinical care, anchored by a highly skilled nursing team. We are fully equipped to specialise in a variety of complex needs, providing tailored support for general nursing, Parkinson's disease, stroke recovery, Motor Neurone Disease (MND), and Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Furthermore, we are deeply honoured to have built a reputation for delivering sensitive, dignified palliative care.

Our home is ideally situated to keep residents connected to the local area. We are located close to shops and the beautiful Worthing seafront. For visiting loved ones, we are incredibly easy to reach, positioned right on a main bus route and just a short distance from West Worthing train station.

Choosing a care home is a significant decision, and my team and I are here to support you every step of the way. We warmly invite you to get in touch and experience Pentlands first hand.”
